About to book my tickets… is row F be too overwhelming for first timer IMAX goer? 😆

I usually watch MBO BigScreen at the last few screens… at home I’m used to 130” at 9 feet.

Ya I have that problem too with Velocity, but I tend to book seats at the middle and at the back of the hall, so I'm able to avoid the floor lights.

Booked it a day later after it started going on sale. God damn man, I cannot wait to watch this film, it's honestly frustrating cause reviews came out and I'm avoiding them, but overall glances of it online shows it to be critically acclaim. Ahhhh!

Oh wow this is your first time, congrats! You're in for a wild ride. F is quite close to the screen imo, and you may have to lean back quite uncomfortably to fully encapsulate the whole screen image, but it should be fine for your first time since you'll learn to understand your own taste in IMAX halls.

Hi all, would like to ask from your experience:

Usually how long does a blockbuster mega-movie like this remain screened in IMAX cinemas? For example, would something like IMAX Dune Part 2 normally still be available in 2 weeks or 3 weeks time from today?

It depends on the ticket sales and interest from the public. But normally, blockbusters can last for at least a month even for IMAX, even better when there's no other blockbuster competing with it. The IMAX halls have to be used and sold for movies anyway and they won't abandon the halls for no reason.

I don't think there's any upcoming movie that's competing with Dune: Part Two in IMAX, so the IMAX halls should be used for Dune: Part Two only. Even if there's a competitor, they'd normally divide the IMAX timeslots between different movies. Unless both TGV and GSC surprise me again by doing something as stupid as saving all of the IMAX halls for some random movie (I'm looking at you, Madame Web).

So I think you can safely assume that a blockbuster like Dune: Part Two will be available in IMAX for at least 3 weeks or even a month. I expect it to be a hugely popular and widely successful movie.

Hi guys, gonna book ticket for Dune Part 2 soon, wanna ask apart from Sunway Velocity, is there any other IMAX theatres that are as good in Klang Valley?

Next one is 1U... but I wanted the biggest hence Velocity!

Check out post #711 in page 36. It's my extensive guide to IMAX Malaysia. Tldr the best in Klang Valley is Velocity, 1U then Pav BJ as they are IMAX Laser with 12 channel audio. The next best is Central I-City but it's Xenon and 6 channel audio only, however it's still great because that screen is large, largest 1.9:1 screen in Malaysia (3rd largest in general).

Lol sure your wife won't be jealous meh? You experiencing IMAX haha, or you testing first then bring her and maybe your kids there in the future XD?

She won't appreciate it one lah... she can watch Dune 2 at home when its available... (minus the IMAX aspect ratio hahaha!)

The problem is that Malaysian tend to be more simple minded and cant brain the long ass, less action alot of talk type of movie.

Heard someone in the hall commented why talk so much and there is not much action of the almost 3 hour seat time for dune part 1 rerun (same comment goes to oppenheimer too which have MORE talking)

Best is some of them left the hall dont bother wait the Part Two sand worm sneak peak

Very true. It's why our cinemas are always filled with generic action and horror movies, and TGV and GSC understand this very well so that's why they always promote those movies.

Most Malaysians are casual moviegoers that cannot brain movies without action. It's very sad and is one of the main reasons why our film industry cannot thrive. It's gotten a little better recently but it's still pretty stagnant.

Yeah, the same thing happens when I watched the Dune rerun as well. A lot of the people left the hall when the credits rolled even though there was a clear message before the film began to stay back after the movie for a preview for Dune: Part Two. Literally missed out an amazing and breathtaking scene in IMAX, and presumably one of the most significant scenes from the movie. And hey, that's an action scene right there!

But since Dune: Part Two is said to be filled with action compared to Part One, it's why I said we can safely assume that it'll be successful even in Malaysia, especially when there's no direct competitor (except for Kung Fu Panda 4 I guess but that's not in IMAX).

Thanks for the recommendation! I was under the impression that the 1U TGV IMAX is not that good? I remember the audio there being subpar compared to Sunway Velocity, but maybe I'll give them a try again for Dune Part 1 rewatch! In your opinion, which one is better tho: Sunway Velocity IMAX or Cental I-City IMAX? Since I stay in Denai Alam which is closer to both 1U and Central I-City than going to Velocity, wanna weigh my options before committing to the commute further away.

Not Katharsis, but IMO 1U is better than iCity because 1U has laser and 12 channel sound, even though screen is slightly smaller. iCity still using xenon and 6 channel sound

Tol RM2 plus RM10 whole day in mall parking better than 4hrs drive with tol RM40 JB - KL
