Hi, want to ask, did anyone having problem when change to reverse gear ?
i driving the LMST Merdeka promo one. almost every time when change to reverse gear will have a PONG sound. the car will shake. wondering what is happen.
*
Probably like "krak" instead of "Pong"? Lol..

Can settle problem by first upper-right shifting to gear 5, pull back to neutral, then down-right shift to reverse gear. (The krak sound will be less, and of course, clutch fully pressed is major role also)

If not mistaken mentioned this problem is brought up at this forum before. If not mistaken is gear 1,3,5 have synchromesh, while 2,4,R no synchromesh.. So I assume bringing to to gear 5 will sync the gears and since the gears just synced properly, easier to masuk gear? (Sifus come in tunjuk ajar sikit)

wow, maxed out on the speedometer, dayum~

anyway, what's the usual RPM for Iswara Aeroback during Idle/Idle with AC on?

Mine is like ~1.2-1.3/1
*
My LMST is about 1.1-1.2 stock. But with headlights probably near 1.0 like that. I thought of making the timing lower but, car kinda rattling with headlights on, so no kacau.

Hi sifus,
Have a ques for high revving.

There is some kind of whistling noise can be heard once rev over 3k rpm, and then apply full throttle.

The sound only comes when floor throttle, vacuum reading 0.0 bar -0.1 bar. If 0.2 bar vacuum then the sound will gone, but if floor to 0.0-0.1bar again the whistle will occur.

I had tried to rectify the sound. It occurs at all gears, and off air con also has same problem, it's not the air con aeroplane sound. The sound is audible to me only if I floor at above 3k rpm. Cause i normally drive without radio.

Or I wonder is this just normal "vacuum" sound as we floor throttle...

I don't have an LMST not sure what you mean my gear/screw but in older iswara, the gear and screw is together. Turn the screw (philips head, right?) and the gears turn as well...

Not so when go to some Proton service centre cut throat shop.

Coz I got my front stock brake pad replaced at RM90 last time doh.gif

Looks like Rapidstop/Bendix is next for me. I think I got my brake pads overheated.. But still too soon for replacement.

guys and sifu here......

what is the wipers size for iswara sedan?..... is it 18"/19" .... can anyone advice?....... thanks a million
*
You can try go carrefour to get some Tomi Wiper.
RM8 for Waja size. 21" + 19", definitely will get rid of the sharkfin on the centre of windscreen. nod.gif

Btw, I did some research using measurement tape, 19" is the longest which will fit for passenger side, any larger like 20" will hentam windscreen side rubber dy. For driver side, I think can go even more than 22" or 23", just I scare the wiper will wipe slow if wiper too long. Haha.

Just my few cents...

Anyway all sifus, recently my handbrake light will continue turn on during morning start even after drop handbrake. After 10mins driving will somehow become normal again. I tried to check the handbrake wiring ok. Brake fluid on max level, brake fluid about 20000km. The light has no effect on braking or whatsoever means of stopping the car in time. Wonder whats problem... hmm.gif

check the hand brake cable/brake drums.

additionally, find an empty road, let your car move, and try to pull handbrake and see if your rear drum kicks in (without normal/front braking)
*
Ok.. Will get it done soon.
It will somehow only occur on bad mood day (Monday). Lol.

is it good? tot castrol alot of tiruan.tesco got sell?

Castrol semi syn can get at Carrefour when promo.
Tesco wait their mobil1 full syn 5w or 0w promo.

Though bit weird, my parents 400k km waja had used full syn Mobil1 till today since ownership. Heavily used, just top up more often..

From my experience on this car mineral and semi synthetic does make lots diff on fc when near oci. Mineral give me about 9.5km/l after like 4500km? Semi will somehow remain constant about 11km/l throughout until before oci.

quaza is right, so don't just depend on meter low mileage. i've replaced my meter before as well and it is definitely higher mileage than what is shown smile.gif

so look for full service records if they have, that way you can tell... also other general signs of usage, look at the seat, the tires (look at date code and you can tell how old the tires are), even the rubber covering the pedals.
*
That's basically what I checked when got my LMST. It's reported to be 25k km accorfing to meter. So the car service book is there showing car just serviced at 20k km. Date of production matched tyre date. Conditions of trim and gear stick holder wear rate normal..

just imagine how large is it when a pajero in front of me who 1st hit it having radiator leaking

i was lucky enuf to only hitting it side sweat.gif

Hi bro, seremban and senawang area prone to this issue, some modus operandi active behind. Irresponsible tow trucks and unreasonable charges. They can even tap into PLUS radio band and know exactly which km you're in. Personal experience.. So just go slow on this stretch as its very active area..

