QUOTE(Orbituary @ Oct 24 2012, 12:06 PM) bro, may i ask you what is the speed limit that you're looking at? i mean do u drive with top speed all time? as for me, i just tried once on my k5 top speed and it give me around 195 km/h, and fyi, that wasnt the limit yet, i has no balls to stick the pedal to the floor.. I had watched the drag race. If you really want to compare the speed, k5 beat honda and camry......but i havent hav any chance to try/see/watch drag race between: k5 2.0 vs sonata 2.0 vs camry 2.0 vs accord 2.0 ..and im looking forwards to see the result, if the result show the difference gab below 1-2sec, i wont say it doesnt make any difference for me, this is D-segment ride, if looking for sporty performance, i wont got for AMG/BMW/AUDI which is outta topic here. if the performance wasnt an concern, than should compare with the: 1. Pricing 2. Package -internally and externally 3. Safety features 4. confortability 5. design and look 6. accessory thats my 2cent http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCDCIXbVrBs Added on October 25, 2012, 1:20 am QUOTE(epo @ Oct 24 2012, 11:58 PM) Good one!! Totally agree with you. I always told my friend, if resale value is so important to you then when you decide to buy a car you only need to look for Toyota and Honda. No need to waste time and shop around. My friend parent just spend $100k++ to buy a jazz hybrid...... I only felt sorry for them..... but they have to right to spend their own money.... I just felt sorry for them to live in "resale value" world...... This post has been edited by wttonyz: Oct 25 2012, 01:20 AM |

If you really want to compare the speed, k5 beat honda and camry...... i had watch this video during i did my survey on K5 b4 i bought it, but this video is drag between 2.4 & above cars, u can see they use 2.4 turbo GDI engine (similar with sonata 2.4 version), and we didnt have this model in boleh land yet (and not sure if NAZA KIA will bring this in or not)..i really wish to see the drag race/statistic/result on those 2.0 version, personally i test camry and sonata, the result for this 3 model win by k5, camry is too heavy for 0-100 and 4speend auto loss to 6 speed auto interm of long disctance high speed, and i would say i am biased to Optima baby..hehehe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCDCIXbVrBs Added on October 25, 2012, 1:20 am Good one!! I just felt sorry for them to live in "resale value" world...... yet i havent tested high speed cornering and touge (uphill &downhill run), but i dont think these car can really take those corner as how c segment does, at least for me cos i dorve c segment for the pass 10 year and my lousy skill cap on c segment only please dont get me wrong, im not trying to say this is the best car u can have, but as for 2.0, with 6 speed auto, stabilize and traction control, 6 airbag, full sunroof, infinity sound system with 8 speaker, keyless entry, auto light, auto wiper, rear fog light (actually this is quite unique and safety, especially during heavy raining on highway when vincibility is low so the car behind you will notice your car),18' rim, full leather seat, memory seat (this is something fun and just like a toy for me).. and etc, this car is worth and value for your hard-earn money compare with other brand who offer you an cut cost package. Please do share what/how you feel about this car..sharing is caring adios |

The definition of investment is when something helps to earn recurring income. Therefore a car should never be considered as an investment unless it is used as a taxi. I have always treated my car as a rental. That is why I always go for the maximum years for the loan to reduce repayment. Whenever ppl ask me why do I choose a car with no resale value, I just told them that I don't change my car so often and as the article pointed out, why forgo your interest in a car just for the sake of able to sell it at a higher price later

To me, it all depends on your earning power ! If your income are at least 7 figures per year, buying a K5 is like buying a mobile phone for a normal income person, resale value is a difinite not into your consideration. If your income are at least 6 figures above per year, buying a K5 is not very much a burden to you, resale value might be part of the consideration but still is not a major concerned. But, if you are spending more than 30% of your income for your monthly installment, then you must have a serious consideration on whether you should go for a K5 or not. And, talking about the resale value, I don't understand why are there so many people are not favor to korean car, for my own opinion if more peoples are buying korean car from now on then how could the resale value still became lower ? If korean car quality keep improving and keep outpaced japanese car will the peoples still think the resale value of korean car is lower ? Think about a Korean company call Samsung, 10 years back did you ever think to buy their mobile phone that time ? |

I found K5 owners got no specific on tinted, as long as u like will do .. But many owners use the shades laser ,since the stock car came with a bit darker wind screen and UV protected.. But VW many owners are using llumar.Added on October 27, 2012, 12:44 pm QUOTE(PlayMaker` @ Oct 15 2012, 08:11 PM) to all the K5 owners here, if you've given a chance again to buy a brand new car again (provided with a same budget on your hand), will you choose this car again? 5 yrs unlimited warranty is the point for u.i am about to buy this car, but i am worry this car is not reliable in a long run (not sure) and hoping this car would be a problem-free car (provided i taking good care at it) And check it out many old optima & spectra actually on the road if u realize it.. Means KIA long time ago is already good lasting , just less of branding advertise.. And depends luck also~ Yesterday have a chat with my friend who open a Hyundai SC.. And he tell me actually many spare part this 2 brands can be share, and cost much cheaper, so I have less worry about my after 5 years maintanence .. I will get my new K5 on next week (wait for road tax). Would like to share about the all new K5 that comes with NU engine Euro 4 version. (That's why the indicator and wiper control have swapped). I was told by my SA this morning that this NU engine required Ron97 petrol. However, she claimed that it could be set to Ron95 at SC. Appreciate if you guys could provide some info. Apparently, I am kind of worry whether this setting is a good move. And will it affect the car?? Cheers! |

In china Beijing all K5 is NU engine .Their petrol is RON 90 AND RON 92 only.Who say cannot use this petrol.
The different is is lower RON is cannot withstand higher compression in piston.Fuel ratio vs compression in piston is lower and the burning speed is faster.Thats why the computer is auto adjust to lower air mix ratio in piston. Higher RON only get efficient in high performance engine cause it require high compression in piston to get efficient power . During fuel inject to piston with high pressure and compress to max,it can burn without delay,no waste .In germany have petrol station sell RON 99 to cater Porsche and super charge engine, cause using petrol lower than that the engine is feel surge. Some more got unburnt fuel in exzos. This post has been edited by izamd: Oct 28 2012, 12:03 PM |

In the owner's manual:
Petrol Engine Unleaded For Europe For the optimal vehicle performance, we recommend you to use unleaded petrol which complies with EN 228 and has as octane rating of RON 95 (Research Octane Number 95) / AKI 91 (Anti Knock Index 91) or higher. You may use unleaded petrol with an octane rating of RON 91~94 / AKI 87-90 but it may result in slight performance reduction of the vehicle. Except Europe Your new Kia vehicle is designed to use only unleaded fuel having an Octane Rating of RON 91 (Research Octane Number 91) / AKI 87 (Anti Knock Index 87) or higher. Your new vehicle is designed to obtain maximum performance with UNLEADED FUEL, as well as minimize exhaust emissions and spark plug fouling.
