Nokia's third and most affordable Windows Phone 8 smartphone offers youthful appeal

Espoo, Finland and Paris, France - Nokia today introduced the Nokia Lumia 620, the third and most affordable in its range of Windows Phone 8 smartphones. Alongside the flagship Nokia Lumia 920 and mid-range Nokia Lumia 820, the Nokia Lumia 620 offers a more fun, youthful appeal, and compact design.

The Nokia Lumia 620 uses a new dual-shot color technique to deliver a variety of striking color and texture effects. Dual-shot adds a second layer of colored, transparent or translucent polycarbonate on top of a base layer to produce secondary color blends and depth effects. With seven different exchangeable shells to choose from, people can adapt the look of their Nokia Lumia 620 to their own personal taste and style.

Among the features shared with the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820 are exclusive camera lenses that transform the creative power of the Nokia Lumia 620's five megapixel main camera and VGA front-facing camera. The Cinemagraph lens adds simple animations to still photographs, while Smart Shoot creates a single, perfect shot from multiple images, even removing unwanted objects from the picture.

The Nokia Lumia 620 also provides access to the world's best maps and location experience, including Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, Nokia Transport and the exclusive Nokia City Lens. Nokia City Lens displays information about local surroundings overlaid onto buildings as seen through the camera viewfinder.

it's normal for a front facing camera to have a low resolution so what's the problem

If the price is around 700+ might end up just buying this one rather than to wait for 820 to drop price.

no problem, just a little bit disappointed, i though 1.3mp is the lowest MP for front camera nowadays

VGA front camera still survives at this point..

But the price is equal to 2 620. This could be a good enough one for normal day-to-day use.

Its more than good enough for day to day use. the only thing that I don't like about this model is that it does not have the interchangeable cover feature of the 610. This also means that 620 has a fixed battery - and too many holes on its cover. Number of holes: charger, SIM card, SD card, head set and two other holes that I don't recognize. If it has an interchangeable cover I would be getting a second Windows Phone next year!

You need to remove the cover to insert sim and sdcard, so the cover only got 3 holes: speaker, micro-usb, and 3.5mm jack port

lol the cover really attracts me.. might get this or 820 if price is good

have you seen the pictures? and the position of the volume rocker, lock button and the camera button. I see no where at the back that allows the cover to be removed.

from the look of the design, I would not want to open the cover too often - unlike the 610, I can open and close it whenever I am bored and got nothing to do!

If you notice in the youtube link, it say USD250 without taxes. This is also consistent with the price in WP central where they factor in the tax. So I think you won't get it for lower than RM750.

IINM the prices of Nokia phones in Malaysia is cheaper as opposed to the ones being sold in the US.

I would rather nokia price it at RM900 and give us 8MP camera in Lumia 620 then it would be perfect. Missing is also Gorrila glass.

LOL, Lumia 620 is made in Finland? A little surprising as all those news said Nokia is trying to cut cost and even Lumia 920 is made by Foxconn (IIRC, do correct me if I am wrong, thx).

Although at $250 the Lumia 620 is the cheapest Windows Phone 8 by far, if you have $50 extra, you could get a higher-end phone, unlocked. The Google Nexus 4 is $300 contract free, has a larger 4.7-inch high-resolution screen, a better camera at 8MP, 2GB of RAM and a quad-core processor -- so unless you want a Windows Phone 8 specifically, the Nexus 4 is a better option for a just that extra $50.

That's if you live in a country where the Nexus 4 is being subsidized by Google.Over here the price of a nexus 4 is 1599 which is still imo pretty okay but the price difference between the lumia 620 is too large.
