Let's not beat around the bush. The Galaxy Nexus is definitely the best Android phone available today -- it's possibly even the best phone available today, period. Sure, it's not perfect -- we're disappointed that the camera doesn't deliver the same wow factor as the rest of the handset. It's an alright shooter, but it's just no match for the state-of-the-art. There's also room for improvement in terms of build and materials quality. Still, there's no denying the satisfying look and feel, the stunning display, the impressive performance, the excellent battery life -- the whole is far greater than the sum of its parts. If you're contemplating on buying AP set, jpaq has some advice for you to consider.

Do switch the phone on and inspect with your naked eye for any abnormality in the display. Also see whether the display responds ok with your touches. Then slip in your SIM card and make a few calls. Check for any abnormality in the sound coming out from the earpiece. I have had an earpiece problem before. Not common, but it happened to me. Then ask whomever you are calling whether you sound clear to them or not. Then ask that person to call you back to check again.
After all that, when you get home, do play the heck out of your phone. Go google for apps which let your check for any defects in the display, like dead pixels, etc. Plug in a set of earphones (your fav or the in-box ones) and test. Play some songs through the earphones as well as through the speaker. Listen for any crackling sounds or other abnormality. Make calls, send SMSes, emails, etc. Plug it into your computer to see whether everything is working as it should be. Use the phone fully and even stress the phone if you can (but I don't mean physically!!!).
If everything works out ok, great! If not, go back immediately to the seller. Be firm (but not rude) with the seller when conveying to him your problem(s). If he had promised a one-to-one exchange earlier and you are within the time given, insist on that. I have to add that many sellers would rather not have to do a one-to-one exchange if they can help it. It means that they would have one less phone to sell. But insist on it if he has given you his word. And if he tells you that there is currently no stock to exchange for you at the moment, insist that a new unit should be given to you no longer than in 2 weeks time. Otherwise, ask for your hard earned money back and get the phone from somewhere else.
Honestly, I have not dealt with this directd ever before. From the forums, some say he is ok but could be perceived as a little stuck up. Ignore all this when your are dealing with him. Just be professional and expect professionalism from him as well. Keep it strictly business.

And the best part? All of this happens automatically. Cards appear throughout the day at the moment you need them.
However it seems a fair few people are having issues configuring Google Now to give them the smooth female voice, images in the search content and the ability to send texts, set alarms etc.

Please, read that again. And again.
The limiting factor in your camera phone is the physical size of the sensor and the lens. You aren't going to resolve much good detail past 5 megapixels, AND you will start contributing heavily to noise by shrinking the photosites.
The new iPhone 4S camera is great, but it is not great because it is 8 megapixels. It is great because it's a high quality sensor and a nice lens. It is great in spite of it being 8 megapixels.
I have printed poster-size with a Nikon D2h. That was a 4 megapixels camera. Those were 4 very high quality megapixels with the right glass on the camera. Having more, lower quality pixels is not the right way to approach cameras. From binary vision at Android Forums

Also, if you didn't notice already, games that are actually fun don't rely on polygon counts to sell the game, ie. cut the rope, plant vs zombie, coin drop, etc etc. If the iPhone 4 with SGX535, a lower end GPU than Nexus S, can have great game titles, I don't see how the G Nexus can't.
Food for thought, if the G Nexus can already play 95% of the games in the market (the other 5% being Tegra3 exclusives ), what significance does it make that the GPU scored lower in benchmarks?

Yes, ICS supports USB Host Mode. The Galaxy Nexus definitely supports it with its hardware, too, because it was announced that it would support USB game controllers. How it will treat attached flash storage is not known yet but it is almost certain that the functionality will be there. Paul, the founder of Modaco has published a modification of the kernel that provides compatibility USB Host
Install StickMount to enable USB stick mount / dismount. The app require root access.
Facebook?

Facebook won't sync with Nexus Devices because Google and Facebook had a little spat back when 2.3 was released. Whereby Facebook refused to use the standard contact sync API and instead used the one that Google had initially concocted from scratch for them. Then, when Google deprecated that API, Facebook didn’t feel like changing their code, so no more sync.
So 3rd party have developed and an app to enable Facebook sync, try HaxSync. Alternatively, you can flash ROMs that has Facebook sync built-in / fixed, if you have root access.

