iOS Updates (direct IPSW downloads) :
v6.1.3 : iPad Mini CDMA | iPad Mini GSM | iPad Mini WiFi

v6.1.2 : iPad Mini CDMA | iPad Mini GSM | iPad Mini WiFi

v6.1.0 : iPad Mini CDMA | iPad Mini GSM | iPad Mini WiFi

v6.0.2 : iPhone 5 (A1428) | iPhone 5 (A1429) | iPad mini WiFi | iPad mini GSM | iPad mini CDMA

iOS 6.1.3
• Fixes a bug that could allow someone to bypass the passcode and access the Phone app.
• Improvements to Maps in Japan, Turkey, Germany and Poland
• Security fixes.
• Patches Evasi0n Jailbreak
• Fixes Facebook App

iOS 6.1.2 Software Update
• Fixes an Exchange calendar bug that could result in increased network activity and reduced battery life.

iOS 6.1.0 Software Update
• Larger "Report a Problem" button in Maps.
• New music controls on lock screen when you double-press home button.
• Siri can now purchase movie tickets via Fandango (USA only).
• LTE now works with several European, African, Asian and American carriers.
• Individual songs can once again be downloaded or deleted when using iTunes Match.
• An empty Passbook will automatically add a sample pass explaining passbook functionality. The pass text changes slightly for users in British English speaking countries, changing “movie tickets” to “cinema tickets” in the first sentence, and “theaters” to “cinemas” in the last sentence.
• Reset Advertising Identifier button now works.
• New cellular data option for iTunes (it is available from iOS 6.0).
• When setting up an iOS device for the first time with iCloud, it will now ask you to confirm your Apple ID password for FaceTime and iMessages. It will also ask you to confirm how you'd like people to reach you, and tells you that you can change these settings at any time later on.
• Fixed an iPhone 5 bug that prevented the phone from reconnecting to the cellular network when it lost connection for an extended amount of time.
• "Accessory attached" splashscreen removed. Bi-directional control now possible.
• Fixed a Bluetooth A2DP trigger delay - the beginning of the audio stream cut off (e.g. when navigating turn-by-turn, you heard "HT in .5 miles" instead of "TURN RIGHT in .5 miles" in your A2DP headset/speakers)[89]
• Security fixes.

iOS 6.0.2 Software Update
• Fixes a bug that could impact Wi-Fi

Tips for your iPad Mini

QUOTE(anarchy2cruo @ Jan 5 2013, 04:33 PM)
Install a software called 'Asus Ai Charger' in your pc. It will charge twice faster at ur pc n no more 'Not Charging' status for ur ipad.  thumbup.gif

hella yeah! but I don't THINK it will be that soon, at least end of Q2 2013? I don't know lol

anyway I will follow every generation of iPad Mini lineup. It's an amazing little device biggrin.gif

I'm agree on that battery life would suffer part, perhaps they come up with some kind of battery technology similar to their screen technology Retina Display ? Can last longer than non Retina drool.gif

I think the next iPad mini will be heavier due to rating display and faster processor. To compensate they will have to increase the battery size.

instead of wasting time to add ppl name as owner list, why not just put a poll? so they can just vote whatever model they bought.

Got one for my pops on the 26th at the most unlikely place - HN Ampang Point. I was early for my appointment and i saw there's a HN at Ampang Point so i went to look see. Asked a salesgirl and she said it's sold out and then seconds later as i was walking out a salesguy ran towards me and asked what capacity i wanted so i told him i wanted a 16gb black wifi model. He asked me to follow him and he opened up a cabinet and there it was! Before i could count how many there were, he quickly close the cabinet. I asked how many he had left and he just replied casually "very limited".

So, try and look for one at the most unlikely or remote authorised resellers and who knows, you could be pleasantly surprised as i did!

Decided to wait for the iPad Mini 2 instead...
If mounting rumours are right, it will launch in 1st half 2013, it's gonna be a worthy wait.. fingers crossed! Retina, better specs, etc drool.gif

Guys, anyone is using third party Smart Cover, it seems that I can't make mine work properly. The screen does not turn on and off automatically.

You order what model? Engrave or not? Location?

Any suggestion for another good cover for ipad mini? rclxms.gif

I think the smart cover is quite cool. One thing about smart cover is that it protects the front only, my friend had quite a cool idea by buying smart cover, then on the back he placed those clear rubber bumper stickers that you can find in IKEA for drawers.

