Hi guys, anyone here on TIME broadband with Astro IPTV yet? Seems like a good deal..

Normal TIME package:
2Mbps - RM119
6Mbps - RM159
12Mbps - RM219

But TIME broadband with Astro IPTV:
3Mbps - (RM128.00)
6Mbps - (RM148.00)
12Mbps - (RM198.00)
24Mbps - (RM298.00)

Apparently you get to save about RM11 per month on the 6Mbps plan, which adds up to RM132 a year.
However the catch is that you need to subscribe to Astro together... but then again I also realised there are savings if I apply for the Astro IPTV as compared to the normal Astro subscription.

Me and my family already paying RM152 a month for Astro, if I subscribe to their Super Pack 3 package (which has more channels than my existing plan) is only RM130. A further RM22 savings a month (RM264 a year).

Oh and btw, got 2 months free broadband & astro super pack rebate if sign up now.. but it didn't say when the offer ends.. So I calculated for a year, total savings is about RM886.

I also checked that unifi 5mb plan is RM149, only RM1 more expensive and 1Mb slower than TIME's 6Mb plan. Maxis is RM148 for 10Mb.. used to be RM118 drool.gif drool.gif

Really tempted to sign up drool.gif drool.gif .. but anyone care to share their experience with TIME or Astro IPTV + TIME?

All the above information can be found here:

Just logged in with Astro IPTV, in fact the tech is still at my house clearing up now. Just moved over from being a Unifi 20 user.

Just did a speedtest, got 22mbps down, 27 up...lol?

How about the consistency? Is the speed consistent?
How about your location?

got myself the 12Mbps - (RM198.00) line with the RM130 Astro package but waiting for them to come install tomorrow...

I understand that they're giving it with the Cisco Router... is it a Wireless Router? Which Model? If signal is not strong, might consider getting an extender

I heard they giving free installation/activation (fiber optics cables from riser to your unit) worth RM300 if you choose auto debit option.

Anyway Azxel do let us know the whole experience from Installation to the actual surfing and tv experience. Thanks for sharing!

My condo management here don't allow satellite dish installation, so can't view HD channels vmad.gif
Hence considering Astro IPTV rclxub.gif

Installation pretty good in terms of service. Fibre cable is white and small.. Not really visible if you have white ceiling. Actual surfing ok so far.. Don't feel any diff from my 4mb Streamyx but YouTube HD very smooth. Torrent max at 1.2mb without speed boost.

Utube HD content stuck? i dont get that with TIME 6mb for now la...
Further more, now rm148 TIME will give u 10mb..
plus Astro superpack1 or 2 at rm100, and superpack3 rm130..
n best of all, Astro signal won't get interrupted during heavy rain..
not sure how strong the wifi router is, but in my condo of 1.3k sq ft, all area can get good signal.. ok ok la i guess..

Speed's fairly consistent.

I'm in PJ.

Only comment coming from a 20mbps UNIFI account, it takes a lot longer for the ping to stabilise when joining online games such as D3. Very noticable for me, I'm curious if other users have similar experiences.

Yes I'm on the 24mbps plan. Haven't tried the 30mbps speedboost yet.

Wow great idea to have it install by the floor.. but provided your living area is near and directly in line with the main entrance door??

Coz if you have one of those slightly complicated layout where you have the kitchen, and a huge dinning area before you get to the living area, laying the cable via the floor may be more expensive than via the ceiling (hidden inside the plaster ceiling).

but nevertheless.. a good idea though, never thought of it myself. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

That's the download speed with speedtest I get as well.

On the other side, when torrenting, for 6Mbps package, I could get 600kB/s to 650kB/s constantly drool.gif

That's very good indeed. But you are the 2nd person who is getting a better upload speed than download speed on this forum. Isn't the upload speed suppose to be much lower compared to the download? unsure.gif

I believe the upload/download speed should be almost the same. As stated, 6mbps upload/6mbps download unlike screamyx where 1mbps download/512kbps upload. right? hmm.gif

true also... mine had to run along the longest side of the straight wall, then make a 90deg turn along the sliding door/balcony window (i put it under my flooring) and finally a 90deg turn to my tv cabinet...
n still got some extra cables...

luckily the installer only charge me extra 4metres=rm60 (15m is free from point of entry)..
he actually gave a lot of extra cable, more than 19metres i guess...
if the cables were to run on the ceiling, i will have to figure out how to cover them up when they need to go down to reach the tv cabinet, unless u have a feature wall or something la.. where else, from floor, I dont need to..

