same build quality as previous one, palm rest area can be warm after several hours of gaming, but not hot enough to make you feel uncomfortable, island style keyboard with the red backlight is super nice  as for performance, os boots much faster than previous windows and it runs game better than windows 7, and the new nvidia geforce GT 750m is a beast  , so expect medium to high settings on some games such as skyrim, fifa 13, the sims 3 and etc but not all, have seen a few problems with games such as The Last Remnant and the 2004 NFSMW, but it should be solved after nvidia released a driver update which maybe will come along with the later higher ends of the 700m gpu family . make sure to backup your laptop on the first run using the one key recovery and uninstall the mcafee antivirus which comes along with it *just my thoughts as there is better antiviruses out there* and there is a dust removal feature on the lenovo energy management app which is quite useful

play without adapter plugged in until 30% but i guess the energy management tool provides a stress test like you do in gaming or surfing the web with max brightness. both worked the same way, so no worries.

so, preferably you use it without the adapter plugged in until it reaches 30%.
