Dude, you should have researched on the hardware specs first before purchase. Also, the usb slot on default Unifi router is for diagnosis only.. Can't be used for data storage.

This is a common issue with 2.4Ghz nowadays. The band is getting too congested and there's a lot of things that will interfere with it.

Bluetooth, dect phone and microwave oven all run on 2.4Ghz. I face similar issue previously and manage to fix it recently. Apparently, one of my neighbours is using a wireless baby monitor which messed up the 2.4Ghz band.

I have reset the router and upgraded the firmware online to the newest version. Still the same issue.

the bottom of the router is very hot after several hours.

is the coverage of AC68U better than N66U?

Currently i have the N66U .  recently just upgrade to Unifi.  Change my placement of router to the living room.  and up stairs bedroom suffer from low signal strength. 

Is upgrading to AC68U be any beneficial over the N66U in terms of coverage?

Please advice.

The service centre can diagnose and fix modem overheating issue ?

I dont know the exact temperature, but this is what I found out.

1) Normal internet surfing / streaming -> no problem
2) Heavy download -> After 5 hrs, wifi malfunction.
3) Heavy download with modem elevated few cm from the surface -> After 12 hrs, wifi malfunction.
4) Heavy download with modem elevated few cm from the surface and fan directly blow onto the modem -> After 24 hrs, no problem

So, it's looks clear to me the heat is the main issue here. When wifi malfunction, i still can connect to the modem using ethernet  port and connected to the internet. Changing wifi channel doesn't help.

but find out some review AC86U internet speed higher than AC 5300

got ppl share they are using same router
but when try to speedtest
the speed AC86 speed higher

by same place they change different ssid

Yep, Canada/US/EU model have limited 5GHz channels, as the FCC have strict regulations regarding 5GHz channels there.

If it's an actual US model, you might not be able to do that as the channel restrictions are hardcoded. Not sure about Asus but that's the way it is with Mikrotik. They have 2 variations for each model, one for US and one for ROTW.