Yeah sure no problem. Just setup PPPoE in the Belkin router. I'm using MikroTik to replace Linksys E1000 icon_rolleyes.gif

As for the Turbo Boost, you may visit http://selfcare.time.net.my
Key in your username and password and from there, you may boost your connection depending on your package.

TIME Fibre Broadband is crap.i just got mine is 10 mbps .Changed from streamyx 4 mbps to this and now downloads are freakin slow 30-50 kbps on all websites. I tried boost to 30 mbps and a small 8mb file took 10 min to download and 100mb file taking 1 hour. And their customer support is so retarded.I called and ask about the slow download speed and the moron said ( Try restart your router) . Really dissapointed waited 2 weeks.

as usual,do the same thing most people would do with TM services : when they encounter any problem, already report to ISP yet no action taken by them.after that, lodge a complain to SKMM .settle rclxm9.gif

because they are TIME strategic target.

imagine one condo/biz tower how many users they can get rather than spent all the effort to go cover a taman with expected lower volume of subscribers.

Time & IPTV or Maxis & Iptv, which one is better?

In my condo, apparently can only do Time IPTV, Maxis cannot enter.

Those who have been using Time IPTV for more than a year, is the speed consistent or getting worst?

I have just got mine installed for roughly 2 weeks. My package is 6mbps+superpack 3..
What can I say is that although the speed is indicated 6mbps and speed test to local server indicates the same speed with very low ping count (<10ms), the connection is somehow slow. When u try to ping US or UK server, u will get very high ping count (+-400ms).

Before this TIME fibre is installed, I have Maxis fibre 4mbps installed.. And currently my house is running both TIME fibre and Maxis fibre. Like I said, although TIME indicates a faster speed than Maxis, surprisingly maxis posted an faster download speed (when torrenting) and loading speed (loading website eg: facebook/youtube) and the diff is significant..

Maxis speed test to local server has higher ping count than TIME but its overseas server ping count is significantly less than TIME (+-200ms).

I suspect that as Astro IPTV used TIME fibre to stream do takes up a lot of bandwidth which cause the slowdown of its own internet connectivity. However, speed test cannot prove that. But in fact, this is what I realised.

Some of my friend using TM unifi and said that unifi seggregated both HyppTV and internet separately, meaning that u can get a speed of 5mbps without compromising the viewing quality.

I will do some more testing on both fibre. For those who wish to take up the bundle (fibre+astro), u may want to reconsider... my 2cent

Hi Bro,
Maxis Fibre Internet is using TM backbone as their infra. Some locations in overseas, TM has quite a number of partners but coincidentally not for Time, this makes the speed & ping time a lot higher. One good example is San Frans.

Astro IPTV does NOT utilize Time Internet bandwidth, many people has this misconception, in fact it's using a different path to cater for its channels bandwidth. The Astro channels will Not affect your Time Internet speed.
I don't want to go too technical about this, feel free to PM me if you wish to know more in detail how this is done.

Thanks.

Any Astro staff monitoring this thread?

I am currently using Astro (Time) 24mbps with, 30 hours of 30mbps boost per month, for a price of $298 dollars/month.

Time is offering 30mbps with 30 hrs of 50mbps boost at 279$/month.

This price discrepancy has been going on for a while, and surely Astro has to be aware? I've been waiting for a package change on Astro's end for a while now, but there's still been no change. As my contract is up, it's a no-brainer for me to switch providers.

Has anyone heard of any plans by Astro to revise their pricing?

Astro IPTV + TIME broadband

Hi Bro,

Feel free to check out your PM for Pros & Cons.

