So what happened just now, she told me, her manager is sending an email to my corporate email address (as provided on the form which I'm puzzled why this is requested on the form but never mind), he just needs me to confirm "yes". I was like just a yes won't be too troublesome for me. I agreed and replied almost instantly.

Then, she messaged me that they have received my email reply. She continued with, we need your employee ID tag photo?! I , why? That email address is not enough to prove I'm working in this company? She said if you provide this photo, then we can waive the bank statement and employment verification. Sounds like a good deal, just a photo and can waive two stuff. I sent in for sure. Then, my name on the ID tag is not as per my IC, I cannot control this because company allows my nickname to be printed on ID tag. She said then it is not accepted. I need to show them my full name as per IC and company's name. Is there any way I can show to them? Finally, I got my staff to prepare a copy of my employment confirmation letter. I sent over and no news after that, maybe after working hours already.

I told her, "Your bank's VI requirement is so low that any of my VS cards (not even VI) in other banks have higher requirement than this and nobody has questioned me until this extent." Honestly, it seems they don't trust their customers, but still hoping people will apply for their cards, then make their their life miserable. I begin to admire my patience now.

Sorry to hear about your nightmare. But kudos to you, you're really a patience lady. Maybe they hired someone from audit company. (these clowns trust nobody) Hopefully this will be the last!

I have very good and pleasant experience with Alliance Bank, especially their CS. Every year I called in to ask for SST cashback, no question asked. They just ask me to swipe 3 times, then automatically credit RM26 back to my credit card (don't ask me why, i don't know why the extra RM1). After that they will give me a callback to say cashback has been credited.

hahaha. just about the same as my experience.

Yeah, I'm usually quite short-tempered but not sure why I have such high patience in tolerating their nonsense.

I hope my persistence will pay off...

Nope. They rejected my application.

I think this is the only bank among all the major banks that reject my application.

Well, same here in my opinion, their application process is a joke where they are asking for so many details from us e.g. detailed EPF statement, bank statements, salary slips of several months. Worse than applying for a loan.

What makes you wanna go for their VI then? I thought after they changed the TBP to only the 1st 3k reloading to ewallet entitled x8 TBP, this VI macam not so good liao.

Unless got lots of online transaction apart from ewallet, then this VI is still tempting lah!

I got mine “attached” with my house loan with Alliance. So I didnt know applying CC from Alliance is so troublesome.

Anyway, for my house loan application with them, i just submitted the common required documents. And Voila, ironically, among few banks, ONLY Alliance bank approved mine🤣, with the LEAST documents required, as other banks still request for extra documents.

Yes, at least something though capped to 3k now. Wanna use the points for airmiles though my preference is not EM.

I wonder all these requirement is come from the specific branch or HQ?
Last time I apply from a banker which not specialize in cc section, he also put up plenty documents requirement. I give up and swap to different sales person.
Second sales person very straight forward and clearly stated what is needed, so the process just went through smoothly without any hiccups.

I'm not sure whose requirement but if she cannot proceed after I sent in so many documents, I will change to another sales person.

For mine, they asked for:

1. BE form & tax receipt
2. Personal bank statements (3 months)
3. Payslip (1 month)

*For salaried employee*

That's about it. Verification call on employer & applicant. Pretty smooth if you ask me. I think it is more about who is handling your application? Just my 2 cents.

Probably it is the salesperson, but applying for a credit card requires an employer's verification, this is new to me. Even I didn't get calls when I applied for loans.
Anyway, let's see how this story develops later.

Wow I thought my experience already very poor. Unexpected your experience is even weird. This bank is indeed the most weird bank in handling credit card application.

For my cases, I decided not to proceed after the weird experience. But someone from alliance bank suddenly call me and ask me to submit through him instead.

The weird thing is he ask for driving license as part of documents needed. It is damn weird so I decided not to proceed again. Lol make me wonder do they need my driving license to prove I can drive? I don't think that affecting credit score.

In my opinion, this card isn't as attractive as it used to be after they implemented the 3K TBP cap on e-wallets. I was able to hit quite some TBP every month but now with this capping, it reduced the points earning to as much as 80% for me. However, so far this is still the best card among all others.

Put aside the topic of spenders spoiling the market.
