Doggystyle: Do u use wireless? if yes and i got 300bucks then i will buy whr-g54s around rm150 and another rm150 buy a stronger antenna(whr-g54s antenna is changeable) , the signal of ori antenna come with it is strong too , anyway u can increase th signal Xmit in dd-wrt after u flash it aslo , so for home user , no need buy extra powerful antenna. Many ppl compare buffalo with linksys , some ppl say linksys is poor than buffalo and some say linksys is better. So depend u lo. But i tell u , my whr g54s nv disappoint me

QUOTE(Doggystyle @ Dec 2 2007, 11:02 PM) MX510: Thanks. Read around and found out the L stands for Linux. The G stop supporting 3rd party firmware after v4. Is this Buffalo WHR-HP-G54S a superior product? Edit: Any link for this Buffalo brand product? (google doesnt seem to get anything) http://www.buffalotech.com/

Chiafoo: Yes, I do plan to move my download rig (native ubuntu!) out of my room, therefore the wireless. Doubt I need the extra signal strenght though. Do you know what is the spec of WHR-G54s in term of cpu/ram/flash size?

Doggystyle: the cpu is 200mhz 16mb flash 4mb memory , mean it can flash into any generic file of dd-wrt , the dd-wrt version with support by this router can found in pages 107 which i explained in early. After u flash to dd-wrt u can increase the cpu speed aslo to 210mhz or so on . My router at hall and my laptop connect wirelessly from my room at up floor with no problem , full str . So i think no need to change antenna for ur case aslo. I aslo use it to dl torrent with thunder ( with cant block with streamyx ) and hit 180kb/s without the router goin to hang and cannot browse

kitsuna: Thanks for the tips. Ok, got The WHR-G54S from Thundermatch for 145. Sweet. Now, the label on the box is Wireless G-125, what does that mean? On dd-wrt wiki page, it says there is a separate firmware for G125. WikiThis is the FirmwareSo, do I use the one for G125, or do I stick with standard Broadcom? Thats meaning WiFi-G 125Mbps Try to look on the side of the box, and find the "Bar Code" which will tell you the model to confirm. Olso look under the router, they also put the model number near the serial number This post has been edited by kitsuna: Dec 8 2007, 09:23 PM

Just bought another 2 WHR-G54s routers for my wireless network. Pretty damn cheap nowadays, only RM138 from thundermatch! Here the preview for what i'm going to do this week. P/S : for buffalo whr-g54s please flash with dd-wrt_generic firmware!! Added on December 10, 2007, 12:24 amSorry if my picture is misleading. You will never want to open the casing on the first day you buy your router right? This post has been edited by azmihamzah: Dec 10 2007, 12:24 AM Attached thumbnail(s)

Kitsuna: Hi, please ignore my earlier comment. Got it all fixed now.
Yup, Buffalo WHR G54 is one powerful device(not to mention much cheaper than a equivalent linksys). Recommended for anyone whos experiencing lag while torrenting (among other features). Even without the QoS activated, its still significantly faster than my prolink 9200. With QoS enabled, its asskicking.