The latest package is 10Mbps @ Rm148/month, that's only for Internet. You need to add in your Astro channels.
Example, 10Mbps (RM148) + RM155 (Super Pack 3) - RM25 (Discount for Super Pack)
= RM278/month.

Time Fibre Home Broadband (wihtout Astro) -- 8Mbps is RM129/month

Can you PM me your email, I'll send you the packages in more details.

Thanks.

Hi Bro,

Your 2nd dealer speaks the truth...

For Astro IPTV configurations, Time Internet is running on a separate vlan than the astro channels...bandwidth on each vlan is not affected by the other....

Thanks.

Anyone facing pixelation problem recently? Having this the past few weeks. It gets quite bad for the HD channels. SD channels can still tahan. Before this was quite good, hardly notice any pixelation. No problem with the audio.

Hi Bro,

Pixelation sometimes does happen, many factors that could cause to this.

Most commonly are due to the followings :

1) High reading caused by fibre connectors, twisted/over-bent fibre cable, splitter problem etc.
2) Buggy Astro Decoder.
3) Faulty ONU (very rarely).

Based on your description, most probably caused by bandwidth issue.

Please report your case to Astro careline at 03-9543 1543, they will liaise with Time to send Time SI over to check.

Thanks.

I saw the tringle icon on top left while the my TV screen is black. Then there is a message asking me to try restart my huawei GPON. At the time, my internet was working fine.

After restart GPON, wifi router and astro PVR, the internet is back but astro still not available.

So I have to use Astro on the go to let my children watch their favourite morning show on Disney Junior.

Hi guys,

I've been using AstroIPTV + Time Broadband for a year now. Really satisfy with the performance and service. Rarely got downtime for my broadband. Really liked it.

The only thing is I saw that there's another new lower price package available from the Time Broadband:

RM128 for 8MB, with 50MB 30hours free boost.

Compared to mine: RM148 10MB, with 30MB 30hours free boost.

I am thinking to change my subscription to the Time RM128 package.
As for Astro, I seldom watch, so i was thinking to cut it off as well. I only need Internet subscription now. But Not sure how to do that now.

Anyone have any idea to switch the subsciption?

Hi everyone

I am interested in 6Mbps & 10Mbps plans. I have following questions.

1) Is this ADSL or Fibre?

2) Can you list out the TOTAL number of channels included in Super Pack 4? Please take note that I am more into Hollywood movies so you can suggest the suitable pack.

3) What is monthly price if I choose 6Mbps Plan + IPTV and 10Mbps Plan + IPTV?
NOTE: on the website it says I am entitled to additional RM26.50 Discount when bundled with Astro Super Pack

Thanks

Hi Bro,

Please kindly pm me your building name to check for Astro-Time IPTV coverage.

If you are referring to the Astro-Time IPTV, its 10Mbps( no more 6Mbps) is priced at RM156.88/month (inclusive of 6% GST), it's 100% full fibre.
You may go for Super Pack 4 (RM146.28), RM26.50 will be discounted every month.

Total = RM156.88 + RM146.28 - RM26.50 = RM276.66

Thanks.

Hello bros,

The TIME fibre itself now pricing at RM129 for 10mbps.

However if I take TIME+astro, I have to pay for TIME fibre = RM156.88 instead of RM129? Please correct me if I'm wrong. If yes, why is the difference?

Yes you are right, RM129 + 6% GST will be RM136.74.

If you opt for Astro iptv, you have to follow Astro pricing. If you choose Super Pack, there will be a RM26.50 discount.

Hi Bro,
If you signed up for Astro Time IPTV, you gotta contact Astro IPTV Careline at 03-9543 1543.

Time has its own independent backbone.

For Super Pack 1, without adding extra packages, it's RM146.28.

You need to add in 10/20/30Mbps Internet, RM156.88 / 209.88 / 262.88

Eg. Super Pack + 10Mbps = RM303.76 - RM26.50 (Super Pack Discount)
= RM277.26

Hi Bro,

Yes 50Mbps is only available for TIME Fibre Home Broadband, not AstroIPTV package, for Astro 30Mbps, max boost speed is 40Mbps.