Example here:

It only take 2 hrs to activate the line. I think you better check with maxis.

I'm using Rock Eternal also. Feels very nice to hold, not bulky.
One drawback is the inside is light gray color, so will get dirty easily. If it's black, it'll be perfect. thumbup.gif

I have tried the original smart covers and i'm quite annoyed with it frankly. The 'smart' function doesn't seem to function well.
Perhaps YMMV. This video demonstrates what i mean:

I am really, really lovin' the Zazzle Premium, can't recommend it enough. thumbup.gif
It's like the smart cover, only better because the magnets holds works fine, doesn't slip off easily and provides protection for the rear.

I am having same problem. Stop charging around 85%+ or so....I tried unplug and plug back the cable doesn't help. Have to turn off the Mini totally and restart it to get it charging.
I thought it was the 6.0.1 problem and upgraded to 6.0.2 still same problem.
Going to try using my iPhone 4 Adapter on next charge to try.

I had this problem when i was using my iPhone 5 charger to charge my iPad Mini. Reach 90%+ then stopped. However, things were back to normal i.e. can fully charge to 100% when i finally use my iPad Mini charger to charge.

Initially i didn't want to open up the iPad Mini charger as i wanted to keep it new, and the fact that i can use my iPhone 5 charger to charge my iPad Mini but boy i was so wrong! But everything is so identical but i just can't explain with my issues above rclxub.gif

i took me 3 and a half days to deliver. 16 wifi no engrave. ordered on 27 night, got it on 31 morning.
loving the hardware SO SO much, but cursing the software.
Have been an android user for some time and mini is my first idevice. Not so used to IOS, especially file transfer, and availability of apps.

I think yours consider the fastest, coz I ordered mine initially on the 19th but still preparing shipment on the 27th. Hence I managed to get one from C-Zone lowyat.

The adapter getting hot or the unit getting warm to touch is normal.
3hrs from 10 to 100% also sounds par for a 5W adapter.

I really hate the adapter as there is no grip at all to unplug it and somehow is too big to fully go into the port. Damn sounds like I am describing pr0n.

I own an iPad Mini !!! Bought one for myself for Christmas! smile.gif I took the "official" smart cover with a 3rd party back protector as i wanted to maintain its weight and size.

Main usage had been to read (magazines, news, books and comics), suft internet, check and reply emails, manage daily finance, take notes during meetings, watch movie, listen music and play some games (Blood Brothers).

After 2 weeks of using it, I must say that it does everything that I initially bought the iPad to do. The mini and weight makes it so convenient for me to carry it around to office and back.

Also, when I use it in the office, it's small size doesn't clutter up the space and in meetings, it's not too bulky. Also, it has now replaced my iPhone as my entertainment center as the battery life is much much much longer. I now do not need to charge my iPhone in the office and it'll last me a day smile.gif

In terms of the display, I must say that I had to take some time to get used to the "non-retina display" as I had the NEW iPad (aka iPad 3) which had retina display. To me, there is some slight differences... in the beginning but only when I use it for reading. Having said that, it didn't devoid me of any pleasure reading on it and after 2 weeks, I kind of got used to it.

My main gripe on the mini is that i can't seem to charge it to 100% without having to shut it down when it maxed at 88%- 90%. Will have to try out some of the suggestions from the earlier post and hope that this can be rectified.

Have to agree with that. With the extra amount to be fork out for cellular, I can also subscribe to Yes or other broadband to be use on the go...

I have only charged mine twice and it is ok to go all the way to 100%. Mine is a 16G Wifi, if that helps to provide additional info.

I bought iPad 4 from Apple store.. I'm still kinda thinking to change iPad mini.. Apple allow me to return for full refund in exchange of iPad mini..

What do you guys think?? I had iPad 2 before going for iPad 4.... I like the size of iPad mini. But the cons was it has the same hardware as iPad 2 only.. and no retina.. Retina is nice after few days with iPad 4.. but in terms of speed. I don't feel much difference from iPad 2... it's so hard to decide..

Need to unplug...switch other socket then can. Initially i tried a few sockets cannot.
So far what i read:
- need to use main outlet socket, cant use extension sockets(i used extension sockets)
- ipad mini charger too hot..shutdown itself as protective measure. ppl mentioned in air cond/ cool condition...can charge full up to 100%
- use high power Ipad charger no problem (big ipad)

Yes i can charge after unplug/plug but thats not how its suposed to work right ?

