for a two-storey house, what's the best router that ensures wifi strength/speed and latency at their best on the first floor of my house?
currently eyeing the ASUS RT-AC87U, is it Unifi-friendly? the only thing that holds me back is the price. lol so expensive. any cheaper alternative from Asus that meets my requirements mentioned above? |

Why are you eyeing the RT-AC87U? LOL!
You should eye the midrange RT-N18U. |

QUOTE(emy_xvidia @ Aug 16 2015, 06:07 PM) care to elaborate? your said model is enough to extend the wifi range to upper floor? afraid too many walls therefore chance of signal weakening is high. The attenuation of the 5GHz band won't help to get a stronger wifi signal.Better use the 2.4Ghz band to get at those hard-to-reach places. I am using the entry-level RT-N21D1 and yet it is sufficient to cover my whole 2-storey house. |

You can use InSSIDer software to determine what wifi channel number is optimum to use for your home. |

QUOTE(ahpaul82 @ Aug 17 2015, 02:42 PM) Hi ahpaul82,Okay, based on the image given by you, The device that have lowest priority and didn't put port number you can remove it. This is because the device that is not in the rules table will default set to lowest priority. And for you to see the difference, the device that has been set to highest priority must be sending high priority packet through the router. If not, lowest priority device will also have the equal speed too. And may I know how do you determine that the QoS is not working? Thank you Attached thumbnail(s) |

Hi Everyone,
I would like to ask for your advice, I bough an ASUS RT-N14UHP to use it as an extender but everytime I scan the networks available my wifi (old) is not appearing in the list. It is turned on and my devices are connected to it, is there any specific requirement for this ASUS Router to find my wifi(old)? My new router can see other wifis in my area which make it more weird. I hope someone can help me out, thanks! Regards, Michael |

Regards, Michael This might due to the WiFi channel on your main router, due to our router only support channel 1-11, your main router will need to within this range in order for the RT-N14UHP to scan it. Try fixing the channel on your main router and try again. Thank you This post has been edited by ASUSmy: Aug 18 2015, 10:41 AM |