Thanks.

With the latest offer from TIME:
100 Mbps at RM149.00 per month
300 Mbps at RM189.00 per month
500 Mbps at RM299.00 per month
These deals come with the very good D-Link DIR-850L router inclusive of :
1. RM500 rebate to customers on future billings that switch from other internet providers on the condition that you are still under contract with the internet provider and is required to pay penalty should you cancel the contract. (This offer is not listed in the website but was told me by the sales representative that came to my house.)
2. Free Installation
3. Free Cordless Phone

Anyone would be crazy to get IPTV with Astro which demands that you use their Broadband deal or they would not give you IPTV. Astro Broadband deal is:
10 Mbps at RM156.88 per month
20 Mbps at RM209.88 per month
30 Mbps at RM262.88 per month

There is a RM26.50 monthly off Astro SuperPack Plus / SuperPack 1,2,3,4 for Astro IPTV customers.

The TIME deal is so very much better than Astro.

Please see:
https://www.astro.com.my/iptv/packagespricing.aspx

http://www.time.com.my/personal/broadband/...d#plansoverview

(Last revision added offer no. 1)

Any idea when? At least a tentative date should be set by them or else we wouldn't know whether this will happen as we are now waiting and paying way extra for nothing.

Exactly. They should have worked on this so we get the same upgrade as Time users. Otherwise, it's fleecing customers. Astro sucks.

So, at the end of the day, even with the upgrade, you're still paying RM149+GST for your broadband, but it's half the speed - 50Mbps vs 100Mbps - that Time Fibre Broadband subscribers are getting?

Ah well, at least it's still something, I guess. Still Astro 1 IPTV subscribers 0 then.

You probably want to find out how soon you can decouple your broadband from your Astro. I hope they didn't refresh your contract just for the half upgrade.

No speed upgrade here either. Still same old 10mbps. I don't mind the 50mbps speed but the price should also be adjusted down properly by half.

Or... Maxis, the other broadband provider for Astro IPTV, raised an objection because it made them look bad.

I just called to Astro IPTV to cancel my account.
Reason - I have been calling them for more than 3 weeks and they still can't give an answer whether my internet speed will be upgraded to 100mbps.

I told them they charging me RM156 and I get 10mbps but if I use Time (same internet provider) I pay RM149 for 100mbps.

If you are already out of contract I suggest you also cancel.
After all, if they come out with new package then can still sign up again - some more new Router and decoder.

i waiting for my contract ends on Nov. I been email both Astro & TIME, both saying in discussion for this upgrade but unable to provide the ETA. Reason for not terminate Astro because when sign up again, will tie to another 24 months contract. Hopefully they can finalize within 1 or 2 months.

Been getting the same 'in discussion' response from astro & time...with no ETA. Was told that an announcement will be made once discussion concluded.

If your contract is already over my recommendation is to CANCEL Astro.
That way maybe their "in discussion" can end. Nearly one month and still in discussion !

After all, one month later can still subscribe back and they give you new equipment/ free one month and maybe by then cheaper with better internet speed.

Nothing to lose except maybe one month no Astro.

The 'discussion' never started. Even if TIME is willing to upgrade the speeds, Astro will never let it happen because their other ISP is Maxis, and Maxis is not capable of offering identical speeds for the same price. There will be too much noise coming from Maxis Astro IPTV subscribers if the TIME ones get much faster speeds for the same price.

Also, Astro and Maxis are under the same corporate umbrella, so they'll always stick to the same agenda.

Yes, but so will Time if signing up for their 100Mbps package unless you pay for the installation charges.

Sign up for Time at 100Mbps RM149
Sign up for Netflix HD RM42 (RM33 without HD)
Total = RM191

You get 100Mbps and much, much more Movies and Drama than Astro.
Also on demand, whenever you feel like watching, instead of following their schedule or having to record

With Astro Superpack 4 and 10Mbps you will pay more than RM270.
How ??

