The retailers only earn about RM0.08 per litre, no matter how much government increase the price. The increased of the petrol price (the subsidy) goes back to government, and their cost to open a petrol station is cost ~1 million, plus pay salary to staffs, electricity, water, phone....

Ah Ha! dun think that it is small.. There're a lot of things that you will not able to imagine apart from those u see in the newspaper. Most of the petrol station earn more through the selling of oil, NOT the stuffs in the mini market or whatever. U may think that the revenue is small, but i bet u'll be suprised if u happen to know how much they sell before you think of how much they earn from it. Honestly, the revenue for diesel is smaller than that of primax or super but again, diesel makes the owner earn much more. I could guarantee u that this is a fact but could u think of why? haha... i'm not going to say it, so think about it yourself.. tongue.gif ...

why not? Oil & gas company still pay a lot compare to other companies.. ppl always say ''price increase but salary stay the same''... at least u could lead a better life than those who earn less plus the fast increment in salary for ppl who work in O&G companies....

Even if they earn 8 sen a liter...the sheer volume of their sales will more than cover for that. One of those huge petrol trucks already how many liter in it...and all they need to do is open store and wait for people to come, because everybody needs petrol, haha.

One thing that I dun get is sometimes...along the same stretch of road, there's like, 5 or 6 diff petrol stations...pity the guy who owns the station at the furtherest end...maybe that's why they encourage and perpetuate the myth that you shouldn't mix petrol from diff companies.

im majoring in mechatronics and so far im still a first class student but the problem is i dont have a lot of co curricular activities.

can any of you guys please tell me what is your co-curricular activities?
is it really important. as for talking with people i have no problem with that as i really can speak well with peole it just that the co-curricular portion in my resume is really blank.

BTW i just got rejected by the shell gourami challenge.. and they say i cannot apply for another year... can i still apply next year when they come to my uni?

i would like to design since im interested in robotics.

I am offered for a Material Planner/Procurement position in an O&G service company. May I know what is the future prospect of a material planner/procurement engineer in O&G or any other industry? BTW I am a fresh grad with mechanical engineering degree, not sure if I make a correct decision to take this offer... very confusing right now

Hmmm, well material planner and procurement mainly is to manage between Vendor and Client. Mainly dealing with bidding process, preparing quesionaire to pre-select some of the vendor.
So if you are a fresh grad and if you think u not a very technical person maybe it could suit your needs but after few years you might forget how to design a valve or pipe, your job is mainly preparing documents for vendor to bid and to help client to choose which vendor and the procurement process took quite a lot of details also. Anyway its a challenging job too cos it deal with money hahha..... as for future palnner u can become Contract manager cos you will deal with a lot of contract between client and vendor.

But it just base on my own opinion just as a reference, the choice is still in your hand.

Thanks for your reply, I have decided to accept the offer. Actually I would prefer a position involved more on technical stuff as my first job, but I guessed learning how to deal with people ain't that bad also smile.gif I hope i made a wise decision
