That's a lot of choices...but are they all overseas companies? I dare not set my sights too high, was hoping to get placement somewhere in Malaysia but I don't really know the proper way.
So far I have explored some companies website such as Exxonmobil and Cameron and found that all of them have online systems where you submit in a resume. I'm still a student, haven't had working experience yet so I don't know what to include in my resume. Anybody been down this road before and can share or point me in the right direction?
hey ya, tell u something, confident is a very important point.... every company look forward to have employees with high confidence. u should believe that u have the qua;ification to get into any of the companies regardless whether its oversea or a local company. try out all the companies, be confident and show ur willingness to learn. Yes, u're still a student, but that doesnt means that u'll not going to be 'somebody' sometime in the future. u know what, i've been in Shell fpor internship last year... when i check back with my seniors, i heard that none of them have ever go for internship in Shell. i asked y? they said, 'errrmmm... tat is a big company, i dun think they will accept us'.... my God..... they din even try..... when i went to Shell, the employees there told me that they have been waiting for interns to come for years, but there's not much student that had applied for any intership program wt shell.... so, could u see the point? dun say no be4 u even try... it will only be a waste of chance. Maybe you're able to get in any of the international companies, but u urself who jeopardise the chance... relax, and be enthusiastic if u wan something better fpr urself. cheers and good luck!

shell SRD - anyone has any idea what to expect?
my friend went for shell srd before. she said that the most important thing that they are looking for is your ability of looking for long-term solution in every question given by them. also, they wan to know whether ur management skill is good or not, that it, whether or not u could differentiate or determine the real important point in any of the situation given.

u'll be questioned a lot, but just be relax... otherwise, u'll really feel stress bout it... be ypurself and dun try to be smart... give the answer after u think bout it properly, coz they will always see whether there's any contradiction in the answer given by u. they're really pro in determine whether u're telling the truth or not...

HR = Human Resources.
I'm from UTP, undergo my internship now.
I have met a lot seniors who holding the scholarship.
At first when I joined in UTP and I din get the scholarship, well I was a bit "unhappy" or disappointing but I don't find it that way anymore now.
A lot oil n gas companies nowadays do not take Petronas scholars as their interns, nor permanent staff.
Simply because most of them will be called by Petronas and work where ever Petronas "throw" them at, other companies will not want to train a student on behalf of petronas, right?
I have seniors, high scorers in E&E, now working as trader/procurement personnel in Petronas subsidiary, some in marketing, some in HR.
Those lucky one get into oil n gas sector but how many are lucky? Small amount only.
Let say you stayed in HR for 10 years to serve the bond, do you think you can switch back to engineering line by then?
If not mistaken, UTP has risen the tuition fee which mean now 1 year scholarship = 3 years bond.
Fellow UTPians, correct me if I'm wrong.
There's always option to break the bond, pay one lump sum.
I have seniors did that, who get offer from SLB/Baker Hughes.
I rather consider paying back PTPTN by installment than one lump sum to Petronas
If you holding JPA/MARA scholarship in UTP, then u are safe.
IMO, its always good to take up the scholarship if you have no intention to join oil n gas, if you have intention for it. Think again.
In the company I'm at now, a lot senior engineers told me not to join Petronas in the future, go to other companies. They were from Petronas previously.
If u a non-petronas scholar in UTP, you stand a very high chance to join oil n gas sector.
Check this URL, how many oil n gas companies came to UTP few weeks ago for career fair.
http://www.utp.edu.my/news/TEC2008.phpI'm 'working' in office now, crapster used to do so. You can consult him about the "office" atmosphere as most of them here are offshore people.
Consultant, fabrication, installation, servicing, client, maintenance (integrity management) = Oil n Gas
p/s : Sorry for my messy post.
i agree... dun u think its better to get more experince from other service or oil companies which could offer u wt variety of intense training then sticking wt petronas which is a bit 'relaxing' company?

Also, u rather to be bonded even when there're other companies which could offer u with much higher salary tat enable u to pay back the ptptn in a very short time, perhaps 1-2 years. if u ever go to petronas, dun even think of going to Shell... they are 'enemies'. After u finish ur contract wt petronas, they have the choice of either dumping u, or keeping u, depending on ur performance. By that time, u keep to review ur own capability and what have u learn in petronas before u apply for other company. i dun think there's many companies out there who willing to accept someone who're being dumped, except if u're the one who dump the company. so, think about it properly. i dun say that petronas is not a good company, but i rather said that its a safe option when u've work in other O&G companies for perhaps 10 or 20 years and you're thinking of having a 'calm' life.