Only thing lacking is Sports, but there is subscription to DirectTV ( https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...6313&hl=netflix )

Cut Astro off ! Let them wake up as they have been fleecing us all this while.

I wrote a complain to MCMC complaining on unfair business practice and excessive "profiteering" by Astro.
You should to.
Astro replied that they are coming out with a new package on broadband.
I did not accept their reply and cc. A copy to MCMC repeating on unfair/ unethical business practice.

i email to TIME yesterday asking if I terminate my AstroIPTV (under TIME) and move to TIME fibre. Eventually they said I will be considered as a new subscriber and 24 months contract is applicable. So sad..

As per zerko suggestion, I wrote in to MCMC yesterday noon and this morning Astro CS call up to talk about this matter. As usual, they unable to provide the timeline on the upgrade as their discussion and approval will take time. At the meantime, Astro offers to activate the free preview for all channels starting today until my contract end. Astro did not offer free preview for all channels after few emails flying around until I complaint to MCMC. So the rest who having the same issue suggest to lodge a complaint to MCMC.

Just cancel and resubscribe. Don't see any issue with 24 months contract. I purposely cancel my line and re-subscribe a new line to get the free 1TB External HDD promo previosly. Can get free new modem and router somemore. LOL

It's not like there's anything better in Malaysia.... laugh.gif

will cancel once contract ended. although astro activate all channels for free, but still not satisfied because of getting 10mb rather than 100mb.

As a current Astro IPTV subscriber, is there a way to get the time 100/300/500mbps fibre broadband whilst still retaining the Astro IPTV I.e. Two subscriptions, one to time 100/300/500 and the other to Astro IPTV but using the time 100/300/500 broadband over the same single fibre line?

Or is there a way to cancel Astro IPTV, get time 100/300/500 and still access the Astro channels using say Astro on the go without an Astro IPTV/fibre subscription?

HI,

You can have a subscription with TIME FTTH (100/300/500Mbps) package and at the same time having another subscription of Astro IPTV (Channels + Broadband), by utiising 2 incoming fibre lines, not with single fibre line.
Although technically this is possible with some customization, but that is not the standard way of doing & out of the discussion.

Thanks.

Dlink 850L AC1200
Same like what Time provides.
I do not like this Router as I read that the wifi coverage is quite weak.
If you accept this Router, you will be tied in for 24 months contract.
Presently I choose not to accept this Router, hope they offer another Router in future.

thanks mate for the info. Any idea what wifi router would be ideal as the one currently im using sucks to max (ZXHN H298N). Wifi connection drops randomly in win 10 laptops( tested on 3 laptops). Have to disconnect from the access point and reconnect back else chrome or any other browsers will just keep spining till i disconnect and reconnect back. Already called and reported to astro iptv. the technician have not show up yet. I have even changed wifi channels, did ip flush on my laptops still no use

I'm no network expert but from what I read the TPLink C7 is best value. Good reviews, wireless AC support and can get for around RM400.
I'm using an old TPlink wdr3600 (wireless N) and it's served me well the past 4 years.
Will probably upgrade once the 100Mbps is activated.

I wrote to them for alternative Routers and the reply was negative. I even suggested willingness to top up $ for better router.
Since I'm not accepting their Dlink850 they informed I'm not bound by the 24 months contract.

Maybe if more people email them, they might change their mind.

I seee...guess i will just wait for the free upgrade and change the router myself to a better ones/ perhaps the one suggested. Btw do anyone having similar problem like mine. Whereby connection hangs and have to disconnect from wireless access point in laptop and reconnect back. Its reallhy annoying to do it each and every time. Preety sure that ZTE wireless router is the culprit as now IM using my TPLINK adsl as wireless access point by connecting LAN cable from ZTE to tplink and created the wireless access point connection.

I know how it works. It is IPTV. But it cannot work with other telcos like TM since they are competitor. But in this case, most bolehland ppl cannot enjoy it since most ppl are on tm broadcast. So if they want to watch Astro, can only subscribe the satellite version which the quality of image is a lot poorer and with other bad points.

