I heard that CSC and EDS are some of the names with high chances of being outsourced to. And I heard that CSC has had no bonus for the past 5 years @_@ I don't know, this takes place in 2009, yeah? And with another 2 years of guaranteed employment, that's like 4 years of safety... maybe.

Does anyone know what vendors are considered for the Database Administrator group?

Hi guys,

Just found out about this forum. Anyway, I need some advice/insiders tips on working with SHELL. I have accepted a job offer for a permanent position with Sarawak Shell (EP) in Miri, and am due to start in the immediate future. Salary and benefits notwithstanding, what is the job expectation, working culture and environment, office politics etc once I step into my new workplace soon. By the way, the position is technical oriented, hands-on and analytical. And do those expection/culture/environment differ as you climb up the ladder?

Thanks in advance.

p/s: BTW, after reading through this thread, I just realize that one's recruitment process (interview, SRD, bla bla) can be different from another.

So, you are working offshore ehh? What's it like working at Sarawak Shell? I'm not too sure on which department would I be working, what hints I got that I'll be working onshore, and most probably go to platforms on few occasions, looking after the gas turbines, compressors etc.

yeah, i am based offshore.

perhaps i might be meeting you next time if you come to our platform doing turbine maintenance.
for me working for SSB is biasa laa...like any other company also. here in my location offshore we got a good balance between young & older workforces. so far so good, the seniors are willing to help just dont afraid to ask them.

if you are going to work on the gas turbines, specialists i know is Praba, Zolkipli....

it's not waiting list actually. it's like if there's a requirement from the shell entity, then they will call you for SRD, otherwise, they will not call you.

Hi guys (and ladies as well), I'm in desperate need of some sound advice. I'm from Mech Eng background and I once applied for Shell internship but by the time they responded, I had already accepted another company.

Today, I received a call to go for an interview in my hometown of Miri, stated that they were offering me an employment chance. I have to go for a 2-days interview, and some technical presentation at the end. And that they have my records from my previous application so I no longer need to go for the first round interview.

Has anyone gone through a similar thing? How is the interview like? I mean, 2 days? What's on the menu? Anything?

wow 2 days interview, which means the hotel accomodation and other expenses will be provided right?

I recently go for SITI interview in cyberjaya and the interview all is verbal presentation of your skills. The HR people didn't explain to you whats is the schedule of the interview since it was so long? Maybe you should try to contact them to get the detail.

All the best to your interview, and please update us the status. Thats interesting to know what is the interview going on for that 2 days rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Nope, I'm forking out travel expenses myself. So far from the phone conversation, the first day will start from 2pm to 6pm whereas the following day will be a full day, whereby I need to do a technical presentation at the end of the day. Seems very heavy duty. Anyone had a similar prior experience with Shell? Any info provided would be very much appreciated.

Maybe because your travel is not so far thats why they are not giving you the allowances.

After the next day of the interview i already get the offer to be relocate to cyberjaya. Yippeee icon_rolleyes.gif
Sorry that i can't provide much information to you since we work in different field and my interview only last 3 hours.

The position you are applying sure is high rank since need to do presentation. Hope soon we may have chance to work together. nod.gif

I don't think it has anything to do with high rank or not, but maybe because our disciplines are different. Congratulations on having such a quick reply and a fast start on your career.

I received the e-mail regarding some details of the interview and it's quite an interesting read:

Day 1 (afternoon session) comprises of :
-numerical test
-practise exercise
-Introduction to some background info regarding case study and group study exercises

Day 2 (full day):
-Case Study
-Group exercise
-Business Scenario Interview
-Technical Assessment

These are just the summary of the itinerary. For example when they state Group Exercise, it's actually further broken down into small group presentation; large group presentation; and assessment presentation. This applies to the other tasks whereby there are subtasks within each major task.

Can anyone share their experiences? Any ideas what is meant by a numerical test?

Maths is a bit vague. I mean it could be algebra and calculus, statistics and probability, numerical methods....etc...
