Even apple also say its normal scenario =.= no point for went into fighting case =.=

from my experience this noon at maxis centre THE GARDENS... open a box white unit 32gb... dent at the bottom part... and request an exchange... and yes, they do for me on the spot and take about 30min...

now ladies and gentlemen, it is not about scuff... it is DENT !!! even the product checking person report to me... saying that malaysia batch is quite serious with these problem...

up until now, my thought: hold first if u want to purchase from apple store online... and yes u can proceed to maxis centre buy, at least u can check it on the spot...

WARNING: the maxis guy do tell me "CHECK BEFORE STEP OUT FROM THE CENTRE"... once out, no more exchange... careful everyone

just check it before step out... scuffgate issued already claimed by apple as it is NORMAL for every unit...

Added on December 14, 2012, 3:34 pmDude..nobody's want to fight apple..I'm talking about Maxis here..they can always accept and return them to Apple (They can do it during the launch..I'm don't why I can't now..don't tell me all the defects they just accepts them as their losses right?)...people in US can easily come into Apple store and exchange a new one..means they accepting it's an issue...Tribunal court doesn't cost a bomb plus you can claim back all your expenses.

but when i collect my phone... they repeat and repeat to me "pls check your phone before walk out from the centre"... it makes me feel some fishy over there =/

digi dint say anything, some of them even walked out without open the box...

Not only scuffgate. Some iphone home button come out dead from right out of the box

Thanks bro..Mine they didn't say anything at all which questions their procedures..if you don't want such problems..enforce them...insist the buyers to thoroughly check all their purchases before leaving or make them acknowledge in a form or anything that relieved them from such claims if the users refused..If any of those who pre-booked with maxis might remember..there's a form that they ask us to sign before we went in to get our devices...there's a checkbox where it says something like 'I have check the devices..bla bla bla'..which I obviously didn't tick them as I haven't got the device yet at that moment..which questions their procedures and motif..

mine even got sound when shake...

To be fair, If i'm Maxis, i will do the same to you too. You already bring back to home, no one know what you did to the phone. If you opened in front of the counter then different story. You choose to bring back home to open the seal, then you should bear the risk. If anythings can go back to them mean somethings like hardware failure, not some problem that can be cause by a soft hit on the edge.

It will depend of branch whether they wan to change for you or not ? Apple claims it is normal.

I confront them this morning at Capsquare once they open in front of me. The dent is there. They claim it is normal to have those on aluminium casing, if want to complain and write an email to Apple and ask for approval

what to do, even apple logo design also not perfect. What all know apple (apply logo with a bite gone) is not perfect from day one. It will be funny if apple tell the world 'look at our logo, did you see the apple is perfect?' So it's normal for ip5.

I have a tiny hole dent on my i5 black.. Can't put screen protector at the back.. So visible with the bubble popping out.. Told maxis and they said cosmetic defect they will not change 1 to 1.. Unless hardware.. I say fu*k them.. I called up apple can lodge a complain towards maxis.. Boycott them.. I suggest all that has defect and wasn't replace by maxis, please file an complain towards apple.. Call their toll free number.. The more customers complain the better.. Because apple told me by right maxis should change it.. Lets call apple all together.. Once enough complains I think Apple will take this seriously and will call up MAXIS for discussion!

mine white, perfect out of box.

No scuffgate at the sides, but after i removed the back plastic protector, i noticed there's a dot of paint ship at the back part. Brought it back to Cap Square and argued for 15 minutes finally they agreed to exchange another unit, saying that if the replacement unit also has cosmetic defect (better or worst than first set) then cannot change anymore. Fortunately the replacement set is perfect

Yes, they keep saying cosmetic defect is normal and Apple instruct them cannot exchange even if you found the scuff on the spot. Shouted and scold them and i refuse to leave until they finally agree for the exchange.. very bad and unfair policy Maxis..

Yeah, same here, they brief me for about 30minutes, check every single mm and everything, once confirm sign, walk out, any scuff dent or anything no waranty LOL !