They wrote me an email more than 14days ago and also spoke to me.
"...1st July free upgrade to 100 Mbps..."
This morning tested still 10 Mbps. Restart Router and Modem still the same.
Afternoon 12.30 tested, restart router and modem, still no change.

Called Astroiptv and their reply - delay for 100Mps upgrade and unable to give a date when it will happen.

I told them off, at least they should have written or call to inform the delay as they have sent out their email stipulating 1st July.

Poor customer service. Shouldn't even use the term Customer Service !

I told them off, at least they should have written or call to inform the delay as they have sent out their email stipulating 1st July.

Poor customer service. Shouldn't even use the term Customer Service !

Did you check via TIME Self-Care Portal?

I guess Astro has not found a solution to appease the Maxis IPTV subscribers as they will be paying the same price but having speed that is 10 times slower.

In the mean time, TIME should rebate us for every month they are overcharging us for the 10,20,30 mbps which should now be 100,300,500mbps!

I do not think it's Time that's holding back, it's more likely what you pointed out, problem with Maxis.
Since they are a related company Astro might be having problems with related shareholders/management.

I hope MCMC or any other government agency will deal with this unfair business practice.
Time offering 100Mbps at Rm148 but Astro IPTV providing the same Time internet at the same price but only 10 Mbps.

I'm one of those early Time Astro IPTV adopters in November 2012. At that time I subscribe for 3MB at RM128, plus special price of RM100 (after RM25 discount) for Astro Beyond channels including Sports. I'm still on 3MB but with GST paying RM135.68, plus Astro Beyond channels now at RM121 + GST RM7.26. Total monthly paying RM263.95.

Received the free upgrade email too. So I called Astro.

Astro Customer Service explained that the upgrade is being carried out by Time, so Time personnel will contact me. Accordingly my 2012 router will not be able to support 100MBps but only up to 40MBps. So if I accept the free upgrade, I will need to buy/pay for new Time router and that costs RM286.20. I will also be subjected to new 24 months contract. Unsure whether there'll be installation/labour charges.

confirmed on the upgrade (did not get any email) but you can check on your selfcare portal.

Both my accounts are now upgraded to 100Mbps and 500Mbps respectively. Previously they were 10Mbps and 30Mbps.

You should be able to get a pretty decent router capable of supporting up to 100Mbps on Lazada for under RM100. I've tried a number of router brands and it all works. Unlike UNIFI which requires vlan tagging for HyppTV, Astro IPTV connection is direct to the Fiber BTU, so you don't need to worry about any complicated setups. Just key in the username and password on the PPPOE setting and you're done.

The packages have also changed from Astro IPTV to Time Fiber Broadband. The only difference between this package now and the selfcare page for a direct Time Fiber page is the TIME Voice Astro option.

While I'm not computer illiterate, I'm not much into routers. I probably will choose something like TP-Link or Asus. Maybe you can recommend specific models as I see some are actually actually ADSL+ routers for Streamyx. I assume routers for Unifi can also be used for Time fibre broadband.

If you've got a bit more to spend, get this as it offers extremely good wireless coverage and should be able to support even 100Mbps rates over WiFi. Its RM199, but you should be able to get some vouchers and get a good deal.

http://www.lazada.com.my/tp-link-ultimate-...sc=GWgE&boost=1

If you're on a tight budget, then this would do just fine for RM77+

I now have some idea and waiting for Time personnel to call me, as I also want to know what router they are offering for RM286.20.

No configuration should be necessary unless you have the 5GHz band disabled? Just log into your router and enable 5GHz and you are all set to go.

hey guys, so I'm using the 10mbps plan, and noticed my speed was around 35mbps today, which was weird, so I checked my Time account and saw that it was subscribed to the 100mbps plan,so i was confused.

Then I checked my email and saw the free upgrade promo,so I opted for the free 100mbps upgrade and got the "we'll be keeping in touch with you" message. But my sped is still around 35mbps.

