Hey all. I heard from my friends (whose family members are working with Shell) that Shell Miri will be taken over by Petronas in 2015. Can anyone else confirm this news?

QUOTE(ar_zaem @ Nov 15 2012, 12:05 AM) What kind of question is this? It hugely depends on the kind of O&G company you have got yourself into - SME, MNC or GLC and whether it is an operator, service, consultant or vendor company etc etc It also depends on the location. Hence, it can go as low as 1.5k or go as high as >4k This post has been edited by klein: Nov 15 2012, 10:02 AM |

QUOTE(acgerlok7 @ Nov 22 2012, 01:09 PM) I see, bro thks so much for the advice u gave yesterday. Finish your degree first (since you most probably haven't done so) then start applying for jobs. If you haven't started applying, then cut the crap.I am an example of a non-bumiputera and non-scholar who is working with Petronas (without applying any cable). |

QUOTE(noruazumi @ Feb 21 2013, 06:06 AM) BTW, I am just curious. Why do undergrads really eager to go offshore? Do you think gaining weight at offshore is fun? part of it is because they think going offshore is so cool (compared to lets say, factories and offices) and they can brag about it to their peersjust like some people who wait to join this industry only to find out that they aren't suitable for it This post has been edited by klein: Feb 21 2013, 06:54 PM |

QUOTE(maninyellow @ Mar 16 2013, 01:02 PM) yup, non OnG related industries. applied to numerous OnG players, only few replied. That was the dark time of my life. I attended big players interview, fell hard on ground. From interview to interview, i learned from the mistakes. I always remember those dark days where i have to buy Star Newspapers every saturday, hunting for jobs. Now i'm a man with yellow coverall. This post has been edited by klein: Apr 2 2013, 05:58 PM |

QUOTE(Stamp @ Mar 18 2013, 01:43 PM) I was a Petronas scholar too, ages ago. When I came back after graduation (with honors too), it was at the tail end of recession in the late 1980s. Jobs were still not 'plentiful' in the country. Petronas also did not have many opening for fresh graduates (it had hundreds of fresh graduates at that time), and they let me off the bond (yeehaa! The irony was, my batch who had to repeat their classes and graduated a year or 2 after me were quickly hired by Petronas when they came back! I guess the timing was perfect for them since Petronas, especially Carigali was expanding rapidly. But I was glad they did not try to 'call me' back after letting me go. PHew! QUOTE(noruazumi @ Mar 18 2013, 01:53 PM) A friend (grad from UTP) purposely flunked the interview so that she won't be called to work for Petronas. She worked for contractor in Kerteh, paid off the Petronas scholar loan within 3 years. Total amount that she paid was a lot lesser than public university. Dear sifus,She told me she has no regret after seeing how miserable her friends right now at Petronas. What's so bad about Petronas? I know they don't pay as high as other O&G players & the engineers mostly do supervising (being with an operator afterall), what else? Is it the culture? |

QUOTE(ch_teo @ Apr 1 2013, 09:11 PM) if you have the appropriate certs e.g. vibration cert, softwares, familiar with the CBM systems as which your potential employer is using, etc. you will be in highly demand. My current employer is using SKF and there are more I have yet to be exposed to. I will be sent to undertake vibration certs once if I specialize in it.pls help yourself to find out if you have the heart to pursue this as a career. I will give myself few more months to see if I make a greater progress in learning it. |

QUOTE He also announced that Petronas will contribute RM20,000 to each family of the fallen heroes of Lahad Datu. In addition, the company will also donate RM1mil to the Police and Armed Forces welfare funds, he said. nothing new.. Petronas as a cash cow.. the RM1000 given to each person is nothing in comparison This post has been edited by klein: Apr 2 2013, 05:53 PM |

QUOTE(noonies_naruto @ Apr 27 2013, 06:47 PM) Hey guys, I sent in my resume to Petronas at the last career fair at mid valley, think approaching 4 weeks already. U are really desperate for the 4k salary, aren't u?I really wanna join petronas, but not really in the engineering dept but more on project mgmt because im from accounting background. I have ACCA and will be taking CIMA starting this November. Currently employed at the moment. However, petronas Cari Gali hasnt been replying. Any advise on what should I do? I'd want to call them but i dont think I have the direct line or a direct person to contact to ask about my status On a serious note, just wait lah. QUOTE(noonies_naruto @ Jul 22 2012, 08:15 AM) So soon enough I am going to be entering the working world. Already got a few offers but nothing close to tered title. no degree, no diploma.. i am not sure whether u will be considered or not.. u need to have at least a degree to be hired as executive and a diploma to be non-executiveSomehow, I've got a few friends who wented for Bank Negara, Petronas, all getting 4.2-5k salary as starting I am not complaining, however, I might have missed other chances to get that much as a start I know we have to consider things like easier to get promotion lah, benefits lah etc, but I'd like to keep my options open and decide for myself. Not really a person who gets it easy, sometimes I think its better to simply start with a nice big fat salary as a start, rather than work my way up. Plus, I am in need of a good financial position in the current period. You can say, I can't really wait that long to reach even a 4k worth salary from say, 2.8k. btw, I am ACCA graduate. got no degree, no diploma Can give me suggestions aa? ya laa, who doesn't like to start with even more than 3.5k This post has been edited by klein: Apr 27 2013, 11:01 PM |
