Hi gin&tonic,

You can straight go for the newest firmware, but you still need to do a factory reset after the firmware update.

Thank you

AC56S is built specifically for M1 broadband in Singapore.
AC56S also has only half the RAM capacity & half the CPU core.

AC56U:
CPU - Dual core 800MHz
RAM - 256MB

AC56S:
CPU - Single core 800MHz
RAM - 128MB

If you want my opinion, don't get either of those. Never go antennaless router.
Go for either AC68U or AC66U.

hahaha so weird some PC shops are selling 56S more expensive than 56U.

should be ok,since i just want the VPN Server/Media Server at most.

btw ASUS,what adapter can be paired with RTN18U to achieve 600Mbps link speed at 2.4Ghz band ?

Hi Xefron,

Currently we only have one PCIE adapter that can support up to 600Mbps for 2.4GHz frequency.

For ethernet adapter you can have a look at EA-N66 but the max transfer rate is 450Mbps.

For USB device, max transfer rate for 2.4GHz is 300Mbps only.

Hi nsg86,

Have you tried other browser such as Chrome or Firefox. Sometime add on program might slow the browsing speed.

And do you do a factory reset after the latest firmware update?

Thank you

Check yr router model. If it's b1 u have to d/load the same.

In b1 option just pick 'others' in os since no option for Microsoft?