Is my speed around 35mbps because the upgrade hasn't fully taken place yet, or because my router/modem isn't capable higher speeds?

my router : Cisco Linkysys E1200
my modem : Huawei HG8240

I logged in to the Cisco router and 2.4ghz was my only option. no 5Ghz

Anyone able to help? thanks a bunch! biggrin.gif

HI,

The router Cisco Linksys E1200 can no longer supporting the 100Mbps speed. Advise you to replace with a new router.

Pm me your budget & coverage area, will propose some options for you.

Will Time be giving free router upgrade? It's the least they can do since they have been overcharging Time Astro IPTV customers for more than a year already.

Any other equipment need to be upgraded to support 100mbps speed ? Current setup

Received and proceed the upgrade on Monday but the speed still inconsistent sometimes lower than previous speed. Are they still upgrading as they said they are going to contact in 6 days but so far no call from them. I am upgrading from 20mb upgrading t0 300mb. Yesterday can go 80mbs only and today worst... 5 mbs only sad.gif

I have upgraded my wifi router to Archer AC750 C2 since day 1 and i don't think that i have to upgrade it again as the capacity is 300mb and 450mb (5GHz).

Anyone got the same problem or am i missing something here?

Call them back and let them know. I would suggest getting a better router, maybe the TP-Link C1200? Your current router is okay but you need something better for your connection speed.

I have an old TP-Link TD-W8961ND ADSL modem router which was put aside when my Streamyx was disconnected and I subscribed to Time Astro IPTV.

Now that Time has upgraded to 100MBps, I tried to directly replaced Cisco Linksys E1000 with TD-W8961ND but it shows I'm not good at all as I can't do it that way. My simple thought was that the router built-in to W8961ND can be used to replace E1000 but the signal from Time Huawei Echolife GPON can't be connected to W8961ND.

Is there any use for W8961ND then?

Hi,

Nope you can;t use this TD-W8961ND to replace Linksys E1000 .

I suggest you let us know what is your budget & the area size that you wish to cover. Will propose you with a decent router.

Thanks.

Hi,

If you meant by wireless, 3x--4xMbps given by this router is within the expectation.

Thanks.

Yes Bro..this router we have tested, the best it gives is around 6x--7xMbps. Signal penetration level is fairly good but it's weak in handling signal interference.

Suggest you to go for dual band router. Do let me know your budget & intended coverage area, will propose you with a more decent one.

Thanks.

Hi,

Within this budget, try to go for Mi Router 3g.

Alternatively you may go for TP-Link Archer C1200 as supplied by TIME, with 3 years warranty & support by TIME.

Thanks.

Hi,

The answer is Yes & No.

YES -- You can maintain TIME Gpon FTTH 300Mbps on one line, and at the same time subscribe Astro IPTV package that comes with 10/20/30Mbps packages on 2nd line.

NO -- You can't have 300Mbps Astro-TIME IPTV package for new signup.

Hi,

Your router is the first batch 7 years ago... it can't support 100Mbps.

Please call Customer service at 1800 18 1818 to check your account.

Selfcare can be accessed via selfceare.time.com.my

My brother informed that the AstroIptv called and informed of the speed upgrade yet no mention of any hardware upgrade....

Also, i am using the Huawei Echolife HG850a Wifi router, plus a wifi booster ASUS RT-N12HP cause the the location of the router is at a corner of the house, hence we needed the booster to reach the other end.

When i tried the Speedtest.net test, besides the router i get around 40~50MBps download speed on Wifi. Besides the Wifi Booster, its around 10MBps download speed only...

So do i have to upgrade the Wifi router and booster too to get the best out of the new speed?

Hi,

The ONU Huawei HG850a needs to be replaced by HG8240H, and the Router needs to be replaced to the current one, TP-Link Archer C1200.

Please called Astro IPTV at 03-95431543 to request for the date of upgrade (both bandwidth & hardware).

Thanks.

The ONU Huawei HG850a needs to be replaced by HG8240H, and the Router needs to be replaced to the current one, TP-Link Archer C1200.

Please called Astro IPTV at 03-95431543 to request for the date of upgrade (both bandwidth & hardware).

Thanks.