Updating the OS would not wipe out any data. It's similar to the OTA update for android.
Unlike Restore which will remove everything

I'm still hesitant in updating to 6.0.2 though as they are widespread reports on the battery drains

Is this your first purchase from the App Store? If yes, there will be a pre-auth sale to verify your credit card.
If you're using a debit card, then a pre-auth sale will show up for each purchase, but don't worry, it should be refunded to you in 16 days.

you must have plugged in into a USB hub, or a low powered USB port. 'Not charging' is misleading, it actually still charge, only very, very slowly. it will take about 5hrs for a complete charge to 100%

LOL! I just noticed it today. Suddenly got moon symbol near the clock time. Pretty weird. I turn it off after that.

The issue will resolve itself on January 7. So naturally the issue is still bugging my iDevices.

Yup. First time purchasing in App Store. 16 days? That's quite long lol.
Ya I'm using debit card btw.

Yep. The normal USB has lower power rating. After connecting to the power USB then I'm able to charge the iPad smile.gif

Despite what it says, your iPad mini IS charging, albeit very slowly.

Guys i plan to DIY a sleeve case.. Thinking to put neodymium magnets to activate sleep/on for the ipad. My question is...will the magnets damage the ipad ? from what i know neodymium are one of the strongest magnets.

Haha...not for savings purpose...but because i want to. Wud be cool to make my own ipad mini sleeve because i can customize it anyway i like. Was thinking to add the magnets...like smart cover..but dunno how much magnet strength can the ipad take. Since the sides of the ipad also covered with magnets. Just ordered my neodymium magnets..hopefully they're the weaker types...haha~

Guys anyone here using Maxis Wireless Broadband plan on iPad Mini like me?

The personal hotspot option is very weird, it was there and functional yesterday, but this morning it became unavailable (a button "Setup personal hotspot", when click only ask me to contact Maxis). Afternoon time it suddenly became usable again for tethering, but then became unavailable again after few hours.

Just curious if anyone is also facing the same problem and if there's any existing solution before I contact Maxis.

P.S. I had tried : reboot, airplane on/off, cellular on/off, wifi on/off, simcard take out/put back but still no avail.
APN setting were:
APN : maxisbb
Username : <empty>
Password : <empty>

Also tried
APN : maxisbb
Username : maxis
Password : wap

Still the same. The 3G connection on the device is working fine. Just unable to do internet tethering.

Install a software called 'Asus Ai Charger' in your pc. It will charge twice faster at ur pc n no more 'Not Charging' status for ur ipad. thumbup.gif

You can save on shipping, and it's convenient to have everything arrive together with your iPad mini. (though sometimes they deliver separately)

If you're into AppleCare Protection Plan, it'll be automatically activated for you.

May i ask, why the need for neodymiums as the magnets?

If money is not an issue, my suggestion would be to reverse engineer & salvage the magnets from a compatible smart cover.
At least you'll know that it's working, safe & won't damage your iPad.

My concern with using neodymiums as a DIY smart covers is, even if if doesn't damage your iPad, they might affect your other gadgets that you carry and travel with in close proximity of your iPad.

HDD storage, credit cards and other magnetic strip based cards will definitely be affected in the long run.

Hope this helps.

You can use any USB car charger that supports iPhone / iPad, paired with a Lightning to USB Cable at the moment. I haven't seen any good Lightning Car chargers in Malaysia yet.

I always have this problem on my iPad mini, it happen randomly.

Sometimes when switching to different WiFi connection, the whole device became extremely slow in connection speed (either in apps or safari). 1 syndrome is that when launch speedtest app and go to setting page, I would see the iPad mini having external IP of 255.255.255.255. At this point the iPad's wifi is almost unusable (extremely slow). The only way to resolve this is to reboot.

This is the only irritating thing about this iPad mini. There's no such problem on my iPhone which connects/switches to the same WiFi connection.

Last time when Apple launch 6.0.2 I thought this problem was fixed, but in fact it doesn't and still exists.

Anyone else?

Few things you can troubleshoot:

1. Reboot wireless router

2. Renew Wi-Fi lease on your iPad mini
---> Settings > Wi-Fi > "your wireless network"" > Renew Lease

If problem still persists, try this:
3. Perform a fresh reconnection between your iPad mini & the router.
---> Settings > Wi-Fi > "your wireless network"" > Forget this Network
You will have to re-enter your Wi-Fi password again.

