hey guys, i have a question for QOS.

So let's say i have a few people using wireless and another set of people using the Ethernet line. Router = Linksys WRT54GL v1.1 flashed with V23.

Problem is, how does i setup QoS so it's limitations are imposed on individual users (individual ips of each computer), instead of the services?

I tried adding the list of ips to Netmask Priority, changing the priority there, and leaving all other settings by default. Am i doing it right? Does not seem to work very smoothly sometimes when my housemate is raping the line with porn downloading. EDIT: The key here is to QOS my housemate's PC only while leaving other pcs normal because that idiot needs a lesson taught.

U can use Access Restriction. I know tomato 1.13 can do some setting..like below picture..Not sure about DD-WRT v23.

thanks alot! From prasys' review, tomato does seem much more appealing than DD-wrt. Meh, cant flash it to tomato now, finals, no time at all.

Btw, i believe bittorrent is not the only thing he's using to dl porns and stuffs.

Does your method work by throttling ANY packets coming from my friend's pc from his ip in specific? (more like i'm going to down prioritize every single thing coming from his pc)

Yes..add all element like voip, gaming,http,ftp and etc....I mean ALL...since U want to teach him a lesson..

In TOMATO, you can use QOS to limit his maximum download speed for his connection. Works really well.

mikelanding, your method is too extreme haha. My objective is simple, it's to prioritize my friend's packet to the lowest priority. So every other pc's packets gets to be processed first instead of his. Erm, it's not throttling but prioritizing.

My WHR-G54S running on tomato seems to have problems... It can't connect to the internet and when it does , it dc after a while... And tomato is nice and fast...

freq dc might mean your phone line got noise. Listen to your phone see can hear any noise or not. if not, then maybe U can try clear the nvram, is under Administration --->Restore Default Configuration--> choose Erase all data in NVRAM
Before do that, U better record down all yr setting coz it will wipe out all ... My cousin also facing same problem, after I told him to do so....no complaint so far..hope it help..

I don't think its line problem... Its running fine with DD-WRT but when flashed to tomato cannot connect... Press and hold the reset button on the router also erase all data in NVRAM rite?... This is my modem status...

when you swap frimwares your NVRAM is saved. So its better to clear it as it causes conflict

your line is damn damn good!

I wanted to try the V24 rc5 because i want to try the bandwidth monitor, is it worth the change or should i wait till v24 final is out ?

Btw im using v23 sp2.
