i'm curios with citibank credit limit calculation. it looks like different from other bank.

in my statement, i have rm5k spending limit + rm5k installment limit. if maybankard, the installment is part of card limit. means the total of installment will be set off from the credit limit.

but citibank, they have separate limit for normal spending limit and installment? so if i make installment, it wont affect the credit limit? just want to get clearer info. because last i know, my credit limit is rm5k only. with this installment limit, i have rm10k credit?

@namh, I did ask the before.

Ultimately, your credit limit is bounded by the Total Credit Limit
*
QUOTE(shoduken @ Mar 10 2013, 12:18 AM)
for credit card, you can only use max rm5k
for cash on call, you can use rm10k because credit card limit can be converted to cash on call

OR

after u use up to rm5k credit limit, you can cash on call the rm5k turn into instalment, and then u will have another rm5k available as credit limit
*
in short, i have rm10k to be use?

Hi everyone,

I just received a call from Citibank.. She mentioned that I entitled a promotion benefit that is for Citibank Mastercard only..

It is sort of like an Insurance, and she mentioned that no extra or hidden charges for this benefit..

And let say If every month you have balance in your account is not clear after the end of the due date, you would only need to pay a (min or max, not sure) of 69 cents only..

Gosh, she talk so fast and I the reply I gave was just ok ok ok, yes yes yes.. =.="

It sound like another tele-marketing scam to me.. Now I'm really scare will kena monthly charges liao..  sad.gif
*
i think it is this: Citibank Credit Shield Plus

it is not a scam.. it is an insurance product by Citibank to provide coverage in case you got into accident, so they will clear off your debt.. as a insurance, you do need to pay.. if i'm not mistaken, you will be charged if you have balance after the payment date, and maybe that is 69cent per day.. i might wrong with the number..

anyway, it is up to you to take the insurance or not.. i think anyone who settle all their payment by payment date dont need this insurance..

As usual, it is not easy to get rewards from Citibank. As in their T&C:

QUOTE
the first 1500 Successful Applicants who each makes a retail purchase of the following tier and swiping the said successfully approved Citibank Credit Card at least 3 times within 60 days after such approval date (“Qualifying Period”) will receive the Gift:

RM800-RM3,499: 1 unit of Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club Hardcase Trolley Bag (20 inches)
RM3,500 and above: 2 units of Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club Hardcase Trolley Bag (1 unit of 20 inches + 1 unit of 24 inches)

Bro, this is because Citibank found a loop hole to increase their card holder CL without needing the cardholders' consent. Only recently they separated CL for retail and installment plans.
*
you mean, this separate credit limit for retail + installment is the loop hole use by Citibank?

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Oct 6 2013, 05:35 PM)
Yes, because unlike previously (and for most credit cards in the market) where the credit used for installment plans will also means that you have used up the credit limit line, now it is no longer the case for Citibank credit cards.

For example, say my credit limit is RM80,000 last year.

In July 2013, I received a letter from Citibank and it goes as follows:

Effective July 2013
Card Credit Limit (X) = RM80,000
Installment Plans Limit (Y) = RM69,000
TOTAL CREDIT LIMIT (X) + (Y) = RM149,000

So, Citibank DID NOT ask my consent if they could increase by Credit Limit as required by BNM, but as you can see, my effective credit limit has increased.
*
ok, now i got it as why citibank give separate credit limit on installment.. it is to increase the credit limit without user consent.. another tactic by citibank, which recently i think always sneakily try to trick user.. no auto waived annual fee, tiered and complicated cash rebate calculation and hard to win t&c lucky draw..