My FC since many users asked.. At least 10km/l, 50% highway and city. Highway best is 16.3km/L.

i am relatively new here in the Proton Saga LYN forum.

from my experience, my proton saga drove quite well when starting, just that after a while driving,
and stopping the car while pressing the brake and clutch, the engine suddenly died.
i have to restart the car and it runs fine again. This happens quite commonly.

also, when i was driving at gear 5, the engine suddenly drops RPM, i tried pressing the accelerator,
it goes up a few RPM, jerk, and then died. Quite dangerous as i was coasting at 80km/h...
then i restart the engine, and then i drive normally..

:/ i suspect the fuel pump, fuel filter problem...
*
I'm no expert here but from my knowledge Iswara does not have a electronic fuel pump unless you're driving an EFI version UK spec iswaras. Generally iswara have mechanical fuel pump, controlled by vacuum only... If really suspect fuel pump, check vacuum lines leading to it. Fuel filter might be your option, very cheap to replace even ori proton ones.

For the coasting and died engine try checking your battery terminal wires. All wires should fit snugly (tight), including those clips that is snap on onto the positive terminal, they're just prone to vibration and got loosen over time. This issue is raised quite a while back.

Just wonder iswara lmst merdeka edition is using which brand of lock actuator for central locking? I called up Proton and they offered multicode and delloyd brand.

I open up my car door panel, and found tht owner changed to gun type on both doors..

Appreciate any info..

I use this type of wire ok ah?
Or I need to use fine wire instead of rough?
*
Been in waja thread before. Some of them used welding cable as grounding wires. Those wires are real thick, insulation too. But the wire inside is rather fine. Its RM12+ per meter when I asked few years ago.

But I dunno whether will it tahan oxidation... Cause in market lots grounding kits claim between the insulation and wire, there is no oxygen to prevent oxidation. Dunno how true though...

Sifus,

Recently did 60000km OCi to my Merdeka LMST.
Service centre mechanic found out that:
1. Rocker cover gasket need to replace.
2. Camshaft and crankshaft oil seal
3. Change timing belt (Coz timing belt kena oil from burst oil seal, thus harden the belt, true?)

Questions:
1. Wonder at such milage these things starts to happen, no more than 3.5k revving normal driving?
2. Camshaft and crankshaft oil seal included in ori proton timing belt kit? I understand that the timing belt kit comes with oil seal and tensioner as told by SC. Planning to go ori unless got better brand suggestions.
3. Any precaution that I need to take note on this replacement process? Whole rocker cover opened up, dust infiltration? Lol...
4. Expected cash, time taken by foreman and what recommended to be changed together? (planning to change water pump and all beltings together, bearings?)

Thanks!

Why at only 60,000 km you need to change gasket & oil seals, is there a lot of oil leaking out ?

I had an experience from a previous car (non-Proton). Oil was leaking all over the engine. Turns out to be a blocked PCV valve causing high pressure build-up forcing out the oil. Cleaned the PCV valve, no more leak.

My point is there could be other causes of oil leaks, may be worth checking.
*
Ok. I probably will wait another 2 weeks or so to identify the real leaking area. SC ppl wiped cleaned my engine cover so kinda hard to diagnose... The leaking isn't obvious, with the engine oil dip stick, I can't tell oil level dropped within OCI, for me is 10000km as in service book.

Thanks bro Quaza for much enlightenment. I think I will change all the rotating parts stuffs.

1) Beltings, 2 belts only right? Timing and aux belt.
2) Btw Proton engine mounting ok? Think will be changing some of them too as I saw they're still-can-use but about time dy. Performance mounting too harsh?

SC told me around this price for my timing belt kit, thats why i'm concerned. But sometimes their quote maybe way off as they initially quote me RM500 for my OCI shocking.gif They quote me (looking at ceiling quote) RM800 and 1 day and night to get the car done shakehead.gif

eh since when our saga/iswara got 10k km OCI? lol

1) more than that, timing belt (covered beside engine rocker cover) and other misc belts. the timing kit from proton is ONLY the timing belt

2) no problem, however if you're on auto, the front/back torque mounts (Cheap as hell though) are prone to breaking too early (few months only, even on ORIGINAL proton mounting oTL), so i improvised and pumped silicone to fill in all the gaps to reduce freeplay. not as solid/tough as those racing/performance mounts, however won't be too harsh while your car is on idle/low rpm unlike aforementioned stiff mountings.
do look back on my previous postings as i've posted pictures on the process biggrin.gif

that said, side mounting are in the hundreds, so for those, unless it's broken, usually also won't bother changing cuz of the price sweat.gif
*
Lol. Service book 10000km stamp once. Semi syn all the way, just oil filter gotta work harder when nearing its lifetime. I heard our Iswara oil filter is kinda outdated and small in filtering capacity?

My observation from engine bay already 3 belts, seems like there's more as some parts are covered.

Yeah I saw what you did to your mounting last time, darn creative! But did your foreman say anything when they saw it... Haha.

Any recommended shops on this? Quite scared going to be chopped outside...
