play without adapter plugged in until 30% but i guess the energy management tool provides a stress test like you do in gaming or surfing the web with max brightness. both worked the same way, so no worries. smile.gif

so, preferably you use it without the adapter plugged in until it reaches 30%.

Here is my Quick Review of the Y410P

Physically, there is nothing much to distinguish this from the Y400. Same keyboard, with the same 3 stage red backlit. Same 1366x768 screen, and to be honest, nothing spectacular, just your standard run of the mill "HD" screen. Same ultrabay design, in this case with the DVDRW. Same thickness, USB port. In fact, aside from the newer sticker, externally, everything is the same as the Y400.

Inside however is another matter. Intel's newer Haswell chip, in this case the i7-4700MQ, 4 cores, 8 threads, Intel HD4600 that is wired for Optimus, NVIDIA 750M (same with the last new Y400), 8GB RAM and a 1TB hard disk all being run by Windows 8.

Good performance? Yep. Recommended to get this over Y400? Yep. Any problem? Nope. Unless you consider the Y400 problematic, in which case probably you should not buy the Y series in the first place.

Bottom Line : Same Thing - Better Engine.

I would say a bit better - but not by much. Just wifi, surfing, some music got close to about 5 - 5 1/2 hours. With really compromised screen brightness at that. Don't think you can expect much - it is a gaming laptop after all.

use older drivers as possible and avoid 320.18 drivers. you can select GT650M.

alternatively you can use the one from lenovo site.

the highlighted with red colour words are the linky. you can click that.

320.18 drivers have been reported to kill lots of graphics card, or make the computer extremely buggy nor improve performance than older drivers.

Hi guys,
I need some advice. I'm thinking of waiting for either the Y510p SLI GT750M or getting the Y500 SLI G750M.
My question on the Y500. I've asked a few vendors in Penang about the Y500 & they told me it comes with 2 x 4GB RAM 1600MHz. So if I wanted to upgrade to 16GB RAM later, I'd have to buy 2 x 8GB RAM & throw away the 4GB RAM. However, I read in the earlier posts, that the factory installed RAM is actually just a single 8GB RAM. If this is the case, then upgrading to 16GB would be easy & cheap as all I'd need to do is to buy & install another 8GB RAM.
For those of you who have purchased a Y500, could you check if your RAM is a single 8GB RAM or is it 2x4GB RAM?
Thanks
