I'm using clear card. My annual fee charging is approaching this month so I call the CS. They agree to waive my upcoming annual fees.

It says here : Minimum 2. But the FAQ didn't mention if we can choose not to subscribe any category or not.

Edit : Ok I dig more in the T&C

https://www.citibank.com.my/english/credit-...um-card-tnc.pdf

It says (refer to page 2), for the 1st year you must subscribe minimum 2 category. Following year, you may subscribe none or any number of reward category.

Ok so, it is possible to subscribe none icon_idea.gif Since the 1st year is free of AF, so i got nothing to loose! Almost 2nd year, I just cancel all category and go back to x1 point.

No more talking to Citibank CS every year!

Great, another informative news thumbup.gif

if i read the T&C correctly, 2nd year category AF can be waived according to our 1st year spending, which is free for every rm15k spend.. so, if i spend more than rm15k in 1st year, can consider to sign 1 category on 2nd year..

i think the 1st yr condition of 2 category applies only to new card holders, additional new cards. upgrade from gold, etc. not applicable.

but new cards will get bonus 20,000 pts, upgraders not applicable.

really, nothing to lose by changing from gold to rewards. i think they are pushing all "old" cards like gold to this rewards as a streamlining/consolidating exercise. my read is if you do not change, they will not waive the af for gold card in the future that easily.

one thing about citibank cards... tesco, giant, jusco, cold storage all part of the cashback or 5x pts but... jaya grocer is not. i wish this one will be included soon as i find this chain attractive in terms of selection, freshness and prices... better than the rest, imo.

yea, so free category is some of the points i need to clarify on phone with the citi ppl before i decide lo.

tesco n aeon accept maybank amex... that is better as it gives me 5% cashback n x5 point, which equals to about 7% cashback. by comparison citi x5 is about 2.5% cashback only i believe.

of course this is only applicable if you shop on weekends. on weekday mbb amex drop to equivalent of 2% only

so for ppl like me which has both card, i dun see the attraction of x5 on citibank that much tongue.gif

ya, i agree... as consumers, we will try our best to get max benefit in everything as banks, developers, banks try their best to suck the max from us. tongue.gif

e.g. today, i spend rm400 at jaya grocer but i will get only normal citibank points. why do i choose to do that?

not so much that i diehard support any bank but more like i stay away from maybank as they are shit in other banking services. i am also going to spend less at tesco becos this joint that i use to frequent do not seem interested to sell me pork and carlsberg cans. they do have those offers but is now making it very difficult for me to buy - no person manning the non-halal counter, credit card machine always down, need to pay cash, normal counters refuse to touch tis n tat (not sure tis is little napoleons at work or co. policy) , so... ok, i just go away spend at jaya grocer where the foreign workers have no problem but keep smiling. biggrin.gif

sometimes, lose a little discount, give up a few points is alright - feel better and not being humiliated, just wanna eat sausage and drink beer.

my gold card never been charged with annual fee, i dont know why.. this make me feel uncertain to change it, since the rewards card have very limited shop in the category.. they should make it general like other cards, all grocery or all electrical shop using MCC codes..

r u sure no af? or you paid without knowing?! biggrin.gif

well, it is possible i suppose for some cards. i did have one direct access card which clearly stated it is free-for-life when i got it. trouble with that card was was too plain, no cashback, points and redemption program not good, discounts at promo shops/restaurants less than regular cimb cards!

anyway, i just got the rewards card. was told it'll take 2 weeks but actually only a few days. the gold card will auto-deactivate after 90 days. good news is there is no need to do anything else, everything transparent to me - no need to change card nos. for auto-debits, e-statements will auto replace, etc. pretty hassle free, nothing to lose...

I meant to call citibank today, but who knows suddenly received a call from them earlier today.

for upgrade, you can only get 1 free category for free for a period of 1 year...

no other benefits.

I just redeemed 10,000 points for my 2nd year GST. Just curious to know how long would it take for them to reflect the RM50 credit in my Citibank online statement?

Regarding PM Amex card - the promotion for 60K Enrich miles mentions one condition that the Annual Fee must be paid as one of the conditions. Is it normally possible to ask the AF to be waived after it's been charged to the account and paid already?

Hey congrats on winning a ticket, I did check on the website and its not late to register yourself in the contest, as long as you register yourself during the period then the previous tickets that you have won is still counted.
But my advice is to better register now because there’s no charges on it , who know you maybe the lucky winner 
Also for the SMS sent from Citibank to ask for reply Y5. Basically its just a reminder from Citibank la, to make sure we all register only. Once registered can also… no worries
*
thanks for bringing this up.

i had registered and had so far, just 1 sms saying i got 1 ticket. but i deleted that sms...

how do i know if i won something?

no idea about pm amex, but for any card to my knowledge, the af is billed auto, you shud pay first, the waiver (if granted) will be credited in the next 1 or 2 months. if u do not pay first, it complicates mattters, i.e. they will charge interest and late penalty - then u start screaming again!

Not in this case, they will not waive the RM600 no matter what. This is spell out clearly before you sign up for this particular card. If you feel RM600 is not worth paying for 60k enrich miles, look elsewhere.
