According to some reviews, DJI is the "Apple" of drones, everything should work right out of the box ... everytime. Also aware of the DJI Flip of Death but seems like they've fixed that so  tongue.gif

Don't mind paying a premium since I'm more into the photography part over flying.

just wanna take pictures huh ?
then just get the DJI la ... no setup headaches .. just P&P
and hope that it doesnt flip over over fly away la tongue.gif

U818A is just a standard camera NOT FPV
yeah..it's cheap and good for entry level...
*
exactly, U818 and other cheap drones are just a flier with a camera. not FPV. FPV means you can have a live feed video from the flier, so you can fly it from its point of view. this requires a video transmitter, which all cheap drones doesn't have.

as before, it's your money and you'll get what you pay for. you can't expect mercedes quality from buying a proton. same thing with DJI and the U818. the high end expensive drones have cool features you dont find in the cheaper ones. altimeter, trajectory, hover hold, motored gymbal, gps and other cool stuff.

if budget is not you problem, then i suggest looking for reviews on the electronic parts next. as in, which high end drones have the better/more robust electronic component.

Hi guys, thanks for the feedback. I do realize the U818A is a entry level drone, and after going through enough reviews (and youtube videos) I placed an order with Lazada. Including 10% MasterCard discount, total was RM152 thumbup.gif Now just hoping it will arrive since comments about Lazada are quite mixed.

Now the U818A will be my trainer drone as I'm setting my sights on the DJI Inspire 1 as I've mentioned before. I've searched around and next best option is a used DIY drone which has "LightBridge" for RM2k which looks very tempting price-wise (RM2k).

Issue now is to find a DJI seller in M'sia. Shashinki price is really high @ RM12k but I've sent them a price match request. Conversion USD to MYR from DJI store is RM10k ... excluding shipping. Another site hobbysportz.com is RM9.6k ... anyone has comments on buying from them ?

Hey guys, I was gonna get the Syma X5C-1:
http://www.banggood.com/Syma-X5C-Explorers...a-p-913827.html

read and watched a bunch of reviews and i think ive settled on this one.

my question is - will it get detained at customs or will i get charged for bringing one in?

edit: might even get the 808 keychain cam and attach it instead of the inbuilt one tongue.gif

Hoping to know the answer to this too smile.gif My experience importing laptop/camera has been fine since these are specifically exempt from customs tax. Didn't see a classification for "drones" and it could fall into electronics, transmitter, radio, machinery etc etc

Found on lelong - http://www.lelong.com.my/syma-x5c-x5c-1-up...5-08-Sale-P.htm

but sold out sad.gif

i doubt i can find one which has less "twitchy" control movement so i can take more stabilized video (probably can DIY a damper of some sorts)

so the x5c-1 difference is it uses the throttle trim as photo/video button? might be awkward for some.

i think the x5c is a good indoor flier. problem is the cam is angled too low so kinda useless indoor. very contradicting design rclxub.gif. you can always mod it.

the general rule is, small craft are easier blown by the wind. so, don't expect too much.

Short thoughts on my UDI 818A

Bought for RM152 via lazada.com.my thumbup.gif . Very impressed on speed of delivery, just 2 days after I ordered (and this is year end !)

This is my 1st quad, so comments may be noob-ish. Have flown it 10 times now (ie: 10 charges) and getting better at it smile.gif good stable flyer when there is no wind. With even a small tiny breeze this drone will struggle, unless you fly it close to the ground. Batt life is around 5 minutes of flight and 40 minutes to fully charge.

Also suggest google-ing around for the English manual online, was slightly confused at 1st on how to attach the camera.

Overall a happy purchase, now hoping sifu's here can recommend good spare batteries for this drone

Getting my DJI Inspire One next week.

Selling off my old DJI Phantom 1 with all the works: 4 batteries, 2 extra sets of propellers, the remote controller(obviously! tongue.gif), and the GoProfessional DJI Phantom Military Grade hardcase that I carry the Phantom around in.

Also selling off the GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition with all the works (LCD Bacpac, Battery Bacpac, Chesty, Helmet harness, extra waterproof housings, tons of mountings, remote control keychain, GoPole, GoPro's own battery charger).

Can take either the Phantom with the works, GoPro3 with the works, or take both for a special price.

I think the controller for the v2 is 2.4 GHz. Earlier on was tempting to convert my v1 FM to 2.4 GHz with that v2 but too troublesome tongue.gif
Some parts can be shared like the tail, the direct drive rear motor and etc . smile.gif