Called them, they said they will arrange to replace the router should i agreed to it, but no upgrade for the Huawei one, they said it is still usable hmm.gif

Hi,

If they upgrade your speed to 100Mbps, the ONU is still usable.

If beyond that, it must be replaced.

Thanks.

Hi,

My friend currently used the Time + Astro IPTV.
Lately he found the internet seem not so stable. He did call helpdesk and they advise to change the router modem cause it might caused from the router modem. Is changing the router modem will help to stable the wireless internet connection?

Do you have any recommended modem for it? Need to have stronger signal which existing wireless signal is low. Modem location at hall but when reach room, the signal very weak and keep disconnecting.

Hi it is not the router modem. It is just router. Yes, what is his budget? If he want something good, he should try the Asus RT-AC1300UHP.

Hi SilentVampire,

Thanks for your reply here. I thought this post will having slow feedback, and i report it to another time broadband post.

So far he dint tell me what his budget. I believe to have a stronger wifi and stable connection, the cost shall from RM350+.
Im trying to give him few option up to price range about RM500. To me, the better and stable router its really help on smooth connection.

Thanks for your recommendation, will check on the model you advised.

What is the current router ? Is it the old Linksys E1200 ?

What you need to change is the Router, you cant change the ONU.

Let us know your area size & your budget. We will propose one for you.

Thanks.

I subscribed to one of those.
My take is for Sports none can compare to Astro in stability. Especially for big matches or popular events. I think those servers tend to “overload” due to demand spike.
But variety from those services is incredible !

Surprised that Maxis have provided an announcement before Time have. There should definitely be a price reduction for Time customers too.

It looks like Astro will be removing the rebates given for Astro subscription (eg RM25 rebate for superpacks) when the price reduction is given. I'm sure this will apply to TIME as well when Astro reveal the updated package with TIME. It is totally ridiculous to use broadband price reduction as excuse to remove the rebates for astro subscriptions.

The astro iptv option... i think they started out all wrong. Shudnt have made it bundle.. shud have provided this as an alternative to normal satellite subscribers, so that during downtime due to factors like rain, one can make the switch to streaming via internet instead of satellite.

My point is Astro shud stop offering both internet service and iptv service altogether... u see, if u want 2 watch astro via internet atm, u have to go through Astro, u dont deal with Time or Maxis directly... there's no benefit subscribing both of them altogether. Same price, late speed upgrade compared to directly sign up with ISP.

Sign up both Astro and internet service separately give more flexibility imo

Since astro can offer streaming via astro go and iptv, they can also give satellite people the option to stream via internet just like iptv. If bandwidth is a problem, downscale and poorer quality audio. Better than nothing at all during disruption by weather.. use internet as backup to satellite.

you are refering to watching astro on the app or the website rite - this is not to be confused with IPTV - both separate service

when u are subscribed to the bigger super packs - u get the Astro Go for free - else its RM10 separately - so there is ur backup lo

Hi,

Your router is the first batch 7 years ago... it can't support 100Mbps.

Please call Customer service at 1800 18 1818 to check your account.

Selfcare can be accessed via selfceare.time.com.my

Thanks.

Dear Sifu, even is using the first batch router & TIME upgraded the plan to 100mbps, the router can't support connections up to 30mbps?

My current plan is 100mbps with Cisco first batch router, but now the wifi connection only 5.2mbps download & 0 Mbps for upload when using time speed test to test.

Any idea?

Thanks in adv guys! smile.gif

For the Cisco E1200, it can go up to 4xMbps for wireless, whereas approx 7xMbps by wired.

Can you get a Cat5e/Cat6 network cable and hook up to the LAN port of the Cisco E1200 and perform a speedtest again ?

Hi,

Currently still under AstroIPTV with TIME. Have been using Astro PlugNPlay for about a year already.

Just received a call from Astro that they will convert TIME to Astro Fiber by end of the year.

Need advice how to separate Time broadband from Astro subscription. I would like to keep the Time Broadband instead of using Astro Fiber. Hopefully with no interruption to the internet connection.

Thank you
