I see, bro thks so much for the advice u gave yesterday. just being curious, are you a petronas schoalr previously? bcos from previous thread, i've come to know that you're formerly from petronas, its one of the local MNC that i would very much like to enter. Just like to clarify some stuff that has been of rumours..isit true that petronas do have some racial policy in their employment? This is smthing im quite wried bout cos im not a bumi and hence wry that my chances might be hampered if i want to work in petronas

yup, non OnG related industries. applied to numerous OnG players, only few replied. That was the dark time of my life. I attended big players interview, fell hard on ground. From interview to interview, i learned from the mistakes. I always remember those dark days where i have to buy Star Newspapers every saturday, hunting for jobs. Now i'm a man with yellow coverall.

I was a Petronas scholar too, ages ago. When I came back after graduation (with honors too), it was at the tail end of recession in the late 1980s. Jobs were still not 'plentiful' in the country. Petronas also did not have many opening for fresh graduates (it had hundreds of fresh graduates at that time), and they let me off the bond (yeehaa! ). I work in O&G related companies from construction, design consultants and operators till today.

The irony was, my batch who had to repeat their classes and graduated a year or 2 after me were quickly hired by Petronas when they came back! I guess the timing was perfect for them since Petronas, especially Carigali was expanding rapidly. But I was glad they did not try to 'call me' back after letting me go. PHew!  I was already earning double the pay of Petronas engineer of the same age.

A friend (grad from UTP) purposely flunked the interview so that she won't be called to work for Petronas. She worked for contractor in Kerteh, paid off the Petronas scholar loan within 3 years. Total amount that she paid was a lot lesser than public university.

She told me she has no regret after seeing how miserable her friends right now at Petronas.

if you have the appropriate certs e.g. vibration cert, softwares, familiar with the CBM systems as which your potential employer is using, etc. you will be in highly demand.

Hey guys, I sent in my resume to Petronas at the last career fair at mid valley,  think approaching 4 weeks already.

I really wanna join petronas, but not really in the engineering dept but more on project mgmt because im from accounting background. I have ACCA and will be taking CIMA starting this November. Currently employed at the moment.

However, petronas Cari Gali hasnt been replying. Any advise on what should I do? I'd want to call them but i dont think I have the direct line or a direct person to contact to ask about my status

So soon enough I am going to be entering the working world. Already got a few offers but nothing close to tered title.

Somehow, I've got a few friends who wented for Bank Negara, Petronas, all getting 4.2-5k salary as starting 

I am not complaining, however, I might have missed other chances to get that much as a start 

I know we have to consider things like easier to get promotion lah, benefits lah etc, but I'd like to keep my options open and decide for myself.

Not really a person who gets it easy, sometimes I think its better to simply start with a nice big fat salary as a start, rather than work my way up. Plus, I am in need of a good financial position in the current period. You can say, I can't really wait that long to reach even a 4k worth salary from say, 2.8k.

btw, I am ACCA graduate. got no degree, no diploma

Can give me suggestions aa? ya laa, who doesn't like to start with even more than 3.5k 

Guess must be small company or the position/salary not really suitable for u    , but thats your decision to join them or not...feb to may..it has been so long...

i also got many friends in uitm, but most of them jobless after graduate..most of them join gov /GLC such as TNB/Telekom...