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Oct 8 2013, 08:06 PM)
Bro I reread the letter Citi sent to me again, the increase in credit limit granted to me is temporary for about 3 months (expiring soon) and the one and only reason why Citi increased my credit limit was to entice me in signing up for their loan products. Click here to my article Avoid The Shit Hole of Debt by Getting Free Financial Tuition From Me where I posted the evidence of Citibank increasing my Credit Limit without my consent (even if it is for 3 months - it is still an increase without me requesting for it). I also posted a letter Citi sent to my wife offering increase in Credit Limit; and to accept the offer, all she has to do is sms in.
*
another trick by Citibank.. and their CS is the most caring to me because always call me to offer their Credit Shield and Cash Advance..

but i still keep my Citibank Gold CC as backup because of flat rate offer rm10 at TGV and i got no Annual Fee on this card.. i dont know why but they never charge me Annual Fee, while i see other user complain need to call every year to waive Annual Fee..

gud to see u here! biggrin.gif

i was in same situation as you. i called them yesterday, asked some questions and agreed to change from gold to plat reward - becos i hv nothing to lose.

that af600... why? only true (rm500) if you subscribe to all the 5x points categories. if you take none, there is no af, no need to ask for waiver anymore. depending on where you most likely spend, choose 0, 1...5 categories:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

if you choose just 1, af is rm100, total rm15k spending will get it auto waived . more categories, more spending req'd for waivers. anyway, they will give you waiver for 1st year, ask them.

do you have their platinum cashback card? this one no points, just cashback, good for petrol and groceries. so, for me this cashback card and the reward card will cover almost all spending - cashback for some spending, 5xpoints for others. the rest, just normal points with the reward card.

the mail has all details. if not, a call and a visit to the website, u wil b clear.
*
WoW, thank you for the list of shop.. i also got letter offering this platinum rewards card.. i seldom use my gold card, usually just for TGV flat rate rm10.. now the TGV promo will be ended this year, maybe want to keep the gold card in drawer.. then come this platinum reward offer.. but got to choose which categories.. not choosing any categories also can? so no Annual fees will be charged thumbup.gif

It says here : Minimum 2. But the FAQ didn't mention if we can choose not to subscribe any category or not.

Edit : Ok I dig more in the T&C

https://www.citibank.com.my/english/credit-...um-card-tnc.pdf

It says (refer to page 2), for the 1st year you must subscribe minimum 2 category. Following year, you may subscribe none or any number of reward category.

Ok so, it is possible to subscribe none icon_idea.gif Since the 1st year is free of AF, so i got nothing to loose! Almost 2nd year, I just cancel all category and go back to x1 point.

No more talking to Citibank CS every year!
*
Great, another informative news thumbup.gif

if i read the T&C correctly, 2nd year category AF can be waived according to our 1st year spending, which is free for every rm15k spend.. so, if i spend more than rm15k in 1st year, can consider to sign 1 category on 2nd year..

i think the 1st yr condition of 2 category applies only to new card holders, additional new cards. upgrade from gold, etc. not applicable.

but new cards will get bonus 20,000 pts, upgraders not applicable.

really, nothing to lose by changing from gold to rewards. i think they are pushing all "old" cards like gold to this rewards as a streamlining/consolidating exercise. my read is if you do not change, they will not waive the af for gold card in the future that easily.
one thing about citibank cards... tesco, giant, jusco, cold storage all part of the cashback or 5x pts but... jaya grocer is not. i wish this one will be included soon as i find this chain attractive in terms of selection, freshness and prices... better than the rest, imo.
*
my gold card never been charged with annual fee, i dont know why.. this make me feel uncertain to change it, since the rewards card have very limited shop in the category.. they should make it general like other cards, all grocery or all electrical shop using MCC codes..

CS upgraded my card on Dec 17th from gold to reward platinum. Waited until Jan 9th still didn't received the new card. Called CS and they say poslaju delivered it on Jan 7th. I say i didnt see any card saying they attempt to deliver. Get them to route the card to my office. I don't understand what people will be at home on a weekday to received package...

So i gave them my address and they say will request poslaju to route it but someone else will call me back to double confirm. Very slow n even AEON credit card got better logic to offer to sent to your office instead.

you got letter offering the upgrade from gold to reward platinum? do you need to submit any document for the upgrade? i got the offer too, but might let it go if need to submit any document wink.gif

here is Citibank Malaysia link: https://www.citibank.com.my/english/readycredit/index.html

"Ready Credit is a “pay-per-use” overdraft facility, thus interest will only be charged to the amount utilised from your overdraft limit on a daily basis and is chargeable until the outstanding amount is fully paid."
