That's really frustrated vmad.gif , have you get Ford to do a thoroughly check on all the electronic mechanism in the car? Ask for an one to one exchange by threatening Ford that you'll go to the local newspaper, lolx.

Send your car to SDAC PJ and not anywhere else. Look for Edward there and relate your problem to him. He will solve it for you ASAP.

Not considering to give the service centre in KL a try? Heard that this particular SC is better in troubleshooting major problems.

Bro,
Thank God its only happen to me once, and I know your feeling bro. Some car nut call it "battery parasite" and it take month to rectify adn solve the problem, because have to check all the electronic part that refuse to sleep even the car is off and lock

Here some tips.
After you switch off the engine, all light at dashboard will always remain On for few minutes,
But if driver go out,, close door, the dashboard light will auto off, ALWAYS CHECK THIS, if light still On, lock your car, then this time all light should be Off, accept the PATS blinking red light and one orange light at dashboard with key icon on it.
If all light still on, open car, start engine, on headlamps, on radio, on aircon then take a spin, after that swith off light, off aircon, off radio, MAKE SURE YOUR RADIO LIGHT is OFF everytime you off your radio, the only light that On is the word SONY and radio power button.
Before you off the engine, double check there is no USB attached, and no charger at your cigarate lighter.
Then Off the engine, go out from car, close door, before you lock your car make sure all light at dashboard is auto off within few second, then only lock your car, if your dashboard light still on, then thats the culprit. And check your aircon light also, sometimes this light refuse to Auto Off. Snap a picture of the light and make sure with the blinking PATS light, to show that you already lock your car.

This is not happen to all focus but it only happen to unlucky one, the light at dashboard refuse to Off. In Malaysia its only happen to you and me I guess.

Same goes to the USB drive, my brother also owned a Focus, he never pull out his USB drive ever unless he need to add in new song, but I always pull my USB drive out, no harm because the car clever enough to go to your last song, unless the Indexing is still on going.
If you notice, sometimes, we Off our engine, lock our car, then we come back On engine, On radio, at display it show, Sync System Idexing Complete, thats mean the car still doing minor background job even the car is Off.

Now since Feb 2013, my car all fine, no big problem, except for small issue. My car is weekend car.
What I do everyday before go work with my bike, I will go my focus and have a peek and see is the PATS blinking red light is On or not, if not blinking, then I'm in big trouble.

For owner that having problem with loud thud thud sound at front absorber when your hit hole or road bumper, go SC and ask technician to tighten the lower arm screw for absorber, under the absorber mounting. I dont know if you guys understand or not, if no, I'm sorry, reply me and I will explain again.

Now I'm waiting for my warranty claim for steering guk guk sound, Ford PJ said Ford Krabi is on top of this problem, and will probably issue out new comsumable part to be replace to eliminate the sound.

Thanks for sharing bro, looks like you have a lot of experiences, sorry that it's not a good one. How do I check the PATs red light? Is it on the dashboard or where?

Bro,

Thank you for sharing your experience here. Glad to say that both me and wife have flexible working hours and each time car failed to start luckily car is at home. Wife drive the car most of the time and she is heavily pregnant now. Had it happen at her office basement car park or somewhere middle of the road, I think I will rush there with a few journalist or maybe police officer due to safety reasons...

Anyway, next week I will give puchong service center last chance as they promise to replace with a new battery. If the battery failed again, obviously is something terribly wrong with the car. Even if Someone very well-versed with cars, I don't think we need to pay that much attention each time we switch off the car or lock the car. In fact both me and wife have a habit of switching off the air con every time before switch off engine. Until now never use the USB/cigarette lighter before..

Even if they manage to solve my problem, i will still complain in their fb page. I will ask my insurer to provide a summary of auto assist help being requested as a proof

After such experience, I think is hard to recommend this car to others especially female driver where realibility is the biggest concern in current environment...

I only have experience with V-Kool and Huper Optik. Both are good. Huper Optik is currently on the vehicle for less than 4 months, so far so good. Can't comment on Raytech or 3M but I believe Thanish had his vehicle tinted with Raytech.

A bit off-topic. Just came back from 1Utama and apparently the Nissan road-show is still displaying the current(old) models of the Sylphy and Teana. Though I have to say I am quite impressed with the black leather interior of the high-spec Teana. The interior certainly looks classy and comfortable with the soft and plush leather seats.

The Sylphy also has the black-coloured leather seats which is nice(the earlier models only had cream beige leather seats). However, the interior trimmings and rosewood panels on the doors are outdated and look a bit "unclish". I do hope the new Sylphy that is due next year would get a refreshed interior as this one is high on the shortlist as a replacement to my Proton Preve Turbo.

As a side-note, I do notice the engine vibration with the Focus during idling(vehicle at N) is getting a bit obvious. I can feel the intermittent engine vibration in the cabin when waiting at the traffic lights. During the next service I will highlight this and see if the vibration can be eliminated, completely.

Anybody managed to get this engine vibration eliminated at the service centre?

