What I faced so far is on the alignment slight pull to the left and also the auto wiper mode not wiping at the correct speed as the rain. Sometimes when just drizzling, it will wipe real fast, or at times, does't wipe at all. When I tried to put it to manual 1st speed, it is quite fast as in it doesn't suit the drizzling rain condition. Not sure if any bro faced the same situation as me.

So far its good but then again all the cars are still new so difficult to rate dependability this early. I dont think there are many who have reached the 6 months ownership mark yet. I got mine end April 2012 only and so far i would say im very satisfied with the quality. Fyi, i was a Toyota owner for 9 years before i switched so it was a 'big' move for me phychologically.

I drive alot and so far my FC figures (100% highway) at 110kmph is about 6.0L/100km. At 160kmph its about 10.20L/100km. i dont have 100% city driving info as im on the highway more often than in town driving but i wouldnt expect good FC figures for town driving. U need to remember that the Optima is a heavy car and its 163Hp, 198Nm torque is not really sufficient for a car of this weight. Fuel tank capacity (as stated in the manual) is approx 70L but the max ive filled is 80.26L.

Servicing costs are minimal now since we have the 3 free services and the car is also new so no wear & tear. First & second service was about RM 280 each using fully synthetic engine oil. Normal periodic servicing for most cars will be low but the difference is when you have to start replacing wear & tear parts. This is when u can get a good idea of your costs. So till then its kinda pointless to ask as everybody's info will indicate marginal costs.

But for RM 143K+, the Optima is a decent car with really good specs, safety features, safety standards, design, interior space and a 5 year unlimited mileage manufacturer warranty (not 3+2). But performance wise, ull get a better experience with VW and some Jap makes but with an extra premium on the price as well.

But do test out other makes e.g Camry, Teana, Passat, etc so that ull have a wider field of comparison and ull be able to better appreciate certain aspects of the car. Do give importance to value for money and safety among other aspects. But bear in mind, there is no such thing as a perfect car and each car will have its pro's and con's.

Comrades, I've got a few problems with my car, which the SC said are common among K5s, do you have such problems?

1) the lumbar support mechanism has free play, meaning when I accelerate and decelerate, i can feel and hear a "cluck" sound from the seat, SC said it's common. My lumbar support is just lightly adjusted, around 10-20% from the off position.
2) the rear view mirror has poor quality plastics, it makes cracking noise when you squeeze it lightly or when the interior is cooling down from the hot sun. SC said it is common.
3) and off course there're the funny noises from all over the cabin

SC told me it's normal, just accept it. I disagree loh, this is not Proton, so I hope they don't treat their customers the Proton way. Btw, i'm not being overly fussy, ironically, the Rondo that they loaned me for two weeks didn't have all these annoying noises.

I'm planning to escalate my complaints and ensure that these problems are rectified.

Didnt have to wait actually. There was a white K5 available at the showroom when I went over for a test drive. After I paid the deposit, the SA told me that I could have it if the loan came through quickly coz there was someone else also eyeing it. The loan came through on Wed after Raya so I managed to get it. 

Was able to get a RM2k discount. The SA is also changing the logos ( from Kia to K ) - front & back and on all the wheels.

Yes, actually quite fortunate to get it so quickly. Heard the white model is not so readily available. Dont know if the SA is pulling a fast one on me. 

funnybone : the car edy have UV protection .. just a tint can let u feel secure & the heat rejection u comfort is good enough .

I got another sms from a saleslady at the same branch for RM5000 off on 2011 models.

I went to the showroom today to confirm on it, too bad that lady is not around, a salesguy offered RM4000 off instead of RM5000 on 2011 models. I told him on the discount, he wasn't sure of that, and he'll check first and get back to me soon. And he did stated to me that there's still stock for 2011.

Now trying to convince my wife to this car, with this discount.....

hehehe... yup... but it will be a bit difficult as need to drive around, and possibly on uneven road to test.... sigh

I choose the current version which is Theta i believe, was doing the survey for the past 2 months on which D segment should i buy and was set my target to K5 month after the survey, i knew about the new batch but unfortunately i cant wait anymore, further more, no confirmation on what will the new batch have except for the NU engine, and i saw a lot of good comment here and also from the K5 club in facebook... kenot tahan to be one of the proud K5 owner as soon as i can bro 

All, just booked my k5 last Friday, waiting for loan processing.
This forum is the best info for me about k5, from v1 to v3, which also helps me to make up my mind on this. Hopefully loan will approve earlier.

Any idea what is the interest rate like? Need to budget for glow ...hehe...

Why so high? I got mine for 2.42% only back in April

mine with MBB, approved mid sept, 2.43%

yup. maybe different track record. my life all depends on MBB, salary in, home loan, credit card, M2U... i initially asked for 2.40%, but seems they dont trust me that much yet 

Anyway, none of these interest rates make a huge difference. Its only a few bucks difference a month.

I had book my K5 last month and the agent ask me wait for engine update which will happen 15-Oct. Wonder what is the update on the engine?
Should be getting my car this month!!
