If the gearbox is problematic, how often it is fail? Do we have to replace the whole gearbox so often or just repair some part when the problem occur?
- mostly is for worn out clutch pack & mechatronic

Due to those problem I was quite worried on buying used gti,
how can I be certain that the used polo gti is not a problematic unit?
- hard to tell, best if you can bring a mechanic to check
- the golf gti 6 spd wet dsg is a lot better

But the DSG will be covered with the 5-years warranty right?
- 2 year manufacturer warranty, 3 year insurance warranty

And I doubt there is any careful owner with the polo gti, because people buy it to let their heart race, they won't drive it like they drove any camry or teana.
- yea most users will whack the car

And to those of you who wants to buy a VW for performance...please get a Golf gti. PLEASE DONT GET A POLO GTI unless you are desperate to feel an under 8 sec km century dash and dont mind putting up with all the dry clutch problems in Asia...

If you can get an 'R' then spend your money on a Megane RS 250 cup.

If all else fails and you still need a speed fix...get a Mk5 (2008) with oil cooler(tropicalised) for 130 k...

Hi kawan-kawan.

I've been riding kapchai for the past six-years and now I think is the time for me to get a car. This will be my new car. I really like B-segment car la Honda Jazz, Ford Fiesta due to their small size so it is less hassle to drive in heavy traffic.

Last time I aim for the Honda Jazz but since the big red no longer display appealing attraction, so I shift my target to VW polo. This my new car will be used for my main transportation to replace my aging kapchai and sometime long run through the peninsular for vacation, etc. I already went to VW showroom, while the Polo Sport is quite impressive and I don't think the size is that small, it is acceptable for, but my choice were already spoiled by the polo gti. Prior to the 30k price hikes I think the polo gti is a really great to have car but for the price it asking now I don't know wether it'll remains valid or not.

Feature-wise I really like the gti far more than the ordinary polo, the better looking rim albeit same size. The red dashes here and there. The GTI badge. The semi-bucket seat. And most interestingly is the sunroof, and the DRL, and the cornering light as well. I really like all those extra feature. Don't even mention about the 180hp twincharged engine, that alone I think is worth the extra 30k. But then it still cost extra 50k than Polo Sport. Is it worth it? And if i'm going to shell out those kind of money Jetta, the new Golf start to lure me as well. Not to mention other recond geramny car.

My bring home pay is about 7k++, my budget is 3k for house and car which the house I plan to get in this year also. So for the normal polo, with 9 years instalment I have to pay 1200 monthly so I can afford a better house. But then I don't think it's hard for me the spend extra 500 monthly if the gti badge worth it. And my current job also promise me a better pay in the coming months, if not I already have an offer from competing company which offer basic alone more than total of what I get now.

So, under my situation, a Polo Sport or a Polo GTi? What do you guys say?
*
Technically speaking , if you take home 10 k monthly then you can "afford" a polo sport...albeit barely. Anything less you have to depend on 'FAMA' for emergency support... Financially you are eligible for a Inspira at best...However having said that..very few individuals in malaysia actually follow that....another advise..car loan max 3 years. Then you can gauge whether you can afford the car or not. Cheers!

Guys, am currently looking at a used MK6 Golf GTI. Found a 2011 unit for about RM155k (before negotiation) with full VW service records and warranty until 2016. Are there any specific issues I need to look at? I presume since there are still warranty available any car should be okay so long as it has not been through any accident and price is okay?

Clutch pack and coils can be replaced for free anytime under service at SC if they fail right?

upgrading from e46 325i?

yes both can covered under warranty. coils will cause misfire and is simple to replace, clutch pack is more major, usually DSG7 with the 1.2/1.4 easier to fail

Yeap! Time to move on to another German make. smile.gif Anyway, plan to send the car for a check before placing the deposit with a used car dealer. Is the SC willing to conduct a full check on the car despite me not being the owner yet or I will have to send it to somewhere else? Any recommendations? Does the SC checks the car for any accidents?

2011 unit, is it the SE version with 18", RCD510 etc? mileage?

if the warranty is there... should be no issues...... do check your engine oil once in a while.. not too sure if SC are willing to check at used car dealer
do join us at vwclubmalaysia.net come for TT for guidance and poisons

it is considerably faster than a 325i brows.gif the power delivery is much more in your face than linear NA.

Not the SE version. Mileage is about 35k km. Quite low. Will defo join the club. Need to learn abit more. Hehe

And yes, the power the seriously straight on. Managed to spin the tires just by coming out of a traffic light. Stark difference compared to my old 6 cylinders. LOL

I think you can send in to authorised SC to check. Another important one will be stock ECU. If mapped, any future warranty related to engine/gearbox maybe void. If not confident, send in 2x SC to confirm the ECU. Try ask for written report that ECU is not mapped or touched before.

Although it is GTI and 6-speed wet DSG, if one day the engine fails, and you need to claim warranty, SC says, "sorry, mapped ECU void warranty"

Really? I always thought that the EA888 engine had more potential compared to the EA113 engine. Especially if you take both Mk5 and Mk6 GTI, a simple stage 1 and the dyno figures show the EA888 can push close to 240whp. Even if comparing a stage 3 EA113 engine and a stage 3 EA888 engine, the EA888 engine can easily surpass the 300whp mark.

Does vw beetle 1.2 underpower?
My friend is deciding whether to go for 1.4 or 1.2. The price different is around 15k.

Btw, what does the turbocharged actually fit up to the 1.2?
Like we could say 1.2 equal to normal engine 1.5 or 1.8 or sth like that.

Anyone could comment about it?
Thanks!
