My prediction on price:

8GB - RM999
16GB - RM1199

Justification:

1. RM999 will kill Nexus 7, the hottest selling tablet in October at Digital Mall, Seksyen 14.
2. RM1199 will price it alongside iPad 2, making it lighter/smaller version of the basic iPad 2 with the same capacity and specs.

My prediction on specs:

16:9 resolution <- Similar to iPhone 5
No GPS, NFC
Front and back camera
Same specs as iPad 2
A6 chip, instead of A5X

Justification:

1. 16:9 seems to be Apple's new de facto size for mobile. Having the same ratio as the iPhone 5 will stop fragmentation problems for new apps. Current apps will have black bars on the side. No big deal.

2. There is no need for GPS as Apple Maps sucks. The iPad Mini is designed primarily to compete with Kindles and 7-inch Androids. There is no motivation for Apple to include GPS. Furthermore, all Wifi-only iPads have never included a GPS.

If they include NFC, who are you going to NFC with? Don't expect NFC on Apple products until it is featured in iPhones.

3. Front? Facetime! Apple won't neglect the camera for its propriety software and camwhores.

4. If you out-spec iPad 2, you will cannibalise the remaining iPad 2 stock and the newer iPad 3.

5. The A5 chip, same as the one in the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, is smaller than the A5X chip on the iPad 3. But the A6 chip found on the iPhone 5 is even smaller and more efficient. Makes sense to have the smallest chip for the iPad "Mini". No?

Additional notes:

Assuming that the OS for iPad Mini and iPad 2 is completely similar, the 8GB model will have a usable storage space of 5.5GB. I.E. A 8GB model is not very useful.

Assuming that the OS for iPad Mini and iPad 3 is completely similar, the 8GB model will have a usable storage space of 6.7GB. I.E. A 8GB model will sell like crazy.

For comparison, the Nexus 7's usable space is 5.92GB. But do keep in mind that it is very easy to configure the Nexus 7 for external media use, compared with any iPad.

Conclusion:

I'm really happy that consumers will get to choose between the Nexus 7 (more features, less apps) and iPad Mini (less features, more apps).

I'm really torn between getting a Nexus 7 (freedom, GPS, NFC) and a iPad Mini (Apps, apps and more quality apps). Might have to get both.

Note 2 is in a different product class - Phone.

But for the sake of discussion, I would like to posit the following: A6 > Exynos > Tegra 3

I will be happy to be proven wrong. I like Nvidia products in general.

although rumour got 8GB, but i really cannot believe they wanna do it...

my bet would be 16GB 1099 (USD 349), 32GB 1399 (USD 449), 64GB 1699 (549), cellular add 400 (USD 130)

if got 8GB i think would be 999 (USD 299), wifi only

Hopefully it was not so expensive then I will consider buy it lolz... also hopefully that the weight are not heavy....

It was launch today..... So happy..... Cant wait for it anymore.....

Different time zone, we hope they will put in 16:9 ratio this time and not the 4:3 awkward traditional ratio.

Too bad most likely the resolution will be either 1024x768 or 1280x720, no retina!
But it still good if the price is low