Hope this helps.

If you guys using custom dns such as google dns, opendns those. It might cause that as well.

Cause 1 case for my friend is that he bought ipad mini, he have problem on App Store(super duper slow). then he realize, he is using google fns which is 8.8.8.8,8.8.8.4 i think. So he change back to did not use dns. The appstore works, wifi gone back to unifi supposed speed (5mbps)

I don't think it's the DNS causing problem, since my iPhone is also using google DNS and never had any problem, only the iPad mini.

Suspect there's some problem in iPad mini's iOS version hmm.gif

Had already tried all the above mentioned steps and the problem will still come back once in a while.
I don't think it's the DNS causing problem, since my iPhone is also using google DNS and never had any problem, only the iPad mini.

Suspect there's some problem in iPad mini's iOS version hmm.gif

If all else fails, perhaps you can try using manual TCP/IP for your iPad mini for access points that has issues. I much prefer it this way anyway, since i can sorta hide my device's presence from the router's DHCP server.

Hi guys. I know this had been asked before but I would like to bring it up again. I noticed my charger gets very hot when charging. Earlier I switched off (not sleep mode) my mini and let it charged from 15% using the supplied charger. After an hour I turned it back on and battery is at 52%. Then the charging stops there and charger was very hot at that time. I switched to a different socket and it continues to charge. Do u think I have a faulty charger or its normal? Though it is still charging while I'm posting this using my mini.

Yes, i tried iPhone with all sort of dns as well, no problem . Just iPad mini, and well, my friends did somehow improved in speed after tweak the dns at router.

Plus , he said after updating to 6.0.2, it do improved even with any dns.

I guess its really pure luck ,you might get a bit problem on here and there depend on your device that might different from other . rclxub.gif

After i ordered my magnets then i thought of that..haha!! because i keep them in one bag. Hmm because i cant really find other magnet types. I tried those in daiso..and it kinda worked but its really hard because the magnets are weak..and usually they wont work. Hopefully the ones i get wont be that strong..else..all my cards...gone~ hahaa! tried my friend's ipad smart cover..and the magnets seems really strong..esp those on the side. I dont think i wana reverse engineer...if i buy a smart cover i might as well use it. smile.gif Thanks for the thoughts...maybe i'll just make one without sleep function.

For those who has the battery issue, perhaps you can try to give Apple Support a call. They can be pretty helpful. And they will know best how to solve the issue for you, with the least inconvenience way for you.

My brother got the Jawbone Jambox Big bluetooth speakers. Sound surprisingly good.

For more affordable option, apparently Logitech Wireless Boombox has some of the best sound for its class.

http://reviews.cnet.com/speakers-speaker-s...7-35020101.html

I haven't heard it myself, but if the sound is the same as the S715i, then it is probably impressive.

The battery percentage display is just an estimate. For all iDevices that's working correctly, once the display percentage hits 100%, it's actually just 80-90%. It will continue to charge for the next 1 hour or so, using what's called trickled charging. This is to protect the battery from being damaged by overcharging.

Continued usage of the power adaptor after it hits 100% is fine, but not advisable.

Guys, for those who are really experiencing the not charging up to 100% issue, just give Apple Support a call. From the sound of it, it doesn't seem like isolated cases. They'll know best on how to solve it for you all.

Dont know if this has been mentioned before or not.
Google up AI Charger by asus. By using the utility installed, you can charge your ipad on your laptop/pc usb port. What it does is increase the amperage of your usb port. Really does charge faster..maybe faster than the stock adapter. I installed on Asus laptop Win 7, but heard it works for most PCs too asus or not.

Well. For some users who are like to tweak their iDevices. Jailbreak is necessary cause cydia tweak offers u many tweaks to custom ur ipad. For example can install AirBlue Sharing to allow ur iDevice transfer file using bluetooth to other devices. nod.gif
Jailbreak not meant for free apps download only. sweat.gif
There are many things u can do by jailbreak.