Google+ application settings on an Android phone will automatically upload new photos and videos to a Google+ album. There's no need to panic, though, as the photos and the album itself will remain private until you sign into Google+ and specify which images you want to share with select circles
To disable automatic upload from the Google+ Android app, select "Settings" within the "Menu" screen and uncheck "Instant Upload." Now you have control of which mobile photos make it to your private Google+ album.
The Instant Upload settings allows for further customization, including uploading all existing photos on your phone, uploading only when connected to a WiFi network (good for those with capped data plans), and uploading only when the phone is charging.
If you've ever had or used Picasa, there is a chance you've got an album there that Google is picking up and syncing.
Click on the "My Photos" tab, click on the offending album, click on the "actions" tab, and choose "delete album".
To delete the synced photos from Gallery
Go to Settings > Apps > All > Google +
Then press the "Clear data" button.
Now when you go back to the gallery the instant upload and any photos linked in Picasa will be gone.
You should also disable the syncing before doing this if you don't want them to come back again.

When you launch an Android app, the task is active/running. You use the app, play with the app, etc.
When you exit back to the home screen (or go to a different app), the app is stopped. This means that the app is frozen and will not run/take up battery/etc. It also means the Android OS can freely kill that task if the Android OS needs more memory for other things (i.e. you opened up a really heavy game, you haven't gone back to that app in a while, etc).
So how does multitasking work? How does your app check for email in the background? This is done by something called services. Services run in the background, you don't really see it anywhere on your screen. Even when you quit your app, it still has a service running in the background. It checks your mail even if you're not in the app, it checks for new messages when you're not in the app. If you're busy downloading something using your browser, and you go to a different app, your download still continues, because the browser is running it's own download service in the background.
An example to this would be WhatsApp. If you don't open the app, how does it check for new messages for you? It runs the WhatsApp background service to check for messages for you. You don't have to open the app to keep checking for new messages, it already runs by itself in the background. The Android OS takes care of what services to run, kill, etc automatically for you. That's why if you use a manual task killer (you shouldn't, btw), after a few minutes you'll notice the WhatsApp service running again.
This, of course, does not apply to ALL apps. It depends on whether the app developer has made such a feature available or not. Let's take Draw Something as another example. It doesn't have a background service, therefore it doesn't notify you if you have new drawings to guess.
tl;dr, to answer your question, you don't have to open viber/yahoo/gmail/gtalk to get notifications. The notification part of these apps are running in the background and are checking for new messages for you.
Also, regarding the ICS tasks button, all the tasks listed there are "frozen" apps... the apps themselves aren't running and aren't taking any CPU resources.

To set wallpaper, long press at the homescreen - Wallpaper - Gallery to choose the image that you want. Alternatively, go to the Gallery app - select the image you want - Set picture as - Wallpaper
The ideal image resolution for Galaxy Nexus wallpaper is 1440X1280. You can use whatever image that you want, and crop / edit the image down to that resolution. When applying wallpaper, just select the whole image, it will appear as intended, and look crisp and clear.

Face Unlock is not the default lock (for obvious reason), to set it up go to Settings - Security - Screen Lock - Face Unlock. You can also choose other type of locks from here. Make sure to improve Face Unlock by using the "Improve face matching" option (Settings -> Security ->) after setting it up.

Don't worry, it is perfectly normal if you feel that your phone is heating up around the camera area, especially when you are using your phone, even if its just minor activities. (you don't know what's going on in the background).
After all, its a 1.2Ghz dual core CPU running underneath, the heat has to dissipates somehow. Just make sure that its not something crazy like above 55C, anything below 50 should be fine. It is advisable to avoid using the phone when charging.
You can install battery monitoring app to monitor the temperature if you are worried about it.

