Reviews of Tron Ares revealing it to be a bust. Ahhh I need my movie fix! This season really dry af ah for films.

Did you watch Tron Ares? I watch Avatar 2 in 3D and surprisingly the 3D effect were really done well. The effect is in very high fidelity. Might considering watching Avatar 3 in 3D but as usual the story is very mid.

always wanted to try Onyx.

do you think animation movies will fare well in this format?
*
Can only speak for Mid-Valley Onyx:
Yes I believe so - because the screen is black and not gray like a conventional hall - better black levels allow better representation of colors - and it's super bright. The only animation I've seen (although CG) in Onyx so far was 'Inside Out 2' in 3D and it was great.
I think for future animated fare in 1.78 ratios I will pick this hall if they are screened here like I should've done for 'Demon Slayer'.

No haha, I usually watch films for their story execution, cinematography, vibes, acting skills and creativity. Tron Ares is mostly visuals which I'm not interested in. Avatar 2 was a let down (watched it in IMAX 3D at Velocity before laser upgrase) but yeah, the visuals were amazing. However, visuals aren't really a good reason for me anymore to be invested in a media.

I might skip Avatar 3 as well if the reviews of the story aren't up to snuff... Idk, this series is maybe the only exception to not skip because James Cameron's films are revolutionary in terms of visual and CG. It's like a tech demo of an gorgeous, wild alien world built from the imagination and it's realized beautifully with tech. But ya, I want to be engage with the story of the film than "oooh, that water pweeety."

Haha. Totally agree with you. James Cameroon with his Avatar always the main point is to showcase latest tech. The story is lackluster but I believe its still gonna be a gazillion dollars box office. Basically there's not much IMAX movies until the end of the year.

Interested in Predator: Badlands, but still undecided on whether I need to watch it in IMAX or not.

Late update but I watched Tron: Ares in IMAX and I enjoyed it. Definitely a flawed film but I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be.

I decided to watch the original Tron 1982 afterwards since I recognised some references (from Kingdom Hearts lol) and it turns out there were a lot of references to it in Ares.

Since I watched all 3 Tron films, I notice Ares is very much a Tron film like the previous 2. Mixed critic reviews, visually spectacular, excellent music, average or decent story, etc. Acting is also not a strong point in general across all 3 films. The acting (especially in Legacy) is pretty much carried by Jeff Bridges, though there are also a couple of notable acting performances from other actors (Ares also has a couple). Character writing is definitely one of the weak points of Ares but Tron '82 and Legacy are also not excellent too; Legacy has arguably the best character writing out of the 3.

So yeah, Ares is Tron film. NIN soundtrack is very good but it's unfair to compare it with Daft Punk.

It's a sequel to both Tron '82 and Legacy, but you can't go in expecting another Legacy. I think watching Tron '82 apart from Legacy would definitely enhance the experience of watching Ares. But it's a very old film with dated (but still impressive) CGI from the '80s, so it might be difficult to appreciate it and it would be like a fever dream to you if you can't vibe with it.

The ending and the mid-credits scene are setting up a sequel (also related to both Tron '82 and Legacy). But unfortunately, it's not doing well at the box office. Maybe we have to wait another 15 years for the sequel. cry.gif

Haha yeah

Last 2 weeks of November will be explosive

Now i finally understand why Mortal Kombat 2 is off the schedule and i agreed with the date push to summer 2026

October 2025 is mega blockbuster curse and it will hurt MK 2 numbers big time🤭🤭😄😆