Wau..what phone ? S3 LTE ? Lumia 920 ? i seem to recall reading somewhere that only Lumia 920 supports malaysian LTE band. Currently tethering through bluetooth from S3 - ipad mini wifi. Battery life is decent for my phone..much better than WiFi hotspot. Using DG so bandwidth speed x matter...as DG already not fast...so the bluetooth speed is as fast as the HSPA connection itself..haha tongue.gif

smart move. actually mini wifi is so sufficient. cellular is just a waste of money. Tether hotspot from iphone will do the trick. Most places we are and we go all equip with wifi connection. Why pay 40% more for something which is dispensable? betul tak? biggrin.gif

i dont think tether from iPhone is a good idea, i did it last week when i went oversea, once the iphone run out of battery, you will end out loss connectivity to phone call and internet, with ipad maybe 70% of battery to swipe left and right.

in malaysia i get a data plan for the mini because i dont want to search for wifi hotspot all the time, which might be slow and insecure to do online banking transaction.

but i do agree that the rm400 increment to get cellular, as well as rm300 to get extra 16gb is too much, especially for Malaysian.

there still hope..... icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE
For Malaysia, LTE band will be running at:

a) 2600MHz (main band, confirmed)
+
b) 1800MHz (supplemantary band to be confirmed later time but this appeared in newspaper biz section)

note:
* Unlike 3G, LTE frequency band adoption is quite diversed by different country/region in the world.
There are 2600MHz, 2300MHz, 2100MHz, 1800MHz, 1700/2100MHz, 1700MHz, 1500MHz, 900MHz, 800MHz, 700MHz.

From Yahoo: Singapore Singtel & M1 also confirmed using 2600MHz + 1800MHz for their LTE (neighborhood countries mah, and telco here got partnership/share holding at there, Malaysia & Singapere always compatible, so this is strong indication of using both 2600MHz + 1800Mhz same here in Malaysia)

You can either use itune to transfer the file into the app or use web transfer by opening the app with url link. Download trial version of OPlayer to try it out.

TS maybe you can put in the known problem (charging, wifi connection) in the first post.

I agree with you. If do tethering from iPhone, I guess my iPhone would just died within hours. Which is why I chose to take broadband plan on my iPad and do tethering from my iPad. (My iPhone has no data plan)
iPad's battery is so much more durable compare to iPhone thumbup.gif

And I do bring my iPad mini everywhere brows.gif Since it's mini~ biggrin.gif

yea, if you able to bring mini all the time, tethering from ipad mini is the best to made iphone battery last, because using bt or wifi on iphone is much less battery consuming than using 3g, and the mini still able last 1 days with 2 device connected to internet. thumbup.gif

Hi i did faced the same problem. it stucked at 89% all the time. once reboot and continue charging, it goes to 100%. 89% and 100% doesnt make many difference to me so i dont bother.

In fact, i got another problem that really matters me. My mini doesn't seem to be very sensitive to touch especially at the edge of the screen. I need to press for a few times in order for it to sense my touch. And so happened that most buttons (like back button or refresh button in chrome) are at the edge.
Does anyone face the same problem? Wonder if it is just me, or it's normal to all mini.

I have sent to SC 2 days ago and i told them i read the news and it could be due to the adapter. They took my adapter to check and call me back yesterday to replace a new adapter for me. The problem is the adapter as my Iphone 4s adapter can charge my ipad Mini up to 100% without problem.

I know is abit dumb to ask this, do you buy your mini from Switch in QB, or you buy it online but you send to switch for repair?

I bought mine online, thinking whether i should ship them back, or there's any SC that i can drop by.

I think this is a "design flaw". Apple has desensitized the sides due to small bezel so you can rest your thumb on the edge of the screen and still use the touchscreen as if ur thumb didnt touch the screen. Its a software feature, but is there a way to turn it off? cant find any in the options. This is actually a feature but can also be a bug. Thats why buttons on the edges are not sensitive sometimes. Maybe need to rest your thumb then can click the button?? hahah~ I guess we have to live with it..

If you purchased the iPad Mini from Apple Store, they will normally send it out later to you.

But I don't remember seeing the SIRIM sticker too on the unit I purchased from C-Zone. Maybe will check it out later.

No need to add anything. Sometimes feel that courts is the best place to buy ipad.. Sumore alot of payment options also can use amex..i think can use maybank treatspoints as well. And most importantly... people usually wont think of Courts to buy gadget. So most of the time got stock..haha! Happened to my GF who was looking for ipad3 lastime and another friend looking for note 10.1.

Bought 16gb wifi. At that time they had 32gb/64gb Celular too.