If you are having problem in applying wet SP, which is a must if you're looking for something that covers full front of the phone, here are some tips written by droid13579
Before you begin, cut your fingernails and wash your hands. This is to prevent nail damage to the skin and minimum the risk of bringing lint, dust and dirt.
Location to skin application: There are few locations are suitable for application: Steamy Bathroom (is a PLUS since steam is capable to trap dust) Bathroom Kitchen Bedroom Study Room/Guest Room
As long you switch off any air ventilation like fan, air conditioner. Lock your door and windows, your fine to proceed. Clean your area, to minimum the risk of bringing lint and dust.
After cleaning your area, prepare your own solution (if they don't provide you) try look for a shallow dish plate or spray bottle. Put 2 or 3 drops of mild soap and mix it with water, and you now have your own solution.
For mild soap, I suggest using baby shampoo like Johnson baby shampoo or any dish wash liquid.
Once your have your own solution, prepare your own version of squegee card if they don't provide you. Any credit card would be fine but make sure they have straight edges to prevent damage your skin during squegee.
Now you have those two main stuffs, time to bring out your paper towel or microfibre cloth. Personally, I prefer paper towel because it is easily available than microfibre cloth, or anti fog cloth is good to go.
Once you have those stuffs, bring out your skin and read their instructions. Some might give tips for application process.
Time for application, first wash your hands once again and clean them with your paper towel.
Before application, clean your device with your microfibre, anti-fog or paper towel to remove smudges and dust on your screen. TURN OFF YOUR DEVICE, REMOVE YOUR BATTERY, ENGAGE THE ON SWITCH!
For Spray Bottle method: Spray your non-adhesive skin for two pumps, then wet your fingers with your spray. Peel your Skin, immediately and give like 3 ~ 4 pumps on adhesive side.
Now place on your device screen, and align it with your fingers. Your skin should move freely for this time. After you have set your alignment, leave your device like 1~2 minutes.
After 1~2 minutes, prepare your credit card or squegee card. Start push your access liquid and air bubbles from middle to the left or middle to the right while try not to move your skin, DO NOT squegee the skin to hard or it will leave marks, or causing miss align.
Keep squeegee for like 5~8 minutes to remove all bubbles and use your paper towel/microfibre cloth to trap any water/liquid to prevent get into the device. After that, clean and damp the screen with paper towel/micro fibre cloth.
Now your skin should be like clean and zero bubbles, if they do have don't peel or being paranoiac. Look for a windy place and place your device there for 12/24 hours. Those streaks, micro-bubbles will dissipated during these period.
AND NOW YOUR SKIN SHOULD BE LOOK CLEAN AND BRAND NEW!
Shallow Plate "Dip" Method for Wet Screen Protector Application
When I said Shallow Plate to Dip your solution is not to immerse your skin to your solution. This might be tricky but if you do it properly it also gives a good look when it is done.
First, Prepare a shallow dish plate fill with water and add 2~3 drops of baby shampoo/ dish wash liquid mix with your finger and you have your own version of solution. Not to forget prepare your anti fog cloth/ micro fibre, paper towel and squeegee card/credit card.
**You may use warm water as an alternative.**
Now, wash your hands and clean your device to remove all those dirt, dust, lint and grease. Not to forget remove the battery, turn off the device.
Begin to dip the non adhesive side, a shallow dip is enough not immerse the skin. If it is too wet, shake vigorously to remove big water particles. Wet your fingertips by dip into your solution and peel it. Give shallow dip for non adhesive side and shake it.
**If you think shake vigorously still look wet for both sides, try wipe on one direction like butter on toast to remove excess water, liquid.**
Immediately, place your skin to your device and leave it for 1~2 minutes. Now your skin should move freely, and try align it in this time. Remember align it with your fingers gently by recognize it front facing cameras, proximal sensors and ambient sensors and front speakers.
After 1~2 minutes, start squeegee with your credit card from middle to left/right then up to down. Don't squeegee too hard or else you will damage the skin. Do this for 5~8 minutes.
**While Squeegee, try damp the excess solution and not to push the solution to cut outs**
After 5~8 minutes, wipe/damp the excess solution with paper towel/mircofibre/anti fog cloth. Your skin should look free bubbles. If you do saw a streaks, micro-bubbles. Don't be paranoiac and peel it, find a windy place at let it dry for 12/24 hours.
NOW YOUR SKIN SHOULD LOOK CLEAR LIKE IT WAS NO SCREEN PROTECTOR, TIME TO FOOL YOUR FRIENDS AND SAID I HAVE GONE NAKED WITH MY SCREEN

If you're lucky AP sets may have Yakju.. But it's very easy to flash using GNex Toolkit following the guide by one of our friend here.

