QUOTE(suka milo @ Jun 11 2007, 11:36 AM) OMG, i asked u what u guys think? ive stated it clearly think means i dont need excact answer but only opinion i dont wanna ask them directly becoz i still have another commitment somewhere else. most of the case, if you had turned down a company's invitation for interview, it will be recorded in their HRD system. well, if you wish to have a second chance, just call up the HR and tell them why you missed the chance the last time round. with proper explanation, i believe they will willing to give you another chance. just handle it the professional way.

Patience is a virtue
|
Some companies might red flag a candidates application especially if they failed the interview or if they rejected. Certain companies have policies to keep the red flag for a year or two.
At this point they will not entertain any more applications from that same candidate during the period the red flag is activated.

QUOTE(Savor_Savvy @ Jun 15 2007, 12:11 AM) Any preparation advices? Is it scary? Phone interview is nothing to be scared about. WHen the real interview comes, prepare some scenario answers like leadership, team-work, etc. Where you see yourself in 5 years? WHat you do when you come to a tight situation? How you handle? It looks a lot at confidence and the way you speak. Dont be afraid. TEchnical questions will also be asked, only one or two though so you make sure you know your basic IT knowledge la like how many class of TCP/IP, what is NETBIOS used for, etc.

Engineering ques are tough to answer, unless it's a very basic one. Thanks for the advices....appreciate it. Added on June 16, 2007, 12:53 amIf i'm not sure of an answer, or i dunno how to answer, what should i say? Should i say..."Sorry, i'm not very sure about that"?...or???? My phone interview only last around 30mins. Would that be a problem? I applied for internship for 2 months, anyhow. They sent me an email that looks roughly like this QUOTE We were pleased to have the opportunity of talking to you recently at your interview.
We would now like to advise you that your application is under consideration for one of our Pre Employment Opportunities and a member of our recruitment team will be in contact with you in the near future.
Pre Employment Opportunities are totally dependent on project availability. In addition, it also takes into account a specific matching of the project requirements with your background and expectations. In the event that none of the conditions above are met, candidates will be kept in our database for reference and future employment consideration. I was told that it is better to have longer intership than shorter internship? What i mean is that they would rather recruiter interns who wants to work longer. I was told by HR personnel that the next SRD should be around 2 weeks time. Has anyone been invited for the upcoming SRD? Anyone knows the exact date?

Any of u guys n girls got the job n starting work in July?
oh. btw, there is no exact date for SRD. They will call u up when there is a business requirement (position) which u are suitable for consideration and evaluation according to your resume and 1st interview. Therefore, one person's invitation to SRD might differ from another person.

All i have to say is that if you are applying for a technical position, then you should know your stuff. Simple as that.

I just got the job offer from Shell. Only last week did my medical check up. I applied in February 2007 and only got the offer letter in May 2007. For phone interview normally done by the HR recruiter . My phone interview was done by a recruiter who just join Shell for 1 month only and so my phone interview was simple and direct to the point. They will be asking about background, work experience details and the important thing is your qualification. You have to be very details of your certificate , qualification , duration of study. If there is is any discepancy between your submission and your information in the phone interview , chance are they will seek clarification first before they can proceed further . For my SRD , I was called in Miri where they give free accomodation and flight tickets. During the SRD which last 3 hours , will be a challenge and you have to be really confident and know what to say and answer . Tips:- most of the time the interviewer will be doing a lot of writing while you answer the question given. So if they suddenly look at you while you answer that means your answer is not right or some part that they should ask you to reconsider back your answer. So you have to give the answer in other scenario in case they stop writing. It happens to me one time where i answer wrongly and the interviewer stop writing and repeat back the question . If you don't understand the question , please say so and ask the interviewer what does it means. They don't expect you to be 100% perfect. They just an honest answer from you and don't be afraid to admit that you are wrong . They just want to know how you solve the problems.
Ok. I am babbling too much .....hope my experience will help you all who will be going for SRD.