You're right...don't think a lot of people will go to Courts to buy gadgets but they do have quite a variety of brands as well. The one I went in Cheras has got some iPad 2 for sale at discounted price (RM999 for demo unit) which I thought was a pretty good deal too. However, I asked last week, they dont have any stock for iPad Mini.

Hi sifu out there, I have an ipad2 before. So bought an iPad mini for my wife. So I planned to use same apple I.d so that all the app I bought she can use. But how to avoid the contact, calender, notes, and other thing synching together. I want mine is mine hers is hers.
*
Icloud and itunes id is in different category.
In my case my wife is using my us apple id for downloading apps . She has her own apple id for Icloud so does me. Only sharing the us id for downloading apps. Key in another or create a new apple id for her in Icloud should do.

Why do you leave your iPad Mini charge overnight.... it's not recommended. Lucky it didn't blow up (which could have happen)

Putting a timer to cut-off after 4hours is more than sufficient.

Texas Mac Man Richardson, Texas
Re: ipad mini not charging USB from PC*
Nov 30, 2012 6:34 AM (in response to MomUnit)

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.

Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery

http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-y...r-ipad-battery/

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy...et,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

I think most iDevices now will have a relay to stop charging the battery when it's full. Some might say that it could deteriorates the battery life but the I think that it's normal. You can't expect a 1 year old battery to be performing as good as a new one.

Apple Explains New iPad's Continued Charging Beyond 100% Battery Level
Tuesday March 27, 2012 12:06 pm PDT by Eric Slivka
Among the many topics related to charging, battery, and heat issues with the new iPad, observers have noted that the device continues to charge for up to an hour after the point at which the iPad reports a charge level of 100%.

AllThingsD has now spoken with Apple's Michael Tchao about the phenomenon, with Tchao noting that it is simply an effect of the same trickle charging feature that has always been included in iOS devices.

So, here’s how things work: Apple does in fact display the iPad (and iPhone and iPod Touch) as 100 percent charged just before a device reaches a completely charged state. At that point, it will continue charging to 100 percent, then discharge a bit and charge back up to 100 percent, repeating that process until the device is unplugged.

Doing so allows devices to maintain an optimum charge, Apple VP Michael Tchao told AllThingsD today.

“That circuitry is designed so you can keep your device plugged in as long as you would like,” Tchao said. “It’s a great feature that’s always been in iOS.”

Tchao notes that users can expect 10-hour battery life on the new iPad regardless of when in that trickle charge/discharge cycle they unplug their device, and that Apple intentionally displays the battery level at 100% throughout that cycle so as to not confuse consumers who might otherwise think their device is not completing charging correctly.

Anyone made a complaint to Apple and manage to get change to a new charger as our charger is faulty and can only charge until 89-91% and not 100%? I think Apple should change for free.the charger.

Screenshot - Two ways.

1. Press home + power button simultaneously.
2. Use the "assistive touch" function.

Tricks:

Multi-touch gestures.
1. 5 finger pinch - close app
2. 5 finger swipe up - expose multi-tasking bar
3. 5 finger swipe left - switch to last opened app

Shake to Undo

from the above 2 cases, Belk and Rock, what happens when the front cover is opened? Does it fold back flat or is there some crease / bulge on the hinge?

As you may know the original design smart cover can open 180degrees and fold back flat...

Just bought mine at SenHeng yesterday. it's a little trick purchasing from them. Basically, the price of the iPad mini is exactly the same standard price sold at Machines. Only difference is that they will ask you to purchase together their own extended product warranty which cost around 200++. If you refuse, you may either choose a package of added accessories worth $200 (casing+screen protector). They won't allow you to buy the device only, although they try not to be direct about that.
The only reason why I chose SenHeng is because they have a lot of branches and their stocks are a little more than Machines or any other authorized Apple dealer. Another reason is because only SenHeng/SenQ that offers up to 24 months installment for selected CC (up to 36 month for RHB). Any other place like Machines and Switch stores only offers up to 12 months.
So, if you insist on SenHeng, what you can try is to request add-on for screen protector only. E.g. My iPad mini is 16gb wifi only model. The device price is $999, CC one time charge is $85 plus $20 for processing, and $109 for screen protector add-on package (there's two SP inside). Yes, it's a bloody expensive SP, but compare paying $109 to get an iPad mini for installments with other cash-only or paid-in-full transaction, I think it's a fair deal.

