some SD channel are in 480p, other (mostly astro in-house) SD channel in 576i

Which SD channels are in 480p? There shd be none. They shd all be in 576i (if output from the component or composite video outputs).

Is anyone having this problem?

My Astro B.yond PVR is now outputting only Dolby Digital 2.0 for the HD channels instead of the usual 5.1

I have toggled the Digital Audio Settings from Dolby Digital 5.1 to Stereo 2.0 back and forth and rebooted the box several times, but it's still stuck at DD2.0.

I tested on some older content I had recorded in the PVR (which I confirm had 5.1 output) and they are not being output as 2.0 only, so it's definitely a problem with the STB rather than the stream itself.

Well to generalise, american shows (not british and other commonwealth countries), korean, japanese, latin american are in 480i.

I'm aware of that,however, the content is converted to 576i before broadcast. On very rare shows I hv noticed frame rate conversion errors but its rare. Content providers normally take care of that. It will be more noticable with sports ie basketball and they look fine.

Do you live in a condo? I've been trying to get HD but astro says my condo is not HD ready. Thought Astro would have made the necessary cable installation and so on to offer HD to subscribers since they advertise this heavily.

i plan to change to byond hd. however i only subscribed to family package. will i get some hd channels if i maintain with family package? if yes, what are they?

Thanks for the reply. I seems that i still get quite a channel even with basic family pack. Just to make sure bcoz b4 this i learn that we only be able to get hd services if we subscribed to superpack.

Yup living in a condo, running Astro IPTV

The HD channels were always working fine with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio throughout all this while. Only realized got problem on Sunday

Obviously now you know that there will be a number of HD channels that can be watched with only the Basic (Family) Pack so its not necessary that we have to subscribe to any of the four Superpacks.

However, without subscribing to any Superpack, you will still need to pay "extra RM 20 per month" to subscribe to HD Service ! If you did NOT subscribe to HD Service or any Superpack, then ALL the HD channels are locked and I believe that the Byond box HDMI Output is disabled too.

For Superpack 1, 2, 3 or 4... HD Service and PVR Service is already included in the pre-selected group of Astro packages.

The question here is whether you can accept paying extra RM 20 per month to watch 9 HD channels (available for Family Pack).

I believe only got 9 HD channels under the Family Pack, not 10.

I think Ch.532 Sky News HD is grouped into the News Mini Pack. Presently all subscribers can watch this because I think its free preview for a few months after this HD channel was launched recently. Anyway, I could be wrong so this HD channel MAY be grouped into the Family Pack BUT I doubt it.

I remembered what happened when Ch 309 Celestial HD channel was launched previously. At the time when this HD channel was launched, ALL subscribers can watch. A few weeks later, I was curious so I even phoned to Astro Customer Support to ask whether this channel is grouped to Family Pack, not New Emperor Plus Pack and was actually told yes and that ALL HD Service subscribers can watch... BUT then ... this was changed about 2 months ago and is now NOT available for all subscribers, only for New Emperor Plus and Superpack 3 and 4 ! Now I cannot watch this Celestial HD channel.

Remember that the terms and conditions of As*teruk subscription allows them to change the existing packages without our permission so therefore, we as subscribers have no right to do anything to complain... well... the only way is to terminate subscription after the contract (if any) is over. ... if only UniFi and other Cable TV operators can go nationwide.

I heard there is a different between Asteruk Byond and Byond HD. I'm planning to subscribe Asteruk as I don't have other choice here. So, is there any different between above package? Thanks...

IINM Std Byond is w/o HD reception enabled...only SD Channels....
Byond HD is c/w HD Channels...either in Superpacks or with xtra subs for HD.

Haiya... I miss bro james post ler... I noted most HD channel doesn't have sub right? So, I think it's kinda a waste for me to subscribe HD. And still can use the RCA cable. *sigh* Obly if my place able to install Streamyx. BTW, what's wrong with Asteruk website? DDOS attack?

Oh, Astro IPTV is different. That one is definitely HD. I thought if subscribe to standard Astro, you can also subscribe to HD channels but they cover certain areas only