Yes, the vibration is intermittent when the vehicle is idle, ie. vibrate for 1 second, no vibration for 2-3 seconds, vibrate for 1 second, no vibration for 2-3 seconds etc. Not really serious but I can feel it. This engine vibration gives the feeling or impression that the engine is going to shut down or something due to empty oil tank.

I'm going to send the vehicle to the service centre earlier than the scheduled 10,000km service as recently the driver's windscreen is producing a slight screeching sound when it's winding up and down. Will probably bring up this engine vibration issue and ask about the minor jerks and grinding sound.

May I ask if any owners here do not experience even the slightest rattling sound from the steering wheel when the vehicle is going over bad or rough surfaced roads? I want to determine if my vehicle is one of the few that exhibits this rattling sound in the steering wheel. I plan to bring it up to the service centre very soon to see if the rattling sound can be eliminated.

Thanks.

If you're looking at reliability alone, I would suggest you Toyota, I've been driving second gen vios for the past 5 years without any reliability issue, only some minor issues.

I've been using 3M on my previous car - vios, it's very good in term of solar rejection. I'll be trying llumar this time for security purposes. Will feedback later.

This morning the screeching sound from the windscreen is gone. So I may postpone my visit to the service centre since I consider all other issues (minor engine vibration, jerk when accelerating) to be minor. I will update when I get the car to the service centre when something more serious happens. It is a waste of time to send the car to the service centre, and I will only do so when the issues are at a more serious level, or when the car is due for the scheduled 10,000km service.

I recently notice that the jerks during acceleration are not so smooth now, getting serious. The car's acceleration is not smooth at low speed 0 to 60km/h. Getting worse. I am wondering if it is due to the fuel as I recently changed from Petronas to BHP. Will pump back Petronas and see if things will improve. Otherwise, I guess it's the transmission that is getting jerky. Will monitor further on this.

Now I know why some people prefer the Japanese to the continentals. So far I do not have any serious issues with the Ford Focus yet other than the jerks at low speed acceleration which seem to be getting worse now. Still tolerable. My previous Nissan Sylphy does not have any issues at all and zero rattling sound and zero engine vibration during idle. My Focus has minor rattling sound from the steering wheel when going over bad roads, and minor engine vibration when idling (transmission at Neutral).

I can understand the frustration especially from some owners like Choowh with more serious problems whereby the car failed to start for 4 or 5 times. Though I believe this is more toward an isolated case.

Had my Focus Titanium+ (mfc. June 2013 reg. July 2013 @ 14000km) not started since Tuesday evening to Saturday evening (4 days) but had no problems or difficulties starting it.

Also, I had checked the battery at the SC after hearing over these issues with a few of the owners (now urself) but the charge was good. Also, have a bluetooth OBD2 scanner to monitor the pre-crank, crank and post-crank charging voltage & I have something like this; pre (11.7), crank (~10.9), post (12.6 when idling, 13.4 when cruising).

From the research done, a defective battery can't retain the charge, so the crank voltage may even dip below 10/9v & pre-crank may be in it's 10s.

2 possibilities you may look into; current being drawn when no in use - electronics including screen are shut off in 20 mins from ignition off, if doors are unlocked. If doors are locked, it happens nearly immediately. Second possibility is a faulty battery that could have been kept too long in storage (under sun) before transported to Malaysia.

My advice, I'm not sure about the SC you're going to but I can advice you to try SDAC, PJ & speak to the branch manager there - well spoken and if he is informed beforehand, your issue would most likely be addressed in the best possible way. You may try the same with the other SCs instead of raising your issues to the foremans or mechanics first.

Depends on your budget - Raytech is well balanced but wouldn't be the best when it comes to heat rejection against 3M Crystalline - which probably has one of the best heat rejections yet. LLumar Diamond - has a solid security film and very good HR but with a similar price tag with 3M.

But most importantly, I have learnt, isn't the brands or the specs of the tint alone but the workmanship - believe me, if lint or hair gets trapped, you're gonna spend hours to get it corrected & having your door panels removed and installed (something you wouldn't like doing to your ride often).

Thanks for the information. Certainly useful. It appears that there is a fix for this rattling sound when the vehicle goes over rough road surfaces at low speeds. Exactly what I'm experiencing right now.

Cheers.

Hi guys, I just wanna share my fuel consumption for Focus Sport +.

The first consumption of 7.90 liter/100km, I got when travelled from JB to USJ KL + City driving of 25% (mainly from USJ to Shah Alam and USJ to Kota Damansara, return trip).

The second consumption a bit high of 8.34 liter/100km, for travelling from KL to JB (with auto cruise on all the way) + City driving of 50%
(around JB town).

It is good to note the average accumulated cost is = RM0.17/km. rclxms.gif

P/s: The app I use is Fuel Log in Google Play Store

Last week, I have installed 3M on my Focus Sport +. I'm very satisfied with the performance of the tint.

Front - Crystalline 60
Sides - Nano 40 S (security)
Back - Color Stable 35.

The price is quite reasonable. I installed at Starblaze, Kota Damansara (the strand).
