hi, does streamyx restricts torrent? the same torrent i tried with unifi at my friend's house, max speed, but with my streamyx, not even 20kbps.

just subscribe to 8mbps streamyx, the silver modem comes with the package was told is not very good, anyone can give advice?

I have a very strange problem.
When I unplugged the cable from the fixed line phone, my internet speed return to normal. When I plug back the cable to the phone, my internet speed reduce to half (4mbps to 2mbps).
Anyone encounter this problem?

Constant disconnects, is it my router or ISP?
I keep getting these random disconnects every so often, I used to think it was my ISP, but I've noticed a few things and I think it may be my router instead. Whenever I have these periods of being unable to connect, I've noticed that the router's setting page at 192.168.1.1 will not work at all.

Your current situation had happened to me twice before. One time I rebooted the modem and it went back to normal. Another time rebooting didn't work and I had to phone 100 and lodge a complaint...it took them 2 working days to resolve it. Similar miscaps had also happened to me when I was on 4mbps...was capped at 2000+kbps on at least 4 occasions.

On a tangent, I didn't bother to accept TM's "surprise" gifts. Bugger 'em!

What download speed do you get for speed test eg at speedtest.tm.com.my ? Around 6.6-6.7M? Or higher ?

How about andyng38 ? Do you get more like 8.5-8.6M ? That will show the difference.

Well, based on andyng38 reply, you can see the speed difference. No harm trying to get them to check on your port speed. Though they'll probably use the 80% argument. Its also possible that the lower port speed provides a more stable connection depending on your line condition.

Early subscribe of 8mbps, yes i got around 8 mbps and 9 mbps occasionally.
but after downstream change to 8188kbps, my speed reduce to  6.9mbps... never ever achieved 8mbps anymore.

Found this stuck to my gate earlier today....looks like TM is offering SDSL in my area. Anyone used SDSL before? (upload speed = download speed).

my speed is capped at 4096, not 5120
my modem shows the maximum attainable speed is just merely around 8Mbps...its not even 5 figures

for the 4096 they set, im getting full speed actually, just the max attainable speed isn't going further to 5 figures
