no worries, i also only use free app/games, i mean really free.....
wait for it to become free... like Dead Trigger tongue.gif

Whoever bought it, butt hurt liao XD

Added on July 24, 2012, 4:29 pm
btw, Mindfinger mentioned in their facebook posting, that 1 of the reason DT is free, is due to Privacy rate in Android is so damn high XD
*
I bought it for the $0.99. I think in general, buying an app and later on it goes for sale/free is quite common... it's like buying the latest edition of Nike shoes and when the new ones roll out, the old ones will be off for discount. Of course for DT, it was too quick a change... but meh

Don't worry.. reminds me the time I bought my SII when it first came out... RM2099 hard cash.

Then... suddenly price drops to RM1899 and then a sea of people holding it. Literally everyone had it...

Same with the SIII now... bought it like a few weeks ago, then POOF** now 1 fella in school having one also... another teacher ordered it. 2 more teachers looking forward to buy it.

Like buying veggie from pasar

imagine how rich students n young people are these days using a rm2k phone
I never pay more than rm500 for a phone for my children while studying as do not wish to spoil them. I don't mind paying rm5-6k for a macbook air or pro for them
.A notebook assist in studies not a phone
*
I think you misunderstood... they're all teachers. Not students. hehehe.

But still, what you said is true. Kids these days holding iPhones and iPads like nobody's business. I think kids are more into those iPhones and iPads thanks to all the skins and covers available for them which makes them seem trendier.

I too will not indulge my kids to such fancy. Even if I'm doing it for myself. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes we are indulgent indeed for what we do lol... brows.gif

Such is the curse of the gadget-head... cry.gif

Actually hor, a considerable number of my students over here are QUITE into Android and modding. Which is interesting, seeing them dwelve into XDA to find ways to root and new custom ROMs for their Aces, Ys and Ws.

And we're talking Kuala Lipis here. Which is relatively ulu you know.
*
Guilty as charged. I foresee me doing it again next year with the SIV. icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

Wow. that's kinda cool that your kids are into such in-depth tech. I mean, it's not really TOO deep in modding of course... and considering it's Kuala Lipis... thumbup.gif

Not going to see it here though in my ULU kinabatangan. They see my phone and go "iPhone baru ka sir?" shakehead.gif shakehead.gif

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Jul 24 2012, 06:10 PM)
Actually, there's not much wow factor moving up for nerds either lol. S3 is not much the KARPOW upgrade as SGS -> SGS2.

The SII was like the sensational phone of the past year. I don't think no other phone came close to it. Which is why it's still relevant even now to A LOT of people. In fact, most phones like HTC EVO 4G and the LG Optimus 4X really do square of very decently now with the SIII. Too minute a difference compared to the SII vs HTC Sensation vs LG Optimus... but to us...

... SIII? drool.gif drool.gif Bring it on

@DarkAngel: Dun be like me during my iPong days. RM1K on Apps.

In a month.

2 months after that, lose iDevice.

Buy Android. Buy more apps.

doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

A shame I'm not attracted at all to the current crop of iDevices lol. At least my conscience is clear haha.

1k? shocking.gif shocking.gif lost? i can't say i feel you man...

I am buying 'some' apps in the playstore...nothing vlose to 1k though... it'll take a while before i actually reach that mark. tongue.gif

iDevices? i was actually very attracted to the iPad 2 when the price dropped to RM1199. i dont need a 3G model at that time and even now cause i can just hospot with my SII, SIII, N900. seriosuly... almost hit 'buy' on the apple online store. don't know what got into me and i just ddin't go all the way.

then along came the nexus 7 and JB and Butter and <RM700 brows.gif brows.gif

once that hits the stores.... *gulp, i just hope for a hefty sum for this year's raya bonus

is there some sorta of widget to do it? i would b troublesome  to keep doin that process when i wanna use 3g for youtube and browsing and switch back to edge for normal sleep usage to receive watsapp. i would be nice to be able to toggle between edge and 3g.

Some launchers have widgets for it. Like go launcher. However, you need to be using those launchers in order for those widgets to work. Which is a bummer for me cause I don't like the candy pop feeling of go launcher

I only can login using wifi. Using Maxis 3G, line problem. Damn.

I'm on a 2G area. Logging into facebook and Google (Gmail) is 100% fine. Slow but fine.

@Eiraku
Ah... as much as we love unibody builds(I practically drooled over the N9 when it first came out and I held it so carefully in my hand; and those Lumias 800/900)... I think it'll be a bomb. I wouldn't want it to be aluminium or metal though cause the waves would be killa~ but the polycarb on the nokia devices.. still, I would say Nokia still makes the BEST hardware of all.

as i suspected some features from the original stock firmware are gone

Cynogenmod 10

the cm10 uses the bare minimum of the latest jelly bean, and that is awesome.

