basically i feel little disappointed...said come to install on last week but come with only modem without the Huawei Echolife HG8240...

till now not update me regarding this device availability....

same company contractor but come out with different version story...

one saying the Huawei Echolife HG8240 suppose to place it at the installation place.

the other one said the Huawei Echolife HG8240 should return coz of it is testing unit purpose which instructed by the maxis stuff.

From what i heard the stock is unavailable is modem which told by maxis staff.

So what i can do just keep waiting...me subscribe in 25 of july... till now .. more 3 week already.... wtf.... really want to slap them la... mad.gif mad.gif

Since your download speedtest is ok, you may test downloading any file from Microsoft Download Center with any download manager to verify you can get full 10Mbps download speed.

For the latency, Maxis team still working on it until end of August. I also waiting the 1st September 2012 to come and test the Maxis FTTH latency again.
tq
*
bro, how u test on the latency?

any tools? or what command to used?

mind to share ?

The simplest tool is using built-in tool in our Operating system such as ping and trace route. For MSWindows you may use command ping and tracert, for Linux/Mac/UNIX you can use ping and traceroute. Just append /? or --help or -h at the end of each command to get help how to use it. tq
*
be honest..i just installed FTTP last week.

so not sure wat DNS to ping or IP to traceroute...

mind to tell me what IP to ping to or traceroute to ?

appreciated ur knowledge sharing. nod.gif

2nd day of all new installation, all is fine but they gave me the same ol' thomson router.

A quick question,do you turn off your modem & router when not using it or its better to just kept it on all the time?
*
logic thinking is better shut down when not using lo. avoid from being hack or struck by lighting during stormy time lo.

anyway, just my suggestion and it is good for machine to rest rather than overburden right. smile.gif

For Maxis FTTH international routing latency test, I normally ping to one of the major Singapore ISP server such as StarHub mail server and check their reply time
.
Current output of ping test to StarHub mail server via Maxis FTTH infrastructure (@my house):
c:\>ping -n 5 imail.starhub.com

Pinging imail.starhub.com [203.116.254.213] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 203.116.254.213: bytes=32 time=233ms TTL=107
Reply from 203.116.254.213: bytes=32 time=234ms TTL=107
Reply from 203.116.254.213: bytes=32 time=230ms TTL=107
Reply from 203.116.254.213: bytes=32 time=231ms TTL=107
Reply from 203.116.254.213: bytes=32 time=229ms TTL=107

Ping statistics for 203.116.254.213:
    Packets: Sent = 5, Received = 5, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 229ms, Maximum = 234ms, Average = 231ms

Current output of ping test to StarHub mail server via Maxis corporate internet infrastructure (@my office):

sh-4.1$ ping -c 5 imail.starhub.com
PING imail.starhub.com (203.116.254.213) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 203.116.254.213: icmp_seq=1 ttl=113 time=45.8 ms

Is your Maxis FTTH using maxis infra or TM infra? Hmm..in case u dunno what i'm saying..look at your modem (the black color 1)..is the brand logo TM or Maxis? your ping local ping is superb!
*
bro, i wish to know the detail also..

according to technician, all of MAxis Fiber are all borrow TM infra.

but this time, questions come, if all connected to the TM infra, how can some of the users get different results.

From what u checking at the modem part, i double check already, it does not stated any logo neither TM nor MAxis.

i only see got one big name for the modem brand HUAWEI

so how do you think ?

That's slow... pls use download managers to download which download using multiple connections to maximise your Internet connection
*
i think he is using download manager already. just that the speed will vary from time to time.

my speed also not constant i can see it hit max is 8xx then drop to 7xx then 6xx then later on >> 7xx >> 8xx.

6xx - 8xx as range of speed i guess. hmm.gif

I do hope it's 640KB/s not 640kbps .... it matter alot if used wrongly.
I can get 900KB/s to 1.1MB/s from thinkbroadband 1GB download.

Happily pushing 1MB/s with Direct Downloads (Premium) ... don't waste while still on UNLIMITED QUOTA
*
sorry it is KB/s ,wrong typing, thanks for correcting me.

somehow reach to the 900KB/s is not constant for me.
UNLIMITED QUOTA that is the reason i subscribe nod.gif

QUOTE(Cageon @ Sep 2 2012, 01:43 AM)
not all Maxis FTTH using TM infra 1..Maxis has it's own fibre deployed in some places too, where do you live?
So far i never seen speed goes up to ~40Mbps and ping as low as 0~5ms like urs before (although FTTH suppose to have low ping) so i suspect either u r on Maxis own fibre infra (which bypass the TM part) or you are on business package..maybe some other tai ko in this thread who knows more can answer this question tongue.gif

I used to live in HK and using PCCW 200Mb, never had ping more than 5ms when speed test and connection never lost, i don't understand why Maxis & TM FTTH is so bad even to local servers, maybe they only shown us the front part were they r using fibre for us but backend their server & infrastructure still not cope up with real fibre whistling.gif  whistling.gif
*
Basically i really got not clue how back end is connect. just heard from technician Maxis got a lot of servers to point to.

My package is rm148 vmad.gif out of promotion...

My Area is Setapak -genting klang there...

but one thing is very obvious which is the FTTH at my area is not so many people using i don't know whether this have any related or not, coz i can see the cabinet that they connected at the control room, i am the second person. unsure.gif

Sad things is nothing is perfect, test the download speed to taipei , guang zhou, US still very low ,sometime can lower than 2 MB especially guang zhou and Tokyo .... sad.gif
