My trusty RT N66U recently lost wifi capability even after hard reset.

I'm able to access router configuration via wired connection and I can see nothing wrong with the wifi settings. i even changed the ssid and wifi password and rebooted the router. Still couldn't get wifi to work. Can't detect the ssid and manual setup also failed.

Tried to connect from multiple devices PC, laptop, android and iOS tablets and phones.

Any ideas?

Also is the new RT AC88U configured to support unifi?

Thanks

Hi Morpheus2be,

From the look of it, it seen like the WiFi is malfunction already, do send back to the place you bought for warranty claim.

And do you mean RT-AC68U? If yes, yes it does support UNIFI.

Thank you

Thanks. Not sure if it's still covered by warranty.

Also, I meant the AC87U. Is it unifi ready?

Hi haizamk,

Do try the following guide and see that it able to solve your problem or not.

1) Try updating the firmware to the latest and do a factory reset.

2) Try changing different SSID and set a value for the Control Channel at Wireless->General->Control Channel.

3) Try use other WiFi device to connect the WiFi.

If the above still unable to solve your problem, do send back to the place you bought for warranty claim.

Thank you

Saw there is a beta firmware 3.0.0.4.378.6117 for RT-N12 D1 on the website, in the instructions it is recommended to do a reset after flashing this. However, will I be able to restore my settings from a backup file after that?

Not sure if this is correct but I believe you may have an overheating AC68U.

Several questions:
1. Where do you place the router?
2. What firmware are you on now? The latest STABLE official ASUS firmware for AC68U is 3.0.0.4.378.4585
3. How many devices is connected through wireless?

1 suggestion on how to check the temperatures of your AC68U:
Use AsusWRT-Merlin firmware to check the temperatures of your AC68U.
Only AsusWRT-Merlin firmwares can provide you with the temperatures. Official ASUS firmwares doesn't have this feature.

ASUSmy around 7.58PM today, all of my wireless devices got disconnected from my RT-N16.
I've attached the log if you need it.
Check the last 4 lines, I've never seen them before.

Not sure if that's normal or not.
The hottest my AC68U ever run is at 71°C. But that's only because I use 2 60MM fan behind the router to suck out all the hot air.
The fan is connected to the USB port where the fan is positioned to suck the hot air out from the router. No mods to the router except for some double sided tape to secure the fan to the router.
I just recycle the fan from a laptop cooler that I'm not using anymore.

After some googling, it looks like it's normal for AC68U to run at those temperature you mentioned.
But I still prefer my devices to run cooler, to help prolong their life.
