Hi everyone, my brother has a Saga Aeroback and had an accident last night. The rear axle has been damaged and needs to be replaced. Anybody knows where to find one? Chop shops might have them I think? We're in the Subang area.

i did change a new axle last year. To make it clear, it is not a recon one and it is not an original Proton also. i bought it from one of the workshop at pandan indah and it costs me rm580 + labour in Sept 2011.

hmm sis looking for an auto, else we could get to dealing it right away  sweat.gif

haha. LMSS only has 1 version which is the manual version unless the gearbox has been changed to auto. Besides, i believe the FC for a 1.3 auto iswara will be moneyflies.gif

U can advise her to get used to manual and then she is able to drive any cars dy. smile.gif

yes they last longer than rubber, synthetic based after all

if your sound is more apparent during turning, then most likely it is the drive shaft/cv joint.
considering the sound is also present (since you didn't say no sound, only higher when turning) during straights, i'd recommend replacing the entire drive shaft for both sides, expensive, however less headaches that way.

well im not too keen on bendix fronts considering the materials used. my current rapid stop is headache as it is in regards to brake dust haha.

best if you can identify where the sound is actually coming from instead of troubleshooting blindly smile.gif
if you're looking for kent then you can explain to him and he can help you troubleshoot.

how much is replacing whole driveshaft lol.. but replacing the axle and changing the axle seems cost a lot though.

is the rapid stop good? i saw plenty of positive review about it too. used to have dilemma on getting the bendix or RS tongue.gif

hmm cant remember the pricing, iinm was between rm500-700? wait for other sifu replies
whole axle kinda cost a lot, however you have to consider the entire axle unit is fairly huge...

for axle bush, most of the cost would be on labor while the parts are actually damn cheap (around/under rm50-100)

hmm RS... subjective i would say.
personally id move away from them due to the brake dust. they do stop well though.

front don't care at the moment since i'm also on PU bushings, dunno what brand though but it's still holding up well so that's that.
it's the rear axles that i'm not sure how the stock rubber (or maybe they are PU? no idea never really ask/inspect lol)

importing around january since the detailing stuff (eg: meguiar's) locally are overpriced to hell lol.
if just wash (not wash and wax, those are better once you've done a complete detailing session that includes proper claying/polishing and waxing lol) i can recommend turtlewax f21 car wash. very lubricating and does a pretty good job at washing off dirt. it doesn't cost an arm/leg too at ~rm25-30ish per large bottle

driveshaft depends on half cut / recond/china new. usual roughly rm1xx perside. somemore need do allignment also after dat. gear oil also need top up/change

rapid stop is good for normal road/less corner track. quazo told me its heavy dust. in youtube, some said its bite BUT will fade after few downhill corner at genting. m usin bendix ultimate, it feels more like stock, but onli show its strength when u hard brake. each also got dust but guess its less than rapid stop.

is it just me or the f***ing idiot put the brakes the other side around?

brake wise it looks like the pads still got some ways to go however the weird markings/wear indication seems to suggest that either the brakes was severely misplaced, and/or the mech put the heat sink backing plate on the friggin brake surface itself!

still, too bizarre to be true, hopefully other sifu can comment doh.gif

rear drum brake pumps leak quite common. replacement is maybe rm20-40 give/take per piece/side

bill looks ok. however to be honest, why ask about bill comments when you've already paid? things like these you ask BEFOREHAND. so if you got chop, how? sulk/sour about it? pointless right?

my point is that (if the opportunity exist), you learn before you make your mistake. you were lucky you didn't got a mechanic that chops you and the parts you replaced were fairly small sum parts. what about people that goes for an overhaul? get chopped for a 5k bill, then come around and ask "bill ok ah?".

that's my whole point.

Not so when go to some Proton service centre cut throat shop.

Coz I got my front stock brake pad replaced at RM90 last time doh.gif

Looks like Rapidstop/Bendix is next for me. I think I got my brake pads overheated.. But still too soon for replacement.

its normal , saga / iswara brake caliper design damm stupid 1 , it doesnt came with worn out indicator , its either ur forman discover ur brake is olmost gone or u discover urself like this , so next time u do routine servise ask ur forman to check ur front pads condition . and ur disc current condition , u can skim the disc to get back the flat surface , or just ignore it , not much effect on braking system , i scratch even worst than urs , still whacking up and down genting , hehehe . might have some irritating sound sometimes

price wise its resonable , not to worry much

afi pads wise , its quite good from review from people using it , better alot from original proton , so not much worry . ur new pads may need hard run in which means once installed the new pads get a 100km/h and then brake hard to stop but not ended to a complete stop , repeat the sequence for a few time till ur brake doesnt stop ur car , then let it cool down a few hours , then it will run in straight away , or if not just a few km on gentle drive , it may not perform good when new , so drive slowly yo

yeah rear brake pump is a b**** , its leaks very often , get bosch or original proton if urs leaks next time around , other brand is hopeless , speaking from my experince as mechanic icon_idea.gif

my updates

going low

front apm wira adjustable absorbers wit dunno wat japan halfcut evo adjustable spring , lowered to the max
rear apm sportec lowered spring with chopped two rounds wit hgas charged kyb absorbers

its low , but supricingly our saga/iswara is good for doing usdm stanced style , nothing get scraped , well only my exhaust were scraping speed bumps , need to get it reworks

and went up genting , feels damm good , if got budget get straight adjustable absorber front , sport spring and absorber doent give the handling improvement like a proper adjustable thumbup.gif
