i have problem also.. browser, play store, weather.. its just doesn't load.. signal bar is full..

I'm on a 2G area. Logging into facebook and Google (Gmail) is 100% fine. Slow but fine.

Ah... as much as we love unibody builds(I practically drooled over the N9 when it first came out and I held it so carefully in my hand; and those Lumias 800/900)... I think it'll be a bomb. I wouldn't want it to be aluminium or metal though cause the waves would be killa~ but the polycarb on the nokia devices.. still, I would say Nokia still makes the BEST hardware of all.

Samsung Galaxy S3 is my first Android phone after using the iPhone3,3G and 4 for the last 3 years. I must say I like it better here . There is a hack that I am missing alot that is available in Cydia call Actions Menu that extend the Copy/Paste/Select function to include Favorite. This function comes in very handy for SMS/WhatsAPP like phone number, address, bank account etc. Any suggestion.

Wholeheartedly agreed. Everything else feels like a toy next to flagship Nokias, the crappy N97 included.

A shame they had to go the Balmer way.

@Jackdon: Try "Clipper" from Play. Not 100% as convenient but close enough. Also you can setup "autotext" in certain Keyboards (like Smart Keyboard Pro), I use it the same way.

in android , you can directly copy (place you finger on the text ,and highlight the text) ,then choose copy. go to the place you wanna paste click paste.

He's actually talking about a cydia hack that extends the copy paste bubbles to include extra commands. We don't have anything similar (and why the heck not, we're an open OS right?) but Clipper is close.

I just keep a quick shortcut to my favourite notepad app in notifications for extended copypasta purposes + autotext shortcuts in Smart Keyboard.

Hmm.. that is not what I want to do, let say I am in an SMS an I want to insert my home address. In Action Menu I long tab just like edit and then the Select/Cut/Copy/Favorite menu comes out. Note the favorite part. I select Favorite menu I get a list of my pre define phrase. Not go to the other page select/copy then paste.

Check my replies. Clipper man, clipper! Works the same way, but it hides in your notifications. Slide down, select Clipper -> clippings (your pre defined stuff), go back, paste done.

Then on back the 3G. Problem solved.

Weird. You should be fine with the settings I gave you. UNLESS.

1) You're running AdFree or AdAway (in which case you need to whitelist certain servers).

2) You're running a custom ROM with the VPN bits removed.

Meaning you want to insert something which already in your pre-defined Fav text/note into, like, SMS and then send it?

i think when you compose SMS, you can Menu > Insert Text.

you can select Text Template, which can be added/edited via SMS
you can select SMemo, again, via SMemo...

i have not tried any of these yet.

swiftkey does that in a way. for example you just type once your email address say "hantu.raya@gmail.com". the subsequent times u just need to type "ha" and choose the email address. so its three letters to type to get the whole email address. works for other favourite words too.

since i will be using maxis .... can somebody guide me how to disable the internet from the s3 from accessing via maxis, and instead connect to the internet via my linksys e4200 wireless n router that uses tmnut unifi 10mbps instead ?

any tips on how to do this ? so i can avoid that my internet usage just up my 30 ringgit prepaid monthly budget >->;



i notice in the reviews, the s3 also has some dim light feature not sure whether it auto does this in the night as well though.

Thanks Good idea and will explore, but SMS is just an example. I am looking at system wide. I used SMS, WhatsApp and email alot and there are many text template that really speed up editing.

By default your phone will auto use your wireless instead of your maxis 3G
OR You can disable the 3G - just hold down power button and select network data deactivate - if you want to play safe
