QUOTE(XeactorZ @ Jul 25 2012, 01:10 PM) different people different opinion Why use custom roms ?so choose the custom rom that suit you most most popular custom rom by user here are , cm 9/10, wanamlite, omega and checkrom Stock Samsung Galaxy S III kernel is good. However, using tweaked and optimised custom kernel for Samsung Galaxy S3 is better. It improves overall performance and has lot of features that can’t be found on stock kernel. For example, root access, insecure adb, custom boot animation support, overclocking, undervolting voltage control, multiple tweaked CPU governors, GPU overclocking, I/O tweaks, automatic backup of EFS partition, NTFS USB driver support and other more… So here are the top best custom kernels for Samsung Galaxy S3 that you can try. popular roms as pointed out by xeactorZ CheckROM EvoHD http://checkrom.com/ http://www.jayceooi.com/2012/07/10/downloa...sung-galaxy-s3/ Omega http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663656 wanamlite http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705866 cyanogenmod http://www.cyanogenmod.com/ Guide how to root to be able to install custom roms http://www.android.gs/root-galaxy-s3-xxale...nsecure-kernel/ how to increase the Data Storage on the International Galaxy S III http://www.xda-developers.com/android/incr...l-galaxy-s-iii/ This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Jul 25 2012, 01:45 PM |

QUOTE(-Ax- @ Jul 25 2012, 12:55 PM) u can read at the features first before download the rom..dev will let u know what will be missing/add from stock.. as i suspected some features from the original stock firmware are goneCynogenmod 10 the cm10 uses the bare minimum of the latest jelly bean, and that is awesome. However the one thing i hated was losing lots of the awesome features from stock like smart touch, like putting phone down etc .... also i don't think the digital camera had that nice multi shot, and select the best one to keep. so my question is, which rom updates to jelly bean, can install/remove apps/bloatware, and has very minimal lost of features (especially the awesome ones) |

No.. there is none.. the camera features and other features requires the TW framework to work.so my question is, which rom updates to jelly bean, can install/remove apps/bloatware, and has very minimal lost of features (especially the awesome ones) unless samsung comes out with their jelly bean ROM, then other developers can develop on top of it. CM10 is different bcz they work with the original JB source.. so many features of TW they are not able to add in.. |

When it comes to which ROM to use, some users can be very specific. Some enjoy the feel of a pure Google experience, and are more than willing to give up the OEM-specific features of their device to get them. Others, however, enjoy native features that come stock and would only like the AOSP look-and-feel in certain areas. In many cases, it’s hard to find the best of both worlds—especially on devices like the US Galaxy S III, which features many innovative gestures and inbuilt features. Thankfully, XDA Forum Member AndroidFan4 has comprised a list of TouchWiz apps that can be swapped for their AOSP counterparts without issue. Combined with the numerous AOSP-style launchers available in Google Play, and you can piece together the perfect ROM for your tastes, while retaining the features native to the US Galaxy S III. There are a few issues with some of the applications, though. For instance, without the TouchWiz Gallery, the camera application will force close when attempting to view a preview, thus requiring users to open the AOSP gallery manually to view recently taken pictures. Head over to the original thread to learn more. Source: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/want...s-galaxy-s-iii/ This is exactly the thing i need, a balance between adding onto the phone with jelly bean goodness, while retaining the good things about the stock This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Jul 25 2012, 02:07 PM |
