Hi guys, it seems like user on public IP have more dc problems than users on private IP.

The default installation is public or private IP?
What's the advantage of having public IP?
Which one should i use? I am not a gamer but a heavy downloader and use internet for live football match streaming.

the problem with streamyx 4 is multiple users. one guy play youtube in HD, another will get affected.

i signed up for the RM118 maxis simply because it's cheaper than my streamyx 3.0 (2mb "upgraded" to 3mb). now everybody play youtube, and it doesn't affect the others. play dota also no problem

download speed fantastic. for me , I use a $4/month VPN to watch hulu and other sites, smooth sailing

What VPN do you subscribe to? You mean $4 as in US dollars? Sorry for asking stupid question, why would you want to use VPN in the first place?

maxis>unifi

in terms of price biggrin.gif

im very with my connection. dont have any DC.
private ip, landed house.
last few weeks have few hicups.
already reaching 3 months using the service.
no gaming, only heavy download and heavy youtube.
overall its better than my previous streamyx 4mb except the ping problem.

but i read through the thread here n other forums, the thomson router very problematic..

and price now 138, no more 118, so its very close to unifi VPN 5 and streamyx 4.0 in terms of price.

and though it says 10mbps, compared to 5.0mpbs unifi, and 4.0mpbs streamyx, the DC is a big concern rclxub.gif

need VPN to watch geospecific sites like pisces88 said.

such as HULU, CBS , WB, bla bla bla which only allow US I.P

I heard that soon, BBC Iplayer will allow US IP , currently only UK IP. with iplayer i can watch all those british comedy wah so nice !

yeah US$4

Unify is triple play and it comes with free iptv set top box. If potong Astro, Unify gives better over all cost savings.

These few days.... connecting to Maxis on Thomson router startup seem difficult to get connected. Maybe too many Public IP address assigned.

Default is Private IP range
Public IP allows better torrenting experience and CCTV connection
I suggest Private IP

Maxis has given me pretty good latency in Diablo 3 the last time I tried, probably few weeks ago.

Hopefully Guild Wars 2 wont have much problems like what you guys are facing in games hosted in local servers.
