there is no more extra charges for maxis if you subscribe 1gb data plan or above..they will only throttle down the speed...but roaming is not incl inside the data plan...even digi also the same..you have to pay for roaming fee depend on the country you are going..

digi throttle to a joke speed. Open lowyat site also take 30seconds.
Maxi throttle still can steam video in HD on youtube without lag.

Given your situation you have a few choices :
1. Sign up a Postpaid plan with DiGi which entitles you to get the 920 at packaged price. However, they only have Black and White colours.
2. Get the phone form independent source. Sign up a Maxis promotional data plan, if you feel Maxis' coverage is better. Now, they practise fair usage for subscriptions of 1gb and above.
3. Do what you mentioned per your last statement.
Gee, thanks a bunch guys, I really appreciate the feedback. Good thing both the Maxis and Digi stores in my area are opposite each other, I'll go check them both out then. Yeah, the Digi plan would definitely give me a better deal in terms of getting the phone bundled together, but I've been using Maxis all my life and I've never had any problems with them where prepaid is concerned. Good to know that they don't charge anything extra once you bust your quota limit now.
Again, thanks for the replies guys

Hahaha, my brother actually asked me to do the same thing, but he asked me to just give him the phone instead