However the one thing i hated was losing lots of the awesome features from stock like smart touch, like putting phone down etc ....

also i don't think the digital camera had that nice multi shot, and select the best one to keep.
so my question is, which rom updates to jelly bean, can install/remove apps/bloatware, and has very minimal lost of features (especially the awesome ones)  hmm.gif  ?
*
QUOTE(farscope @ Jul 25 2012, 02:00 PM)
No.. there is none.. the camera features and other features requires the TW framework to work.

unless samsung comes out with their jelly bean ROM, then other developers can develop on top of it.

CM10 is different bcz they work with the original JB source.. so many features of TW they are not able to add in..
*
If you flash CM10, you lose everything, if you wait for the official JB to roll out for SIII, and then wait for the likes of CR and wanam to get it to custom, and everything remains

Hahaha... I bought mine in Maxis Sandakan like... maybe 2-3 weeks back,

last week, friend went there... thought wanted to order. All sold out.

Still no news of stock arriving here. Apparently no stock even in the Peninsula.

It's like fate lol? Or rather a sign that the 32GB shipment is incoming.

I'm finally getting used to inverted web rendering. Saves a hell lotta juice too considering I surf 80% of the time I spend with me S3.
*
I wanted to get used to it as well... cause I know the blacks would definitely save miles. A few issues though that I couldn't seem to get over. Which led me to turn it off

When I turn it on, it does... veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy occasional (like in the SII) tend to invert even when I didn't press it four times. Not too biggy an issue cause it can easily be reversed.

When browsing, the ONLY thing it's worth for is reading text... which I do heavily, but another big part of me browsing the web is videos/pictures. Erm... can't deal with that inverted eh?

However, I find the battery life on the SIII to be highly improved compared to that of the SII. I had to be careful to not run out of juice when I was heavily browsing via 3G and gaming throughout the day... when I go back home after school.. .which is about 3-4 PM, I'd have to plug it in if I wanted to survive with it outside later at night.

With the SIII, I literally can run it as I did on the SII and not worry until I am back in my room post 10PM. which to me is MILESSS ahead. Only very hardcore gaming (currently trying to play back Dead Space which I had to replay from my SII) throughout the day would cause me to plug it in about 4-5 PM.

Updated to BLG6/WanamV19. Smooth sailing so far with Domination's framework mods (only). Now with boosted sound and NO AUDIO CRACKLING WOOHOO even on Wanam StockMod kernel.

Now waiting for a full updated release from Vert to address the crashing phone issue. And also an updated AndroidGX systemUI.
*
Any major difference with wanam1.8? Cause wanam1.8 is like uber smooth and without glitches thus far.

Audio boost (Siyah style) and zero audio crackling (used to happen unless you run Siyah and set proc idle to "idle only"). It's still smooth as butter though, especially with Wanam StockMod Kernel.
*
Oh? Interesting... so you're on the wanam moded kernel? Downloading it right now. Sluggish korneksyen at work.. will try out the wanam kernel before flashing Siyah. I got some tweaks in Extweaks though that if wanam kernel has, then maybe I'll stick to that...

i may be a slowpoke here. not sure whether this is posted before

now you can access the task manager without long holding your home key. (like sgs 2, access via icon)
go samsung apps > search for Galaxy S3 Task Manager Short Cut
TS can add this to first post if not added before
*
Erm.. using NOVA Prime... just assign one of the gestures to the task manager. I'm using swipe down as the trigger for task manager.

Many other launchers have this option too... I find it more useful than holding the button for 1-2 seconds...

I see. hmm then I will inform my friend to choose between SME warranty or warranty from Samsung in the country he is in. Buying in Malaysia is for sure cheaper but warranty only valid locally.

On topic, I just did a no wipe flash from wanamlite 1.8 to 1.9 and it's as smooth as ever! Stock kernel really shine with this custom rom. I still wonder why I flash CheckRom Evo HD first before trying Wanamlite, even after that whole "we-are-waiting-for-a-stable-ICS-build-for-SGS2-before-we-update-our-rom-but-in-the-end-based-on-leaked-samsung-rom-with-kernel-issue" which got many people in xda angry. Think of it, they use the money they got from donations from their users, then straight buy a new phone (S3) and abandon those users and then after what seems like an eternity, update their rom but with brick issue. really fail la. luckily i don't have sgs2.
*
Wanam's good right? He also contributes a lot in other aspects... he supports a lot of themes and other devs that are working to make apps tested using HIS ROM. which is comforting to know that he is popular among other devs cause we are sure to have more compatibility if they are always testing things using his rom. Of course, besides that there is always CM which has A LOT of devs working on it too...

CR was a damn good ROM in SGSII. in fact, many actually stayed with v6 even though ICS rolled out. No biggie there cause it was just as good.

If I'm not mistaken... there IS in fact a v7. It's just not there in XDA. it's in their own checkrom.com website. IIANM

QUOTE(cloud999 @ Jul 26 2012, 02:10 PM)
those gestures also work while playing game or not?

Homescreen only. It'll be weird right if you were playing let's say Shadowgun (always sweeping to and fro on the screen) and at the same time activiting the gesture movements like crazy. biggrin.gif
