I think you may be more like 2km away from the exchange, not the box across your road. What does that look like? Unless there is something wrong with your line, you should be getting higher attainable rate.

What speedtest result you get now? Around 3.5M? Ask them to set data rate at 5120 and you should get better speeds.

I see, as what I am thought as well. The attenuation just great around 15 but the snr is going down, as long I am getting good speed and no disconnection issues that would be good enough.

snr margin yg bgus 30-32db..jika bawah dripada 15db hubungi lah tm untk pembaikan.. Port yg dibuka pula msti 1x ganda.. Cntoh.. Jika Package 1mb,port 2mb di perlukan.. 4mb-port 5mb,8mb-port 10mb..

nope
the box is literally across the road from my house
plus thats where the telekom center is situated as well
if its at the other place thn i dnt know where the next box is situated because im living in the town area...literally inside the town
for the 4096 they set, im getting full speed actually, just the max attainable speed isn't going further to 5 figures
line is mostly ok, just sometime YT won't load fast, need to use VPN

I don't know what exactly happened, but after I connected my telephone line to my old Riger modem and then reconnect it to my current TP-Link Modem, the max rate and SNR margin went up quite a lot. Anyone has an idea on what's happening?

Could be that so happened you just got a better line condition after you disconnected and re-connected the line. Or you got a connection with a different modulation mode and annex type.

From my observations...

Port speeds are set at:
1024 = 1280
2048 = 2560
4096 = 5120
8192 = 10240

It is based on 1.25 times.

The modem status page sometimes shows rates that are slightly less by 1 to 4 bits. For example:
5120 could be shown as 5119 - 5116.
10240 could be shown as 10239 - 10236.

Long time ago 1024 was set at 1024 which means you get about 0.8Mbps speedtest. Later port speeds were set higher to get about 1.0Mbps speedtest results to match package subscription speed.

Some 1024 were also set at 1536 (1.5 times) which results in about 1.2Mbps speeds.

For 512 uploads, the port is mostly set at 512 itself (511 - 508). This results in about 0.42Mbps speedtest. However, there are some cases where it is set at 640 (639 - 636) which again is 1.25 times. This results in about 0.52Mbps which is the more accurate setting for the subscribed 512 upload package.

ADSL efficiency is around 85%. This is why TM only guarantee 80% of the subscribed speed.

In fact, most ISP oversea cap their users at the advertised rate. It depends on your luck. smile.gif

I think this follows the pricing for 2 / 4 / 8M = RM120 / 130 / 140. Is it a 1 year contract?

Does your area have Unifi? Just wondering why they don't make Unifi offer.
*
Contract tenure is 1 year..

Yeah my area has Unifi...my concern for unifi is the amount of hacking required.. the unifi box is at the back of my house..

Your zip file corruption is not related to your DSL SNR/Attenuation, unless if the DSL signal keeps getting unstable and requires "retraining" (known as disconnect in layman)
