Hey all. I heard from my friends (whose family members are working with Shell) that Shell Miri will be taken over by Petronas in 2015. Can anyone else confirm this news?

anybody getting invitation from petra energy for assessment day this coming monday??I try to find anythings about petra energy assessment day and just met dead end everywhere..is this the first time petra energy making assessment day??

Oh,before i forget,this is designation for Fast Track Business Executives/ Engineers program..more like apprentice or graduate program i think..hope otai otai here can help me.tq.

Not sure bro, but as far as I know Shell is slowly handing back facilities to Petronas. On the other hand, Shell is opening up new fields with Petronas...and Petronas needs a business partner to run the show. They cant run the show by themselves, too much liability.

The EOR project is between Shell and Petronas till 2030 so I guess you heard this news from the corridor, no basis at all.

If I'm an Electrionics Eng - Major in telecommunication student,

1)can I do my intern at any Oil and Gas companies?
2)if it's possible, what position should I ask for?
3)If it's not possible, what should I do to enter Oil and Gas companies as an Engineer. What qualification or extra certs that i should have. (some of my friends told me that the easiest way is to get safety certs)

Please let me know as it'll be very helpful for me and my friends.

you can apply to any oil and gas company who provide real time communication.For example,Schlumberger SIS,you can also apply to scopetel but they are not an oil and gas company,but they do provide telecommunication service to the industry in Malaysia.

hi everyone, im a chemistry student who has just graduated. and I want to pursue my study in MSc petroleum engineering (coursework) either in UTM or UTP. but i have several questions regarding to their course.

1. Since both of them offer almost the same courses, which university is better in terms of their lecturers or courses? ( UTP is much more expensive)

2. Normally would it be a problem to work in the O&G company bcoz I only have a master's degree in petroleum engineering but a non engineering background degree?

3. Is UTM Msc petroleum engineering a competitive course?

years ago, a few seniors with tele ended in MWD/LWD but not long as can't withstand the offshore environment.

everyone wanna work in o&g but not evaluated himself/herself suitable or not.

u should try the tele companies honestly.

I would go for UTM. They have a more establishe PE department. As for your question regarding the undergrad degree, I would say that yes, it will be a disadvantage if you are compared with other PE graduates but it all depends on how you carry yourself in the interview. And chemistry is quite a good degree as some of the PE skills require chemistry knowledge

i've already applied for utm coursework. If no jobs offered until the day of registration, I def go for Master. Agree with bro azreil, PE dept in UTM quite an established. A lot of programs conducted by PE undergrad students (any ppl can join,if not mistaken). They quite close with SPE stuff also, I think.

Appreciate both replies and I'll do my research regarding the option given. But, I never thought of evaluating myself before this. Probably gonna start with that first. Thanks for the advises

For me, I would go for UTP in terms of relatively higher marketability in OnG upon graduation.

if he graduates with first class honours from either UTP or UTM, he has high chance of being called for a job interview in O&G industry.

Anyone here working at Dialog singapore before? I'm a fresh graduate and i'm applying for the project engineer post. I have an interview on Monday. I wish to know the working environment there as i know nothing..

based on my last trip to northern territory Australia july 2012, they are very active in Ichthys LNG Project owned by Inpex.

based on my last month trip to indonesia, they are very active and there are big tender in progress.

in msia, i only know in east peninsular malaysia their activities as on & off our kemaman/singapore plant has some OCTG orders from them.

They only have one exploration rig in Malaysia. Just finished their first well. Currently exploration activities halted due to some reason i dunno. Not so sure about downstream though.
