bro, i wish to know the detail also..

according to technician, all of MAxis Fiber are all borrow TM infra.

but this time, questions come, if all connected to the TM infra, how can some of the users get different results.

From what u checking at the modem part, i double check already, it does not stated any logo neither TM nor MAxis.

i only see got one big name for the modem brand HUAWEI

so how do you think ?

i think he is using download manager already. just that the speed will vary from time to time.

my speed also not constant i can see it hit max is 8xx then drop to 7xx then 6xx then later on >> 7xx >> 8xx.

6xx - 8xx as range of speed i guess. hmm.gif

I do hope it's 640KB/s not 640kbps .... it matter alot if used wrongly.
I can get 900KB/s to 1.1MB/s from thinkbroadband 1GB download.

Happily pushing 1MB/s with Direct Downloads (Premium) ... don't waste while still on UNLIMITED QUOTA

not all Maxis FTTH using TM infra 1..Maxis has it's own fibre deployed in some places too, where do you live?
So far i never seen speed goes up to ~40Mbps and ping as low as 0~5ms like urs before (although FTTH suppose to have low ping) so i suspect either u r on Maxis own fibre infra (which bypass the TM part) or you are on business package..maybe some other tai ko in this thread who knows more can answer this question tongue.gif

I used to live in HK and using PCCW 200Mb, never had ping more than 5ms when speed test and connection never lost, i don't understand why Maxis & TM FTTH is so bad even to local servers, maybe they only shown us the front part were they r using fibre for us but backend their server & infrastructure still not cope up with real fibre whistling.gif whistling.gif

Basically i really got not clue how back end is connect. just heard from technician Maxis got a lot of servers to point to.

My package is rm148 vmad.gif out of promotion...

My Area is Setapak -genting klang there...

but one thing is very obvious which is the FTTH at my area is not so many people using i don't know whether this have any related or not, coz i can see the cabinet that they connected at the control room, i am the second person. unsure.gif

Sad things is nothing is perfect, test the download speed to taipei , guang zhou, US still very low ,sometime can lower than 2 MB especially guang zhou and Tokyo .... sad.gif

For Maxis FTTH international routing latency test, I normally ping to one of the major Singapore ISP server such as StarHub mail server and check their reply time
.
Current output of ping test to StarHub mail server via Maxis FTTH infrastructure (@my house):
c:\>ping -n 5 imail.starhub.com

Pinging imail.starhub.com [203.116.254.213] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 203.116.254.213: bytes=32 time=233ms TTL=107
Reply from 203.116.254.213: bytes=32 time=234ms TTL=107
Reply from 203.116.254.213: bytes=32 time=230ms TTL=107
Reply from 203.116.254.213: bytes=32 time=231ms TTL=107
Reply from 203.116.254.213: bytes=32 time=229ms TTL=107

Ping statistics for 203.116.254.213:
    Packets: Sent = 5, Received = 5, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 229ms, Maximum = 234ms, Average = 231ms

Current output of ping test to StarHub mail server via Maxis corporate internet infrastructure (@my office):

sh-4.1$ ping -c 5 imail.starhub.com
PING imail.starhub.com (203.116.254.213) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 203.116.254.213: icmp_seq=1 ttl=113 time=45.8 ms
64 bytes from 203.116.254.213: icmp_seq=2 ttl=113 time=45.8 ms
64 bytes from 203.116.254.213: icmp_seq=3 ttl=113 time=47.3 ms
64 bytes from 203.116.254.213: icmp_seq=4 ttl=113 time=45.8 ms
64 bytes from 203.116.254.213: icmp_seq=5 ttl=113 time=46.3 ms

--- imail.starhub.com ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 5 received, 0% packet loss, time 4053ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 45.812/46.237/47.356/0.623 ms

Current different in reply time is 231ms vs 46ms. Need to check again on 1st of September 2012
