Before you rant about your slow speed to Maxis Customer Care, please be reminded that speed is affected by few factors:

1) Your device:
-You can't expect it to have 20Mbps when your modem's capability is just running max up to 7.2Mbps.
-You might be having a faulty modem, try switching your SIM card with other modems

2) Your signal coverage:
-If you are not within DC-HSPA+ coverage, then don't expect to have 20Mbps of speed. Be contented with just probably 5Mbps speed, that's probably what your tower is capable of. I know someone who was already running in joy though he only gets 2Mbps on his Maxis. Yes, he is in Mukah, Sarawak.

3) Congested with other users:
-If you are unlucky and you live in an area where there are a lot of similar users like you, be prepared with network congestion. Everyone is fighting with you. Though you might be living in a non-urbanized area, that doesn't mean your area will have good speed. All telco providers will do survey first before doing bandwidth allocation, if you area has low density of users, they will not allocate more speed to that tower. So can't do much thing about this.

4) Timing:
-Avoid performing download activities during golden hours (7-11 p.m.), this is the period where those working folks are back to home and start jamming the line. Be considerate with others. You could queue your downloads to start only after midnight when they go to bed.

5) QoS:
-Check your QoS first, it could be your area is only capped to 2480/2480.

OK, after checking through the above steps and you are still very sure that something is wrong with your connection and tower. Login to your Twitter account and start tweeting the Maxis CS. Follow them @MaxisListens and they could respond to you quite swiftly. Lastly, be patient and they will fix your issue soon!


Before I forget, I think it is worth mentioning here that Maxis blocks P2P port in order to provide better speed to other users. Let's not forget there are other needy users out there depending on this connection to do their work and etc. So, don't hog the connection with your P2P activities. The port will only be opened at 1.00 a.m. - 7.00 a.m. or 3.00 a.m. - 7.00 a.m., depending on your area. So, plan your download activities wisely.

Of course this can be solved with VPN or SeedBox but I'll not further drill into this part. Check out yourself and don't ask me or us how to bypass it.

Some of legacy guys think they are superior/noble because they use longer than new biz users. In their mind, new users rant, legacy users never rant. Another reason is they think Maxis disable unlimited data because of new biz users.

I really sad that dixxxxfe sweep us away while something like this happens. His last few posts were so radical that deny all new biz comments. Maybe old man think different than youngsters, like "sister listen".

The truth is.. I don't even know what's the difference between the 68 and 99 package..
When I register.. they hand out this brochure (or pamphlet)...
Both having the same 'value' (data, free call, sms, mms...)
But the plan comes with different phone (yeah.. we're getting a free phone that time :3...)

The TOS did mention, Maxis reserve the rights to revise the contract anytime

That is originally for legacy unlimited internet and this is Mobile Internet not to be confused with broadband as well

What I would like is to retitle the other topic to "Maxis mobile internet 30GB quota" because that's the course that it has gone. Retitle this topic for general discussion on Maxis mobile internet.

what i get from relevant cs.
RM68 plan with 5GB is come with voice .(so you have voice plan)
another one is only unlimited data 30GB with no voice plan.
so if your dealer is relevant , everyone who activated after jan should be also 30GB.

i got 1 multisim (legacy kua) and 1 biz99... both also stock at 30gb la... so what so special legacy and biz 99....

and the worse part for legacy mutisim is... if all the same group of ppl suign the same group of sim and is heavy dl ppl... habis the whole group...

when my biz99 been capped that time, my multisim still got 20gb ++ to use... that time think the legacy mayb excluded from the capped... so do a test... end up capped at 30gb and at the same time other user share the same group get capped also....

see., diff cs said 2 diff answer... online chat with cs, they said 68 by right capped at 3gb and 99 capped at 6gb... no 4 or 5 gb... but currently maxis decide to capped all at 30gb....

What they mean is there is no different for 68 and 99 now as all capped at 30GB.
This is happened just like before all is unlimited, NO DIFFERENT.
The only different is FUP at 3GB and 6GB means they can suka suka capped u at 3GB(68) and 6GB(99) as what they did for 30GB now.
If you are insist getting the answer for "fair" or "unfair" in between 68/99, the only so called "fair" situation is 68 capped in 3GB and 99 capped in 6GB which i dont think this is what we all want, right?

I check my usage earlier, it was stated 30gb quota, but recently the ussd check is no longer available on my plan.

I went to maxis KLCC today to get another multisim, at the same time to understand more on the capped issue, that maxis guy said he is using the unlimited plan too, last few days it was capped to 30gb but the capped has been abolished, not sure how true, but the hope is there.

Hi. Let me explain some different between 68 & 99
68 & 99 both come with contract/ without contract.
The different of 68 & 99 with contract is the subsidy of the phone. 99 package come with higher subsidy compared to 68.

And for no contract, is rather ppl take 68 since it offer the same unlimited(last time) than 99 lo.

^ this explain everything.

anyways, since this is for non-legacy (biz 99, 98, or the 'unpackaged RM250 PAYU', i'm going to kickstart a discussion about the RM per GB RM/GB or GB/RM (depending on how you look at it)

so, as far as i can recall, you can purchase extra data once you hit the quota limit, correct?

Now, i'm taking into consideration that one of the "BEST" value for value for Maxis, has been the biz99 (of course i'm just lunking), that you get a pretty fair deal of 30GB for RM99, that's something like RM0.3 per gig, and then i'm linking WBB (but ONLY because this is the "if you have maxis postpaid, you get a discount by paying this only sum) of 28GB (7+21) for RM118, and you'll get a whooping RM0.23 per gig.

however, the major kicker is,
assuming the WORST value for value is that 10cents per 10kb, is it capped? I haven't read anythign that says its capped on the page Maxis Mobile Internet - Packages and Charges. in fact, the quota says N/A. If its N/A, but you pay a maximum of RM250, very good deal. But if there's no ceiling, you'll be screwed.

So what's the best value for value you can get these days for your maxis mobile internet?

(by the way, i'm using this formula of max usage of RM200 as per one of maxis's old ipad plans as a comparison, that's how i rolled until the new AM+AM plan rolled out.

For the biz 68 last time. U can surf unlimited, but if u make phone call, u pay as u used. Corporate usually give this plan to employee cos there is free talk time of 38hrs within corporate subscriber. which almost count as unlimited also.

after reset gone

in maxis actual agreement:
RM68 = 3GB
RM99 = 6GB

there are some experiencing akward situations where they were miscapped:
RM68 = 5GB
RM99 = 9GB

30GB for RM99, that's RM3.30 per GB not RM0.30

maxis now getting more smart, rm250 cap no longer on talkmore postpaid plan.

ivalue got rm250 cap but on daily not monthly..

if ur on old postpaid plan "pay as u use rm250" might still be available.

sorry bad with my math. i'm almost inclined to just go and make a new thread about GB-per-RM between maxis, celcom and digi, but i think its sufficient for me to talk just about maxis's here, since we're talking about mobile internet here.

has anyone have any idea, what kind of data and rates you can 'upgrade' once you hit the 30GB quota? the one maxis quotes on website refers to WBB's , not MI's.

Im still waiting my next reset to see what quota i get. If 30gb i still can accept, but if below, i will wrack maxis gaogao. My agent which is also my friend gonna trouble if i bring up to top management.

Guys, are my only option to upgrade my quota after reaching my limit is the one listed in *136*9# ? Which is rm48 for 1gb? Is it possible to renew the quota w/o waiting till the next billing cycle if im willing to pay the bill in advance?
