That duty free shop monopolised by only 1 co. i.e The Zone. You can find them in al entry & exit points in M'sia inc Langkawi  biggrin.gif ..Price should be the same wth Langkawi branch. or very close..Cheaper than AIprot duty free shops & airport the zone outlet for sure

I see..
I believe i enjoy Langkawi more so i'll shop in Kuah. Btw, do you go to Langkawi often stimix?

QUOTE(ck23 @ Sep 19 2013, 05:00 PM)
Danok a bit expensive, due to its transportation cost is higher.

Yes. They do sell Tobacco/cigars/alcohol. Go there no need to bring passport. Just tell immigration that you wanna go Duty Free will do. Sometime need to flash ID though.
*
I see, thanks. But one can just go there and buy duty free and come back?
no need to stay for a minimum length?

You have to be staying overnights.

But I don't think they catch it tightly.

A car has a lot of space to hide.

Unlike Langkawi, crossing by checkpoint, you gotta open up your bags and show your previous ferry tickets to prove you have stayed overnights.

can we do a day trip to hatyai?
anything interesting to purchase in danok or hatyai?
*
Going to Hatyai, you'll need to fill up a temporary car import permit at Thai immigration.

If around Danok, no need.

Bear in mind with this, else if you got roadblock in Hatyai, you would be fined.

It's just a sheet of paper, just queue and get it.

I personally don't like to shop outside, prices are expensive sometime if you don't have nego skills.

As for me, I like to go to Tesco Lotus. It's air conditioned, price is fixed, no worries for being cheated.

Basically you can get everything there.

There's one in Sadao, one in Danok.

Go further, there's one before Hatyai.

Big C also, only at Hatyai.

There are many taxi services between BKH & Hatyai for sure. Bus Service should be avilable at Danok just after the Thai border side. The buses there are converted pic-up truck wth wooden/steel seats & canopy. They called this "Songthiew" or bigger version of Tuk-Tuk.

I last took taxi from Chanloon to Hatyai ~ 15yrs ago.. so not sure the price right now. Easier just drive in if you have your own car smile.gif ..Procedure to drive in on pg1

otherwise when u meet a road block or checking, you will be in deep shit. first is the language issue.

It is still relevant.

This is Danok and Bukit Kayu Hitam's thread.

What does BKH has to offer besides duty free?

Actually there are four Duty Free in BKH, The Zon, Naluri Aman, Five Star and another one.. But of course the biggest and most famous are The Zon.

The rest mostly just to cater those tour busses.
