1 of the bigger problems with google services that were meant to compete with ios, are not available in our country. so google may boast this n that, we aint getting it on our device. the whole playstore got so many features, but we only get to enjoy apps.

dont talk abt vpn, pointless. at the end of the day, all you get is "not available in your country".

and since they dont provide these services, we automatically get a much higher priced nexus 7. i still cant use my $25. android is good, jellybean is good. but google services still sucks balls

Hi guys, I finally got the Nexus 7.

Just a quick question. My unit has the screen lift issue, it's not really bad and I think I can live with it (it cost only RM999 anyway). I can't be arsed to do the "epoxy fix" so I'll just let it be.

I do want to know though, will it get worse over time? Is it smart for me to just let it be, when/if it gets worse, I'll bring it to Asus and get them to do something about it.

Cheers!

it ok if the screen lift is minor.
the other thing can do is,keep the tablet if the screen lift is minor.
as the 1year warranty is almost finish, go to sc and ask them to replace the screen.

I reckon the ipad mini will be priced at 1100 myr which at least higher than newly announced
ipod touch 5th gen... so n7 would be still cheaper  smile.gif  and also 32gb is coming soon with the same price tag (249)

Chances are that the mini will be priced from RM999 if we use the conversion rate for iPad 2 and 3 sold in Malaysia. Apparently there is tax on the iPod and this explains why iPods sold in Malaysia are higher than elsewhere.

Rumors is that the price of 16 GB N7 will be at 8GB price and 32 GB at 16 GB price..

So if they want to compare it will be 32GB N7 at $250 (Malaysia maybe RM999) and Ipad mini 16GB at $329( Malaysia maybe at RM 1010).

Beside the size of ipad mini is 7.9" tongue.gif

But it all the depends on the services you want to use. Like me, I rely heavily on my gmail and gdrive to do my work.
So N7 is my choice. smile.gif

what about their new ipod touch? that's rm1050 nia no need to sell ady everyone buy ipad mini

Added on October 24, 2012, 11:28 amspeaking of 32GB will be selling at 16GB's current price, and us who already bought the 16GB @ 900++ b****in how asus trying to rip us off, i think that's not as bad as those who just bought ipad 3 biggrin.gif

twice the performance, twice the graphics capability, for same price with ipad3, and just announced in less than a year.

thinking of ipad3 owners make me feel less bad if they really announce the 32GB N7 selling @ 999.

I think the iPod Touch and the iPad Mini will have different markets to cater for. The Touch is much more portable comparatively and has Retina Display. But if you think in terms of value for money in that you are getting a bigger display (but no Retina) for almost the same price or slightly more expensive, then it's a different story. All depends. Like my niece (teenager), I don't think she would want to lug around a 7.9 inch tablet when she is out with friends or shopping. Or if you are the type who likes to strap on something small for music while jogging or exercising at the gym... how to strap on a Mini! Of course, ideally, I am sure people wouldn't mind having BOTH the Touch and the Mini! LOL!

But yeah, current iPad 3 owners really must be feeling "tulan" right now. Their only comfort would be at least all of the docking accessories out there still works with their iPad 3 without any bulky adapter!

+1 Luckily I sold my iPad 3 before the announcement, and jump shipped to N7 rclxms.gif

But I also feel abit "tulan" in N7 case, coz when I ordered my N7 previously, rumors pop out that N7 will have 32GB at the same price as 16GB vmad.gif And it seems to be real now cry.gif

Damn right I feel tulan. Only bought the iPad for 2weeks and this announcement came up. To think that the 'new' iPad only arrived in malaysia in May. %#@! Apple.

I digress. I'm here to check on what custom ROMs you guys are having. I flashed Glazed as my first, satisfied but itchy hands to try new ROMs. Experimenting on KAOS now. Opinions anyone?

To put it simply, to root is actually a 2 step process. First you have to unlock the bootloader (you can do this through the Toolkit also). Without an unlocked bootloader, it is not possible to root the N7. The unlocking of the bootloader is what is gonna wipe out all your user data.

I read over at XDA that there used to be a method for you to root without unlocking the bootloader. But it is a complicated process, as far as I am concerned. In any event, this method apparently no longer works for Android Jellybean 4.1.2 Build JZO54K onwards.

Rooting using a Toolkit is so much easier. But it will unlock your bootloader as a necessary initial step, and that is gonna wipe your user data. BUT, please make sure the Toolkit you are using supports your current Android firmware build. Otherwise, you will run into all sorts of confusing obstacles and you may end up with a Nexus 7 paperweight, if you are not careful.

I think it's impossible either. If they must do like this... Then those who buy a phone at launch, take S3 as example. Launch price 2.2k 3 months later can get at 1.7k. I don't think Samsung will refund RM500 to those who bought at launch right?  whistling.gif
Take the price reduction as depreciation then ok la. 4 months ~150MYR tongue.gif
*I said so because I didn't own Nexus 7 laugh.gif*

4 months 150 myr. me 1 month 150myr rclxub.gif

wow, i just know that i can edit my favourited locations on google map.
now i can rename them to things that make sense to me instead of their street name/address.

it sucks right when you use google now and say "navigate to XXX"
and you get navigation not support in malaysia.

screw that, folo instructions here to get navigation in malaysia.
http://www.iapktop.com/google-maps-6-12-0-...-activated.html

just download "maps6.12.0-mod-signed.apk" from link above,
rename the file name to “Maps.apk” and then use ROOT explorer app put in system/app permission is rw-r-r.

tada, free gps with voice navigation.
more useful on phone though since this tablet no 3g.