My trinity still serving me well. Today used GPS for about 40mins to 'recognise' the roads around then used data to watch youtube for also around 40mins. Press press play play games. Hit 3hours screen on at 18% left. I did on wifi to update 18 apps (update via 512k streamyx, not 5m unifi) while screen off. So I call that awesome

Do you normally backup your contacts to Google server? If yes, then just login and sync. You'll have them back.

Why I cannot bluetooth file@pics from my nexus to blackberry. Or vice versa. Bug?? Before this no problem at all. Since using aokp latest rom, and now CNA latest rom, cannot send file by bluetooth

+1 ... hope someone fix it asap... because.. i use the 2g/3g toggle very often... 3g for youtube and faster surfing... and 2g for daily drive.
Actually I have already experienced this in 3.6.6. Once you switch a few times between 2G/3G, then totally no internet connection anymore. Need to reboot the phone to solve this
So it seems like this problem is still persist in 3.8. Better stay in 3.6.6 first

u r probably on Google factory stock rom...however, u might have use Gnex toolkit for all in one option which install root and CWM recovery....

I did use Gnex toolkit (with bigxie something that was posted on the first page of galaxy nexus thread back in July or August) to update to 4.1. But when the official came out, i downgrade it to ICS 4.0, and used the OTA update to go to 4.1.1. My intention was to make life easier in the future so that I can just OTA. But right now I am having problem to OTA to 4.1.2. So i just hope there is a way to make everything back to stock standard so that future upgrade with OTA will be no problem. Is there any way?

May I know what can cause a hardbrick? Messing around with voltage and OC? I don't think I will ever go that far. That's a relieve to know that I can restore back for softbrick.

1. Install latest Gnex toolkit v9.0 2. Launch it, choose the version of my Nexus which is option 6, android 4.1.1 (build JR03C) 3. Choose option 6 (Flash recovery (CWM Touch, TWRP Touch or Stock) 4. Choose option 3 (Flash Stock Recovery) 5. Put my phone into Fastboot mode and click continue 6. Once done it will auto reboot to phone 7. I then go to Settings>Apps>All>Google Services Framwork and click clear data 8. Go to settings>about phone>update and click check update 9. It shows update to 4.1.2 available and now I am able to do OTA update to 4.1.2.
Thanks again to Vernon. I hope with this I have go back to stock rom and in the future update I can still do OTA.

there is no nid to unroot or relock bootloader (bootloader has nth to do with OTA at all )
very obvious that u are running something not stock....(CWM recovery or custom kernel or custom rom)

Btw... Facebook is acting weirdly recently. I mean Facebook website. I normally open facebook desktop site on my Nexus (I still love FB desktop site more than those apps). Anyway... Recently, not sure what Fb did to their coding... I can open the desktop site in FULL but can't view more stories or open the chat box Tried stock and chrome both behave the same. Just to share with you all, I felt a little electricity from the pogo pins while charging on USB. My hands were dry.
Erm... Mine use wall charger that comes with the phone won't shock but charge from router (Got one router with USB Port on my desk) will shock me. That's the only time I get shocked. From laptop usb no such problem. But now I put a paper at pogo pin to prevent that 'shock' again. My casing don't cover the pogo pins.

Just to share in case anyone ran into a similar problem like mine :
I mentioned a problem a few days back about Lean Kernel 4.4.0 + CNA 3.5.0 unable to connect to 3G. I found out the reason : I was using an unsuitable baseband, XXLFA1. Just to share in case anyone ran into a similar problem like mine :
I mentioned a problem a few days back about Lean Kernel 4.4.0 + CNA 3.5.0 unable to connect to 3G. I found out the reason : I was using an unsuitable baseband, XXLFA1. After flashing to XXLF1 (and also CNA 3.8.0), no such problem. Funny thing is that XXLFA1 works with Lean Kernel 4.3.0 (average connection quality), but cant work with Lean 4.4.0.
wonders why bother other basebands.. im using xxkk6 the best for my wifi and my aust network. it even beats the offical JB xxlf1 baseband.
when i toggle 3g data, my bars will all max out nomatter house shop, bar, car, and so
Erm... Mine use wall charger that comes with the phone won't shock but charge from router (Got one router with USB Port on my desk) will shock me. That's the only time I get shocked. From laptop usb no such problem. But now I put a paper at pogo pin to prevent that 'shock' again. My casing don't cover the pogo pins.

