After 17th March i'll give you a small review on HP890 vs HP895.

not good. tried it with PPAv2, and Zhaolu, the improvement not even as much as ksc75.
the different is not obvious with driving it with cmoy. only lower noise level.
i guess, cmoy is enough to pull it out max already.
so when ever is more expensive. only wasting ur money
if u can afford zhaolu, try some other things. =)

I tried both of these cans. They're good but I still wont buy them.
My preference still goes to the unamped HP890. Cos yeah_guyz never amp his HP1k with the legendary xyz china amp.
HP1k has slightly more details and soundstage but the bass is
I feel fully tonality with HP890.

I remember seeing a 895 somewhere during the meet, but unfortunately i didn't test anything that is not on empire's bed

Comparing both 890 and 1000, i would say (sincerely) that the HP1k beats the 890 a mile off. The hp1k really excels in portraying details, and i rank it same level as the K701. On Hotel California 0:15-0:25sec's guitar prelude, the hp1k's resolving power is excellent, as it manage to pull out each guitar pluck with ease. What i heard is distinct notes from the guitar strings. I tried this same track on my ex SR80, and the difference is really obvious. The SR80 is congested as the guitar prelude seems to be overlapping each other.

Lower frequency wise, the 890's bass is obviously stronger than the HP1k. But upon close analysis I notice the 1k's bass is not bad after all. It is more refined and tighter than the 890. In fact i like the 1k's bass when compared to my K701 (K701 + 0404 really gives mellow bass). From my experience during the meet, i would say the DT990 has the best bass, followed by the MS2i, then the hp1k... i would rank the K701 lowest (all unamped of course)

Side note: I didn't pay attention to the sound stage so i won't comment anything on both Philips. Some nitpicks: the 1k's gives out weird noise when i move my head, quite disturbing. As for the 890, sibilance is obvious but the comfort is the best! Does the 890 worth RM340? Heck no! I would rather top up an extra RM60 for the HP1k. And does it worth RM200+? That i don't know how to answer, as i never compare sub RM300 headphones before. Maybe it does worth the RM180

Now i'm starting to miss that silly bright can.

I didn't test both of them with any amp, comparison done direct output from an Ipod. In fact i run through all my test from an Ipod. One thing is for sure: K701, HD650, HD580 suxxor without an amp.

Totally agree with the bass part.
And yeah, 1 vote for HP890.

I think most probably they are Philips.
I wish HP890 was tagged as Grado, or Sennheiser...

Honestly and seriously, me and yeahs4.1 decided that we'll never buy Grado's products.
Trust me, not as nice as you all describe, when on my ears.

The point is both they tested umamp wor.
If amped i believe HP890 will be better also.
I amped it with mini-EPH only, and the improvement is magnificent.

One thing for sure here .... HP1k certainly pumps more detail than my HD580 when amped .... but you must pair it with tube amp, else highs are really shrills!

from my brief experience on the MS2i, it does resembles typical Grado sound signature, but with a musical touch. Its still considered as a "Grado" i guess

p/s: i wonder did walabies got lots of orders after the meet or not?