$999 + $85 + $20 + $109 = $1213
This is the 16gb wifi only model, paying using CC.

For cash, just deduct the $85 and $20.

from the above 2 cases, Belk and Rock, what happens when the front cover is opened? Does it fold back flat or is there some crease / bulge on the hinge?

As you may know the original design smart cover can open 180degrees and fold back flat...

I have both rock n belk. My rock case have some crease at the hinge. But for belk it can be flat. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes, I am a PlusOne member and they did mention about the added 1 yr warranty. In my honest opinion, warranty for Apple product is bullshyt. Just a slight dent and it will void your warranty. By a year or so, if you survive any minor drop, your inside will have some water marks and they'll claim that the device has been exposed by water, which will automatically void the warranty. Its just not worth it.

Yes, I know the only reason they add these unnecessary charges is to earn more commission and profit because the fact is, Apple product gives the least commission to the sellers. The profit is not even 1%. So unless I know someone inside, its still the best alternative to just get the cheapest add on package for ios device there. Of course if I have the cash, I'd rather get it straight from Apple store itself.

There's lot of alternatives available, quite a number of sellers too here in LYN. No need to burn a hole in your pocket with the original smart cover.

Just received my Mini today, and been wondering, can we adjust the video resolution captured from 1080p to 720p?

If using default 1080p, 1hr of video recorded took almost 8GB

Most of the forumers have no problem receiving it because it's trackable, unless your area is not service by them.

Guys, my ipad mini cellular is having problem connecting to cellular network this past few days. Once it goes off to no service (due to im taking the lift for example) then I need to reboot in order to get back online. Im on celcom.

Turning off cellular or on off the airport mode doesnt help.

No issue with wifi.

Anyone else having same issue? Any solution?

So, that means that I own an iPad Mini! biggrin.gif

Apparently, they restocked, but I think stock is very limited. I went around 10:40am and there were already plenty of people buying it.

iPad mini can playback H.264 MPEG-4 up to 1080p codec videos. You may drag and drop most of the new downloaded content that's encoded in H.264 MPEG-4 into iTunes and sync the videos. If you sort the video nicely, (list them under Movies / TV Shows, rename title, add album art), it will appear beautifully in your iPad.

If you wish to transfer non-compatible codecs, you'll have to use any of the many video converters available.

Hope this helps.

Not every time. It will shorten your battery's lifespan. Once every 2 months is fine to recalibrate your battery.
It's recommended to recharge when it hits the low battery warning.

As an ipad mini user, and an avid reader, I must tell you that im loving it!! I read a lot, novels, journals, magazines, and my ipad mini is a great companion for me..been using it for reading when im on my bed, on the couch, and on the move..trust me, you wont regret it..

If you want to read kindle-type books, then you can download the kindle app...other than that, the native ibook app will do just fine.. smile.gif

Edit : i owned an ipad 2 before, and i found that it's too heavy and bulky to hold and carry when i hold it in my hands to read on bed...so ipad mini is really a great device for me smile.gif

Of course I do hope the new batch they change the adaptor, instead of purchase it, and go to charge it again.

Thanks for the reply. Good news then. rclxms.gif May I know you purchase online?

The meaning of wifi not that good is in term of signal strength or speed? I experience before is same distance from the Wifi router, my laptop can get almost full bar signal or only 1 bar to full, but I try another tab (non-apple product), can't even connect, or after connect not stable, I need to be quite near to the router only can get stable wifi. sweat.gif

Yup, ordered online, and yup, wifi is not that strong compared with ipad 2. Before I got full bars in my room, now max only 2. Downloading apps also slow (but this might be the cloud servers).

I got mine within 4 days..but i think it's on case to case basis..might depend on stock availability, engraving as well as delivery location..and sometimes there's delay in the clearance process.

yes i suppose it is too hot. last time i tried charging in aircond environment and it doesnt seem to have that problem. however i think it is a design problem, coz i use my ipod charger which has the same output rating in the same environment and it manage to charge the ipad to 100%.

I set the brightness at 40% only, and turned on auto-brightness.

If you do a lot of gaming, the usage time will definitely be lower. For me, I do mostly reading. Not much gaming.

I had the same problem. But someone here asked to try drain the battery till zero and then charge it again... And it works for me!

You should try this too.