the one I'm using need to charge around 8-10 hours for full charge. normally i can use to charge both my nexus n 7 plus few times lor…
haha… nolah… not that i charge it everyday… probably once every 2 weeks. i still prefer to use charger over power banks. I only keep the PB in my bag just in case i need quick charging… i got charger in my office, my car, my study room, my bedroom!!

and YES, the 1st option from the Toolkit, will ROOT, PUSH CWM and unlock ur Phone.

so your batt is performing to your satisfaction. my opinion is to buy a batt that nicely suit the timing of your usage. by the time you stop using it, it the time when the batt is low and need charging, ie is before you sleep. too big a battery will not be suitable because when its low batt....it may be midday where you need the phone the most.
my nexus is new i have batt issue. but i will wait until i used for a year or less before i upgrade. i use a spare charger at the office.

Paul O Brien is a well reputed ROM developer and founder of Modaco. I'm not sure whether he work alone or in a group like CM or AOKP.
The Titanium Backup Modaco Plus version and some other apps is for Modaco plus member who is willing to fork out GBP29.90 annually. I'm not sure how he managed to extract it out unless he have the "Plus" ROM version.
Titanium is not included in the free version so called pre-baked version.

Hahaha...LG...all the way "flat". Still 8 MP camera, no SAMOLED. Dislike 1280 x 768 too...1280 x 720 is perfect resolution. Else wait for the fifth generation nexus with 1920 x 1080 resolution (hopefully).

depends on your budget, if you have 2k+- go for next Nexus, otherwise get this.

Using MIUIAndroid 2.10.19. Opening folder seems better now. Scrolling within folder still slightly laggy. Everything else perfect.
Happiness is you could spend time with closest one.

Looks like no microSD slot in the next Nexus phone. Most probably 4.2 will still retain the name of JellyBean.

Got my phone back from service center, updated to 4.1.2, then rooted it. Somehow Titanium Backup doesn't give me the option to restore missing apps with data after that, even with the backups in the phone. Any solutions?

Yeah but waste ur time reapplying them. Got my flex since my baby 1st came, jeans mark,fingernail mark, swipe mark etc all will fade and revert back to normal. No side peeling no yellowing no gaps No waste time reapply, less chance of damaging the original screen. Bad thing is the resistance and lowered sensitivity. I hate w8ing delivery..

just wanted to ask...did you all experience high power consIn ption on the screen?. my battery usage always show the screen use 50 to 60% of power are consume by the the screen. now i put 1 3900mha mAH battery. but it onhalf day.if original battery even worse. it can only last for half day . i wonder is it all nexus are having the same situation .i already adjust the screen to the lowest brightness. but problem still persist.

Yeah, need to prepare Scotch tape too, in case any dust gets under the SP, then have to use tape to stick them out. Guys, i m running ICS 4.0.4 yakjuzs n received ota. After downloading n restart, half way through the process, the got a red exclamation mark n the phone restarted itself. Seems nothing change. Wonder what's the problem?

unless you are using lg phone , their display are very power saving , or else it is the same for all android devices/ apple device imo.

My friend using Huawei Accend P1 also have a great battery saving, although battery capacity is smaller. He got 2 days standby and 4hour+ on screen time.

ascend P1 is a great device if you are not into flashing custom rom,
packs the same spec as galaxy nexus with a better camera i believe.
dont forget gnexus is using 4.65 super amoled screen

Citing a review from GSMArena, The GSM Galaxy Nexus (1750mAh battery) does about 3 hours only on their web browsing test.
I'm sure most owners who actually done their research before buying a phone knows the pros and cons of the device.

How long is your on screen time? Press at "screen"...For stock battery, it should give around 3 hours screen on time. Note and S3 is newer in terms of chipset architecture. It's also possible that the amoled in nexus is more power consuming. It's the first generation super amoled hd. What's your normal usage on your phone? What you usually use your phone for?

