  Wow... already Episode 5.

After so many years.. Astro is STILL allowed by our government to MONOPOLISE the Satellite TV market ! A win-win situation for the corporate big guns BUT a LOSE-LOSE situation for subscribers. At present, Satellite TV is the ONLY nationwide coverage from Astro with exclusive license.

Without any strong competition, there is practically no choice for consumers. Cable TV competition from UniFi or (A B N which "may" only appear after 2013 or 2014 or 2015 or laterrrrrrr) is only maybe 1 percent of the total nationwide population because of coverage to very tiny areas in big cities only.

The door should be opened for other Satellite TV competitors to enter who can provide fair competition with better much lower subscription prices and better TV content. Since 1996, its already over 15 years of Astro satellite TV monopoly so whatever the reasons, its already time to throw away the satellite TV exclusivity !

My astro is not showing full screen except for HD channel
Its pillar box size
Although i can change the size tu fit to screen
When i change channel it change back to pillar box.. need help

Good question. Assteruk may tell KBS one thing, and do opposite. Maybe KBS HD will be downsampled to widescreen SD or even poorly cropped or letterboxed on the service... Notice what they say on the bottom of image

I feel fit to screen is better than pillar box.. its look very small although looks much sharper but looks to small on 50 tv

Actually by default my astro is fit to screen
But today i dunno what my dad buy ..astro come to my house and install another astro upstairs
Meaning now i got 2 astro byond decoder and 2 astro remote ..but i guess they change my old decoder n remote downstairs..

Maybe if i change channel downstairs,upstairs will also change channel or maybe its completely two different astro.. but dunno ..

I saw the receipt and its FOC .. hurm..

Oh..and also i have prob with astro remote like if i press +(volume) on astro the volume will be high only a little..if press - also decrease alittle..

This is annoying bcause i play ps3 with my panasonic tv 20+ volume i use..but if astro i need turn volume up to 45+ only can hear ..so when i change back to ps3 ..volume45 is like so loud already..

But at my village the + - volume on astro remote works perfectly.. so just wondering its my tv or astro..

Hello everyone. I just got b.yond box from astro today (non-HD non-PVR subscription). it is the only replacement for our kaputed old decoder. I noticed there is USB port at the back of the b.yond decoder.

Are there other purpose or abilities other than PVR recording?
eg. USB Bluetooth dongle, wireless usb hub, Image viewing, play Mp3 or MP4 on Usb stick.

Actually, this is not a good news at all. Do you know why the History HD suddenly has subtitle while the others don't?
This is because the channel is not HD. Its just an upscale from the sd feed, since it is now broadcast in 16:9 view.
There are alot of pixelation. This also explain why the sd and the hd are broadcast simultanously. WTF Astro. Trying to cheat us again.

Actually, I was complaining about the History HD channel being replace with an up-scaled History SD channel. Not about the new History SD broadcast feed.
I'm sure the current History HD is not and HD since there is no HD logo beside the channel logo. But I have to admit, some of the programs are decent thought, the older programs are obviously up-scaled.

@ milesandmore  - a fren here in SIN was watchin 'Music Bank' yesterday n mentioned quality was very bad, VCD quality. Seems like a problem with KBS themselves.

They should put an animated border around the corner like some UK/Europe channels are doing with upscaled transmission. Sure, it's a bit annoying, but at least the screen won't suffer persistence with two horizontal bars on the side if your TV is left on the channel for too long.

Eh, don't need to talk about HD with them - even digital they dun really want to adopt.

DisneyXD HD Channel 637. The above screenshot shows the malay movie "Cicak-Man" with English and Malay audio (09:05 pm 15-09-12).

LOL !!! First... they took a 16:9 widescreen movie, letterboxed it and broadcast in SD on Ch 617 . Second... they took this directly from Ch 617, upscaled it to HD and then broadcast it on Ch 637... and they even put a HD text on top left... what a joke... what are they trying to do ???? What the F.... ! My TV screen seem to have been "reduced" in size with black borders at all the sides.

This is the best joke of the year and Malaysia Day's eve.

Yes, I already knew that there are already many program materials which are from SD source and broadcast as HD feed. Case in point is the KIX HD ch 729 which do show many movies from SD source eventhough the KIX HD channel is actually from HD feed.... but at least KIX HD zoomed many of such "SD letterboxed shows/movies" to the proper 16:9 size so that there are no black left/right borders !

I agree that you have pointed correctly that the "Cicak-Man" have not yet been transferred from film to HD format and also that the Ch 637 is from HD feed. However... maybe I am the only one who is so picky or fussy but I believe (whether automated process or not) that it really looks very ugly to me to see black borders on all sides... and in my personal opinion... should not have used automated process and increased (zoom) the size at the correct ratio so that only top/bottom borders are seen, no left/right borders on DisneyXD HD ch 637.

If the "HD" text logo at the top left is intended to let viewers know that the Channel 637 is in HD, then I would have preferred that they put this "HD text" next to the "DisneyXD" logo like what usually is done for other HD channels such as HBO HD, Fox Movies Premium HD. When Astro changed the History HD channel feed, the "HD" is now missing from the "History" logo. Whatever... not important for me whether the HD channels show the "HD text" because, obviously I already knew that I have switched to an HD channel.

In my personal opinion, putting the "HD text" in a different area of the screen somehow (I think) lead viewers to believe that the program/show is from HD (720p/1080i) source. If according to your opinion that the "HD text" at top left is to inform viewers that DisneyXD Ch 637 is HD channel... then please explain why the "HD text" is missing when DisneyXD HD Ch 637 is showing "Ultimate Spider-Man" (11:05 pm 15-09-12). Sometimes showing the "HD text" logo and sometimes not is pretty confusing, don't you agree ?

some forummers said that the History HD has now become a simulcast of History SD Ch555, but why ch555 has now become letterbox format, where it used to be in full 4:3 format
