Just a question. I have a friend that also interested of doing this career with me. Willing and have same passion with me.
Unfortunately, he has a color blind condition, partial of course. Graduated with degree of mech eng.

What's your advice/opinion? his chances of getting employed afterwards?

Well, I think that depends on company hiring policies... There's 1 Senior Tech about 45+ years old is mute and deaf but very good in skill and knowledge.. There's also 1 partial colour blind joined Air Asia as Junior Tech a year ago (my ex-colleague but he had not been employed quite a while). All depends on your luck actually.

Hi Guys, necromancing this thread.

I have few questions, I hope you can enlighten me:

1. What's the job opportunity of LAME in Malaysia?
2. What's the salary outlook?
3. Will you get a pilot license too?

and last, is APR-ATC LAME certificate recognised oversea?

Greetings.
Am replying to an old thread.. almost a year..

1. Right now, virtually nil because of covid19 pandemic.. but things will kick in once we are are over this and the airlines starts to hire.
2. Salary varies from one airline to another. More value if you have experience and several aircraft type ratings to boot.
3. You can get your own pilot license lah.. Maintenance license is not the same as flying license meh.. You got B2, would you get class D? No isn't it?

No certificate from any training school even though it's approved under Part 147 Training Organization Approval.
What being recognized/accepted is the LICENSE by the local authorities, in our case it's CAAM.

Standard ruling.
NOT colour blind is a prerequisite to employment in aviation industry not withstanding the support services in the industry eg. HR, finance, accounts etc.

Most if not ALL airlines and MROs have this standard ruling.

Thank you for the response. My son already enrolled into this last year. Currently the Pandemic is affecting the learning. Online class is not recommended yet because of existing CAAM ruling. And right now the OJT is also kaput. doh.gif

Nothing much can be done but I know a few trainees is under going OJT with certain outfit, probably because of small numbers.
It's back to the ATO to talk/negotiate with the intended place of OJT.
Fixed wing trainees are facing this problem now due to most airlines are not operating as opposed to rotary wings as they are still in operations.

Let's hope and pray hard that this pandemic will be over soon... the whole world is facing the same issues.

I was cleaning up my bookmarks and saw this thread.. so I checked it out.. With FB, forum activities are quite slow unlike the good old days when I am always in the Audiophile section.

Left the airline industry way back in 2009 (AirAsia) now in a local privately owned MRO.
So I am still somewhat in the aviation industry.

Hey.. so far so good. Good to be alive and 'working' during this dreaded pandemic.

MH is about to 'close shop' as Khazanah is no longer interested to pump anymore monies in MAB..

Something is about to happen so keep your eyes/ears open eh..? wink.gif
