Xenon will be able to show the 1.43:1 ratio?
Velocity is single laser... but at least ada 1.9:1 la, and just wanna listen to all the rave about IMAX's big speaker how does it sound.
Only IMAX Laser GT (Grand Theatre, aka dual laser)and OG 70mm IMAX can project a 1.43:1 ratio image, the rest, including Xenon can't. Currently in Malaysia, we do not have these type of tech. We used to have 70MM IMAX at Berjaya Time Square (Source: Thread's OP first post here), but was taken down a decade+ ago due to high maintenance cost. Max we can get right now is 1.9:1 for both single laser and Xenon.
Considering the big surge in IMAX goers ala Avatar 2 and Oppenheimer being major successes in Malaysia according to IMAX Corp, there are ongoing plans to open more IMAX halls in Malaysia:
"Malaysia is a fast-growing market for IMAX, consistently ranking among the top 25 global markets for IMAX box office despite having only 11 IMAX locations currently in operation. The growth has spurred IMAX to move further into local films in Malaysia (https://www.imax.com/content/imax-and-tgv-cinemas-expand-partnership-seven-imax-locations-malaysia)"According to some rumors spread by few posters here, IMAX Laser GT is in the works in Malaysia. Here's hoping it opens in 2024 but honestly, I don't know what other upcoming films will actually be 1.43:1 IMAX as we missed our chance with Oppenheimer and Dune 2. Aside from these two, there are not many films nowadays being made with that tall aspect ratio as most IMAX films go for 1.9:1, so the value of opening a IMAX Laser GT hall is certainly a risk for cinema chains not only in Malaysia, but other countries as well. This is why I'm pretty bumped out by the fact that Velocity didn't get a Laser GT upgrade despite already having a screen capable of it, especially during the period where Oppenheimer's re-run was happening, along with Dune 1 and now Dune 2.

Ok, thanks for that info, I will try to ask whether my kids have any cards or else just try to go through and see if it works. Thanks for informing me about the weekday and time limitation.
I usually watch movies on weekends with my kids so always paid full price but usually at normal halls. This time plan to take leave and go for IMAX to watch Dune Part Two so have to bring my wife and kids too as its school holidays now and then saw there was student pricing.
Teens are considered student, so you get can Student price from TGV at RM20, however, this is during the weekdays only and before 6pm. Most of the time, the staff won't ask for student cards since they judge by appearance, so unless your kids look like grown adults, you shouldn't worry too much xd.
