Hi,
After upgrade my RT-AC58U firmware, it reboot automatically and the router then not working as it is. I've performed reset (10 secs press the reset hole) and it is still the same. Appreciate any kind advise.

Thanks.

It is really hard to brick an Asus router. Try the firmware rescue mode and worst to worst, make use of the 3 years warranty.

hi @asusmy,

I jut replaced my AC66u with AC86U (hw v1.5) for my UNIFI 800 Mbps. It is running as per below:-

Firmware Version:3.0.0.4.384_45149
Not using smart connect (enabled seperate ssid for 2.4 and 5 Ghz)
Not using AIProtection
Not using AdaptiveQOS
Firewall : YES
DDOS : NO

Client : Mixture of smart devices (ipad, Android )

Questions
1. Sometimes, the wifi connection will just die and there is no internet connection. Looking at the device, the internet LED is still white. After a while, the wifi is back and there is internet connection

2. Looking at the system log, i noticed that this entry is quite common
- Feb 10 03:57:52 kernel: jffs2: warning: (13485) jffs2_sum_write_data: Not enough space for summary, padsize = -1913

3. A lot of disassociation is going on

Nope. Use ethernet cable to extend between the 2 routers

Way better than Wi-Fi extenders which will reduce the speed to half
If you want smaller cable, use fiber instead

Not the only option.. Better to run a cable between 2 decent routers..

Dear All, i need some help here... i'm staying in a 3 storey landed house. my current setup, i placed the unifi with Asus GT-AC5300 router on first floor hallway. my problem is

1. my LG Smart TV connected to 5Ghz SSID-1, sometime the connection will drop and i checked, i notice the Wifi connection was 3 Bar (other device was working fine) is it due to the range?
do i need to add a BlueCave as Aimesh Node to boost the living hall 5Ghz SSID Range?

2. my game room was on second floor, my desktop is with PCE-AC88 PCIE Wifi Adapter, on 2.4Ghz SSID i able to get Full Bar, but on 5Ghz sometimes was 1 or 2, sometimes is on full bar not consistent.
i was thinking to add 1 Aimesh device (Blue Cave) or upgrade the GT-AC5300 to GT-AX11000 or RT-AX88U as Main and GT-AC5300 as Node and put on my game room, is this practical?

or any other recommendation is better than my thinking?

forgot to mention.

what i want is a stable connection while streaming AstroOnTheGo and Netflix on my TV, and Full Speed on my desktop for downloading and stable for gaming purpose.

1. Hows the network performance with your TV connected to the 2.4Ghz network? If the 5Ghz sports 3 bars, then the 2.4 should be significantly better and frankly you should use it instead first and see how..

2. This? I suggest you simply run a cable to your PC.. It's the only guaranteed way to get full speed & stability.

1. i haven't tried the 2.4Ghz network on my TV yet, but the 2.4Ghz can power my whole house from living hall to second floor, on coverage i don't think is a problem, only speed might only get max 100mbps, which i currently is on Unifi 500mbps.

2. i don't plan to run a cable to my PC, due to not that nice la.. smile.gif therefore trying to maximize the wifi performance

Use 5Ghz on the PCE-AC88, the speed should be faster than the 2.4Ghz if nothing is wrong. Report back the performance. IF it is already ~300Mbps, an AiMesh system won't produce a significant improvement.

Adding another router as AiMesh node in the gaming room won't help as your PCE-AC88 is already inside the room so they will have the same performance.

Adding an AiMesh node on the same floor as the gaming room but placed nearer to your main router may help.

If you plan on getting an AiMesh node, I suggest getting a Tri-band router so it can use a dedicated band for backhaul.

My 2 cents.