Dear all, i think i asked a wrong question previosly regarding deodex ROM. Actually I want to ask about zipalign:
On theory, zip-aligned ROM are faster.
1. Did you guys really feel the difference between a zip-aligned ROM and a non zip-aligned ROM? If yes, can you show me a situation where I can really feel the difference?
2. My understanding is that the galaxy Nexus stock ROM downloaded from Google are not zip-aligned. I though it should be zip-aligned as it should be optimised and it's from Google?
Hi guys, previosly i told u all that i cant update 4.1.2 OTA right?? it move half bar then stuck at the "!" mark with a lying android. So today i boot in fast boot and choose recovery mode. It stuck at the "1" mark with a lying android and the background all black.. then after a while, it boot up the phone. I'm on all stock. Never tried custom rom before. Just last time change to yakju using the toolkit step by step. Can someone help me here?? What happened to the phone? THx!

Update failure and caused system instability or semi-bricked/softbricked. This is pretty common and normal.
Solution? Go to Samsung Center(if you're using ORIGINAL and tell them after updating your phone to 4.1.2 via OTA and this happen).

Like someone mentioned earlier, the phone has to be completely stock (kernel, ROM, recovery) for OTA to work. Shouldn't matter if it;s rooted or not, just that you may lose root after the OTA I encountered the same problem with you as well, thinking I was completely stock. But then I recalled messing around with some system/apps files while installing ownhere Google Maps sometime ago. I realised that when I downloaded the OTA zip file, flashed CWM and then tried to flash the OTA zip file. It gave me an error message saying something is not stock in system/apps. Tried like heck to find the stock apps apks online, but failed. So finally decided to reflash everything back to stock JRO03C. That finally did the trick. But do backup your apps and data 1st coz everything;s back to factory.
Having gone thru all that crap finally realised wtf I update for??? No difference pun................

i changed to 4s from galaxy nexus and the battery on 4s is not better, 4s can last longer while u using it, but not in standby with data and push data on.

I can't achieve what u get le. On screen time now 1hour 28 mins, battery level already 47%. But heavy voice call, voice call 1hour+. Wifi on all the time. Idle time 18 hours.

I hardly hit 4 hours now. Intern most of the time free like siao. Always on edge, only change to 3G when i need to surf at speed. No push mail but other services all on (except Line... such a battery drainer). Most of the time spent on opening Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp and Gaming 3~3.5 hours max Off screeen 300/350 On screen 300/350~1036 Trinity

I got 3 APN setting. it happen like this:

i dun play games anymore.. work stuff so quite durable in batt life.
@nickcct- i terminate alot of stuff and only left all the used ones

I means the data icon change color to grey (no data connection) after i turn off wifi and i want to use 3g. I can get back the data connection (with blue color) only by changing the apn to another one.
The first apn can't be used anymore because when i change to it, the icon will change to grey again.
(This only happen after i use wifi and turn it off to use 3g again)

I suka suka flash ROM at work. Case like yesterday... Flash then can't unlock, need reflash older version. Then a bit worried... Did nandroid backup at work *Hope no my colleague here* Anyway, it's just 3 months training. I tried hard to find work to do... They just don't have more for me to do

well that is my same usage between these differences phone, even when i using hox, i am using stock android email app, not the htc mail. i cant get 4 hours on screen time, unless turn on screen and let it idle.

umm, try opening battery stats monitoring apps, and ur defult battery monitoring services from there try to remb what u use and what u dont. freeze those that u dont.
however some stuff like the internal frameworks might not show. so u agar agar freeze them. stuff like adobe air if not used frequently, just freeze it livewallpapers? stock alternative calander? defult clock if u are on aokp (there's 2 clock version for aokp) shared storage backup, holospiral, backup confirm currents if u use alternative stuff download manager and downloads if u don't download stuff email 4.1 and exchange service (i don't use them cuz i load everything through gmail, mention be4) backup transport, bookmarks sync,one time init, partner ser, play books/mag/movie google search and services framework is left on for me (those are for google now) text to speech engin (i terminate as i don't speak to my phone, the unicorn understands me) key chain is crediantial manager and i would not off it if u still sign in stuff (if not just freeze it, it hogs battery) launcher 4.1.1 stock/trebucket lightflow(i still use it ) market feedback maps(i unfreeze when i need em, im a mapper so i remb maps auto in my brain) messenger? I am not Liable if i crash ur phone! i did many tests on my phone, so far quite stable with over 100 stuff frozen in jail froze all once accidentally, it was not fun

i did tuning in frameworks and kernal and system and colour management so i get better results. Smart reflex left on now for tests of efficiency.

not sure, duno whats the conversion for omap 4 to gamma adjust like but the gamma adjust is available in aokp rom control, trickster franco and others like to name differently.

Franco is OMAP 4 Gamma, if not mistaken is the same thing. But me always leave it default for gamma adjust.
Try to find an android phone with exact amount of RAM as stated in their spec. 512MB, 768MB, 1024MB etc. If you find it, show me and I might treat you a meal. The disappeared RAM is reserved for the system. Those you can see (695) is for you to use, not the system. Get it? Whatever

It's better for you not to look at the RAM. Also not to use any task killer. It'll just make things worse. I never care about the RAM since it ain't bringing any problem to me. For 512MB or lower RAM models... yes, the RAM usage is important and I keep on monitoring the RAM usage. But ever since I switched to nexus... morning to all taikor, Question: my wife's gnex, yakju 4.1.1 rooted received 4.1.2 OTA reminder. After OTA download completed it went into the download mode and update the firmware, after that it jam there and cannot reboot. i have to press the power button to restart and when i check the firmware build, it still remain as 4.1.1 (failed... ) how to solve this? i need to unroot or can i temp unroot using Voodoo OTA RootKeeper??

u used toolkit? if so u cannot OTA, cuz i bet ca use 1 step all, aka 1 step push CWM, root and unlock
CWM is custom recovery, thats y u cannot OTA and fail.
Root or unroot will not affect OTA, after OTA u will be unrooted.
Unlock/lock will not affect OTA, it just means u can mod stuff (unlock) or not (lock).
so, i need to run the toolkit again and flash d 4.1.2 rite?

4 possibility - SR on (very unlikely) - golden chip set not in your phone, cannot take the clock speed - need more power (volt set too low, impossible if SR is on) - the Trinity kernal you flashed is not stable on higher clock, flash another 1
u can turn off SR by entering in terminal emulator

not really extreme mod. some easy customization as below: I'm using these..... 1. apex launcher 2. CNA custom rom 3. MetroStation icon pack 4. Lustre icon pack 5. Organizer Drawer.
steps: 1. extract MetroStation apk and change the NavBar icon 2. online search 'X' nexus icon and invisible icon. 3. edit wallpaper with left and right menu background. 4. apex launcher apply Lustre icon pack, hide label. 9x6 grid. 5. Groups shortcut added from Organizer Drawer with MetroStation icons.

Not knowing what they are doing, they continue and just flash root etc..
in the end they wan do something and duno what they did previously
then when we diagnose, they said they didn't..
then they would be categorise as their hardware problem and deemed special case..

but in reality, that option install root, busybox and also CWM recovery...later when the time for OTA, say fail this fail that
ask them got install CWM recovery or not, they say they only did root nth else

i remb unlocking a HTC device, not flagship some more.. like search till wan die.. stoped at cm7 no support for 9/10 totally agree with unlocking, makes no sense (for uslah, but google still needs to protect end users from data theft)
actually the guide is mostly used for -getting from yakjuxx to yakju (valid excuse) -unlocking (valid excuse) -just rooting (not valid sometimes, just hear root and mistaken better... root but no configure how better ) -just flashing CWM (valid excuse)
there is a confusion for root and roms which is very very badly mistaken they think itz a 1 shot custom rom +root = heaven and no problem guarantee..
and those after went custom rom, or rooted not knowing CWM is on board, still wants OTA

most probably it is sending through samsung propirity NFC sender which the app is avaliable in samsung store only

i still remember back then rooting htc desire. took me hours . then some how i forgot to back up contacts and msgs. all gone. but that is thrill i get. learning new things. mess up my phone. boot loop cuz corrupted file ( i download the rom using utim line which only can reach up to 60kBps )
my experience rooting motorola is the hardest and the easiest was lg... exclude nexus cuz it is developer phone. made to be unlock.
The DC never happened since. Might want to give it a try.
i bought the 2nd one because it looks more like the original usb cable, hmmm let me check again what's going on. please don't tell me my microusb port is damaged ><
